“Hypnotize” by Notorious B.I.G. is playing over clips of the New South defeating the Goons at Ascendancy XV. Clips of carnage showing the bodies of both teams broken, laid out among shattered pieces of table. Finally, David Goon, soon to be former Southern STATES Champion on the receiving end of the Big, Bad and Quick followed by a pin from the future champion, Beau Traywick.
The song begins to slowly distort until cutting off as Beau Traywick is attacked by SHIVANI after the bell rings followed by more chaos as El Rey and Graham Baker also get involved. The final thing we see is bodies of challengers and champion alike laid out in the ring and Graham Baker standing tall with the title.
The image fades to Beau Traywick alone in a yoga studio. He’s shirtless, ribs wrapped in tape and large bandages on different parts of his body as he stands in the one legged chair pose. Eyes closed, Traywick is focused. He finally opens his eyes and rises to both feet and lets out a long breath.
Traywick: Balance.
Traywick shifts his weight back to one leg and brings his hands to his chest.
Traywick: I’ll cut to the chase - on May 29th at Hostile Intent, I will walk out as your NEW Southern States Champion. And that’s all due to balance.
Suddenly a medicine ball flies at Traywick. Without losing his balance, he knocks it away with both hands. The camera pans back to see his New South partner, Waylon Kirk is the one who threw it at him.
Traywick: King of the Mountain is all about balance. To be successful, I have to balance focusing on the Southern States title with five opponents who want to take my head off.
Another medicine ball comes straight at Traywick’s head but he ducks out in time and it misses him.
Traywick: I have to be ready for one attack after another.
More medicine balls, one right after another come flying and Traywick either knocks them away or ducks, still balancing on one leg.
Traywick: Five opponents all after the same prize? I’ve got to watch my back.
A kendo stick strikes Traywick across the back and he shakes but doesn’t fall. He grabs the stick from behind him and pulls it from the attacker. The camera pans back to see Jolene standing there, her first time on screen in nearly a month.
Traywick: There’s no mistaking it, I am ready for you all. David Goon, SHIVANI, El Rey, Nathan Parker, Graham Baker. There’s not a damn one of you I fear. Goon? You may not remember but I just kicked your damn face off right before my partner drove you headfirst in to the mat. Or maybe you forgot how I pinned you - one, two, three. I pinned you in the middle of the ring, the reigning Southern States champion. All of this after taking it to you for more than twenty minutes. So David Goon, I have no fear of you, no concern for you. I’m honestly looking forward to seeing you again because the New South may have won at Ascendancy but I’m not done with you, not yet. I’m going to take the Southern States title from you and shove that piece of tape with Bronx written on it so far up your ass you spit it out with all of your other Bronx bullshit.
Beau puts his foot down and begins to pace the room.
Traywick: El Rey? Man, I won’t lie, I’m really happy that NLW’s resident emo is going to be in this match with all of his daddy issues. You’ve got some history with the New South, don’t you? You and Waylon back in January? He kicked your nuts straight in to your stomach. Honestly, I’ve seen you and I still don’t think you walk right. I’m guessing you’re waiting for puberty so they’ll drop back down. But let me tell you something, you’re a boy walking in to an adult situation at Hostile Intent.
Jolene and Waylon Kirk are circling the studio now as Traywick talks. As Beau talks about El Rey, Waylon makes a punting motion with his right foot.
Traywick: The rest of this field? SHIVANI? I’ll give you credit, you’ve got some stones sneaking up on me after I pinned that goon and trying to take me out. Hell, you seem to have a history taking people out don’t you? The thing is, it’s going to take a lot more than what I saw to keep me down.
Traywick is on a roll now, walking faster as he paces back and forth.
Traywick: Graham Barker? You look like you enjoy a fight. And I don’t mean like someone who’s tough and knows how to fight - I mean someone who runs his mouth too much and gets his shit kicked in. I’m happy to be the one for you.
Traywick stops his pacing and goes back in to his one legged pose.
Traywick: And Nathan Parker? I’m not even sure if you’re worth preparing for. It’s more likely you’re still passed out by the time the show is over. If you do manage to show up though, it would be my great honor to show you a new way of entering an altered state - I will gladly beat some silliness in to you.
Traywick brings his hands to his chest and begins deep breaths.
Traywick: Balance, ladies and gentlemen. I am balanced - balanced between pinning the current champion and competing for the Southern States title. Get your shit ready because I’ll see ya’ll real soon.
