A huge sprawling English Country house fills the scene, and the camera soon enough zooms in on the door. Marble stairs climb to a set of huge double doors with ornate metal knockers, and they open to reveal a long hallway. Marble tile covers the floor, and elegant antique furniture stands scattered around the hall before the camera soon pans into a large dining room. A vast oak table lined by tall finely carved chairs on either side, and paintings of various historical figures cover the walls in ornate frames. And Sinclair sits at the head of the table, a butler wearing a finely pressed suit stands behind her. She smiles slightly at the camera, dapping at her mouth with a linen napkin before she sat it aside.
She reached forward to pick up a crystal goblet filled with red wine, and she took a long sip before she leaned back in the chair. 'This is Godfrey Hall, this is where I was raised in the shadows of the past. People claim I was born rich and spoiled, which maybe I was. But there is more to it than all of that.'
She swirled the wine slowly, and then gestured at the paintings. 'These are my ancestors, my blood. And for nearly 500 years, since the reign of James VI and I? They have fought tooth and claw to protect all of this. This is ours, for us and our people! And they had no trouble lying, cheating, and stealing to keep it. They fought tooth and claw for everything they had!'
Sinclair frowned, and she sipped at her wine. Her eyes lingering on the paintings, and she shrugged her shoulders as she shook her head. 'All of you think I am just some soft little rich girl, but unlike say Isabel Rios? I was born to be a champion, I was born to be superior. My family has been fighting in battles and wars for centuries, every war? Every little dust up between the nobles? Every little clan uprising? There was a Godfrey there! And I am not going to prove less than worthy to such a mantle! And if I have to go through Isabel Rios, and Commandrix to get what I want? Then I will!'
Godfrey sniffed, and sat the wine glass down as she continued. 'Do you think it was any easier as we moved into the modern days? Fighting off the Government and their tax collectors? Sacrificing, and selling off your heritage a little bit at a time to keep all of this alive? Do you know how much my Grandfather went through to keep these lands intact! To keep our people on their lands, in their houses! And yet? All of you act like I am here living a life of ease.'
She rose to her feet slowly, nodding at the butler before she slowly paced down the side of the table. Absently inspecting the place settings with their fine white china and antique silverware. She sniffed to herself, and then her eyes moved to linger on the painted ladies and armored lords whose portraits stared down at her from the walls. She rolled her shoulders, and paused before a huge window that looked out on an immaculate garden. Her hands folded behind her, and she continued. 'I was to be denied what we do. My ancestors fought and bled for crown and country, they fought for this house! And that some fight was to be denied me! I risked all of this, all of this that my family has to climb into that ring! And does anyone respect me for it? Do any of you appreciate the sacrifices I make? No. All I hear from you is contempt.'
Her reflection glared at the glass, and she took a deep breath. 'Only one person in my life believed in me, only one person thought I could do this. And do you think I would fail him, Rios? Do you think I would return to the Scourge without your gold in my hands? No. I will not rest until I stand over you with that belt in my hands, and you know that I am superior to you! That I am the best!'
She rolled her shoulders, and turned away from the window before she crossed the room again. Her shoulders rolling, before a hand lifted to brush back her hair. 'I don't have a choice, Isabel Rios. While you are out there lounging on the beach? Drinking and laughing, and making your posts on Instagram? I am here, in a gilded cage I never wanted, that I never asked for! Weighed down by the past, weighed down by history, and trapped by my legacy! And than you think? What? That I have it so easy, that my life is a joke to you!'
Sinclair paused, and her lips quirked into a smile. 'At Shockwave? I am going to show you what it means to be trapped by a legacy. And then? I am going to make you feel my pain, Rios.'
