-We are in the arena again, in the hallways but this time notably in more of the administration area. The camera crew meanders around until they find Joe Blow who is standing on the outside of a door, just staring at it. In his arms is a wet, but still properly shaped cardboard box. The shot makes good to point out the name plaque, which has NLW general manager BB Gunn's namesake.
Joe turns and notices the crew finally caught up to him. He again offers that weird smile from last time. He casually kicks in the door out of nowhere causing most to wince slightly before entering inside. One of the people there asks if this is even legal, which only makes Blow guffaw.-
“This is going to be my office soon enough anyway, I’m just getting it nice and ready! After all, there will be so much work to do!”
-Joe takes a second to look around before plopping the box on top of the desk which causes the box to fall apart, various items sliding everywhere. Joe continues to wander after this eyeing up the walls, the desk, seemingly taking it all in. He takes a heavy breath and notices something in the corner of his eye. He picks up a picture frame.-
“Now isn’t this cute. This must be a picture of Gunn as a young lad.”
-Joe shows off the picture, it’s clearly an older photograph with a young kid being held by a woman.-
“I bet your mom never dreamed you’d go down this road Gunn. She probably thought big things for you when you were this age. Maybe a doctor? Lawyer? When you got a bit older I bet it was clear you’d be more suitable for a garbage collector or circus clown, but here you are managing an entertainment company! Then again...that’s not too far off from a clown now is it?”
-Joe laughs to himself.-
“I wonder if she’ll be watching us go toe to toe. That would be something now wouldn’t it? Having to witness your baby boy get crushed in front of thousands live and perhaps hundreds of thousands more from the luxury of their living rooms. If only I could see the look on her face as I embarrass you. I want to lick each and every tear that falls from her face.”
-Joe licks the photo and keeps it held close.-
“Whisper in her ear that her son is now a toy. I will tell her to succumb to the reality that her son was never cut out for this. He prodded the dog in the alleyway and got bit. He was as foolish as the time he was still shitting in his diapers and sucking his thumb. Perhaps that will be his first order too. “Call your Mom and tell her you’re a failure.” Yes...that’s perfect.”
-Joe tosses the photo out in the hallway and then mass clears the desk of the various papers that were on top. He slides pieces of his own paraphernalia about till he finds something. It’s in a tattered frame but after a few attempts to balance it he finally manages to get it to stay erect and in place.-
“You see this Gunn? This is the copy of my contract I signed all those months ago. The very thing that began this long journey between you and me. The symbol that marked the divide and yet also tied us together. You told this world this piece of paper was worth fighting for even if you were the one that had to do it.
“I have been wondering who does this paper shackle more? This piece of paper I so hated and yet used to do whatever the hell I wanted is now forcing YOU to be the one bending over backwards to make it work. A divine tragedy if there ever was one. You thought you were making the rules, but ultimately you’re just another checker.
“You will have to come into this office each and every day, as I bark my orders to you as you have barked them to the rest of the roster. You will have to endure every antic I can conceive to ruin this company idly. All while this piece of paper stands tall, reminding you of the out you chose not to take. Just remember, you did this to yourself.”
