Well, I assume by the replies of my Sports discussion, there aren't many football (soccer) fans here.
But, does anybody play Rocket League?
Great game, personally one of my favorites. For people who don't know what it is, it's basically football with cars.

I've watched it a few times on Twitch. Are the controls hard to master? I think that was my number one question while watching it- at no point did I question the concept, just the controls, lol

The controls are very easy to master, it only took me around a day or two of playing it to get to grips with them. After you master the basic controls, you have to get into the serious stuff like flying (jump + boost) and different shooting techniques (pinching, driven shot, etc.)
To answer your question, no, they aren't hard at all. The hard thing is timing your shots (don't want to be missing the ball when you go to hit it xD)

It's a really sweet game to look at; one that makes you want to grab the controls and try, lol. I can only imagine that particular business meeting:
"Ok, so we've got 3 shooters and a 3D platformer"
*Some guy clears his throat*
"*Sigh* ....and Jack's idea of cars playing soccer"

I never thought of that! XD
It seems like a stupid idea when you say it out loud, but when it's put in practice it's amazing!

Yeah, they did a really great job of turning a completely bizarre idea and making it gold- which is only further proved by nobody questioning it and just playing, lol

Yeah I had never even heard of this game until it was brought up here now, but the car aspect (anything that involves cars period intrigues me greatly, lol) certainly has my attention already and I'll have to try this out soon for sure. This reminds me of when WWE actually released a PS2/Gamecube game long ago in '03 called "WWE Crush Hour", it was this crazy demolition-derby type game with all the actual wrestlers driving custom cars that had guns attached to them, lol, anytime that any one sport/genre tries to directly combine itself with another like that in a completely carefree game, it usually leads to a truly awesome product, crossovers flat out rock and there needs to be many more of them these days as far as I'm concerned.

I loved Crush Hour! Without a doubt one of my favorite Playstation games growing up. But yes, crossovers are amazing and Rocket League is probably one of (if not THE BEST) the best examples of a popular modern-day crossover style game. Try it out man.

I'm not as into the car stuff as NMM here, my last REAL car game I loved was Rock and Roll Racing on the SNES. But I've dabbled in a FEW NFS games. Never very good at them. Rob let me try Gran Turismo one time, the easiest race in the game ... with a souped up end game Corvette ... I lost ... bad. Thing controls like a brick.

I fucking love Rocket League! I have a friend who is one of those "PC Master Race" douche bags, in fact he's worse because he's a "Linux Master Race" douche bag, and he always gives me shit for playing games with a control pad instead of mouse and a keyboard. But hey, I grew up with a pad in my hand. Nintendo was my shit, and I loved racing games growing up, my favourite ever was Burnout 3. I've always played more Fifa and Pro Evo than I care to try and calculate, so the concept grabbed me, and it was a free PS+ game. I've purchased a few of the cars too, like the Mad Max styles ones, and the DeLorean.
Anyway, I go to my friends house and he sets me up on his Windows PC while we join a lobby with his PC friends....and I proceed to school every single one of them, and score almost every goal our team scores across about ten matches. (I even wowed him with some trick shots in Portal 2, too. - my point being, yeah you might be good with a mouse and keyboard, it might be better, but don't count me out bitch!)
The best thing about Rocket League, besides it being so easy to pick up and play, is that it's cross platform too. So we could make a private room, with a name and password, and we could all play with each other no matter what we're playing on!

Yes, that is the best thing about Rocket league, being cross-platform makes it so much more convenient when playing with friends. Competitive Rocket League is definitely the shit though, especially tournaments. There are so many organised on different reddits, forums, etc. The big ones with 20+ players are the best though, as you usually have a group stage, and I swear the most dramatic moment of my gaming life happened in one of these. Basically, I was third in the group coming into the last group game, I was playing 1st place. Basically, I needed 4th place to beat 2nd place and I needed to beat 1st place by at least 4 goals. I was only 2-0 up with 30 seconds to go, then out of nowhere I score a screamer of a longshot. Then, straight from the kick-off I chip it over him and smash it into the goal. At this stage I was buzzing, I won the game 4-0, but I needed to check what happened in the other game. I cover my eyes when I go onto the tournament discord and the result from the other game was announced. I slowly take my hand away to read the score 5-1.....to the 4th place team. Rocket league can be a truly magical game......
