Welcome Back, Dear Ryan
VS Ryan Young | Ascendancy XVII
Hello, lovelies, it's been a while, hasn't it?
Did you miss me as much as I missed you, NLW? The last time I stepped into a ring in this company was in December- with my very first defense of the Junior Heavyweight Championship- not only that, but it was my first main event. It was the beginning of my rise within XHF, proving that I wasn't just a one-hit-wonder… and that successful defense gave me confidence, a reason to believe I could be and was more than just enhancement talent. I had finally hit my stride.
Months have passed, nearly seven to be exact- and now I am coming into Ascendancy once again… but as the 48th X*Crown Champion. I think it's easy to say that I've improved and I haven't even reached my prime yet. But instead of waiting until Night of Champions to fight again, I'm eager to continue pushing myself and to advance further in my goal of making this sport greater than it ever has been- and so I'm here once again, fighting for a chance to become Heavyweight Champion.
And my very first opponent in the tournament is Ryan Young.
You know, I was a fan of LGBTKO while in the indies. I was a fan of what you, Bloodied Fox, and Seth Dillinger had represented at the time and what you had accomplished. So a part of me is happy to see that you're back in action, that I'll be the first opponent you'll have faced in a LONG time… but..
Another part of me is disappointed in you.
Back in AWF, while Dillinger had always been seen as the star of your group- You were always looked upon as the rising name. With your breakout performance in 2019's Fired Up, so many expected you- including me- to see you evolve. You had even pinned Hyperion, the champion of AWF at the time once. You were always believed to be the future… but you never really got there, did you? Outside of that tag title reign, you never went as far as you could.
Why is that, sweetheart?
I think it's because through all that confidence you showed, that great talent you have- You never grew. You were amazing, but you never became more than that. And here you are, the same Ryan Young as you were of 2019- the "future".
As for me?
I'm not the future. I'm the here and now.
And that's why soon enough, I'm going to show NLW just how much I've grown since last time- and in this match? I'm going to force you to your limit until you have no choice but to either finally reach the potential you've always had- or break under the pressure.
I love this sport- and for it to progress, I have to be better AND make my opponents better than ever before.
Welcome back, dear Ryan. This will be fun.
