Tonight, we take a look back at Sundays 'Network Showcase' event from New York City and its very own, revered, Hammerstein Ballroom.
A venue steeped in wrestling history and stage host to many career beginnings, career changing moments and equally, career endings.
What more fitting to begin the night than with ASW's own two maiden superstars.
Nelly Angel, a professional interviewer turned plucky, high flying athlete capable of
manoeuvres so quick and agile that the eye struggles to comprehend..
And Max Hart, the technical wizard and fringe power player who prides himself in his Canadian family
heritage within the ring, training with some of the most prolific the country has had to offer..
Both equally capable, both entirely different. A match fit to bare its namesake. Who though,
walked out with the proof that they could play amongst the elite? Let's watch it unfold.

Showcase Edition One | ASW Segment
Nelly Angel vs. Max Hart
Nelly Angel vs. Max Hart
Infront of us, sits two well dressed men. An older gent, with thick, slightly curled hair and clean shaven. Beside him, a younger fellow sporting shorter, styled hair and a short haired beard. It's the older of the two who starts proceedings
Sandy Mac | Sandy Mac here, with Tom Adams and Ladies and Gentlemen, first of all let me personally welcome you to XHF's very own Showcase event! More-so, to the most anticipated segment this evening, hosted by our very own All State Professional Wrestling.
Tom Adams | Absolutely Sandy, we're in for an absolute cracking match-up here with the two maiden superstars of ASW in Max Hart.. and Nelly Angel!
Sandy Mac | Cracking? You've never even seen these guys wrestle! Don't go pandering yourself off as a liar 30 seconds into our broadcast, come on Tom, we're professionals, we're the front line.
Sandy rolls his eyes
Tom Adams | Liar? .. Anyway these guys have been gifted an opportunity, a chance to gain an advantage and an early lead here in ASW, they're not going to hold back. That's why I'm anticipating.. they're here to prove something.
Sandy Mac | True words kiddo, true words. These men can begin their hunt for glory and it goes down, right here, right now!
The camera switches to a view of the ring. In the center, a dark haired woman stands at the ready, dressed in a black pencil skirt and beige dress top with heels to match. Smiling with glistening eyes from behind some thick rimmed spectacles, she raises her microphone.
Penelope Grace | Ladies and Gentlemen, welcome to the All State Professional Wrestling where our following match-up is a one-on-one bout, scheduled for one fall!
Her inviting tone and probably more so, develish look draws in the eyes of the crowd before they whip towards the titantron..
A screeching of guitar rips through the arena and bellows from the titantron as 'Bulldog Jr' himself, Max Hart appears and gazes, eyeballing the fans as he throws his arms up before pacing down to the ring.
Penelope Grace | On his way to the ring, our first competitor.. weighing in at 260 pounds and hailing from Calgary, Alberta, Canada.. He is, Maximilian Hart!
He takes the steps up as he draws a collection of cheers and jeers from the crowd, before hopping into the ring and taunting. The rifting guitar fades out promptly as all heads swivel back to the stage.
"Rip it Up" begins pounding as Nelly Angel comes burting from the back, bouncing around the top of the ramp before making a beeline and sprinting for the ring as the fans feed off his energy.
Penelope Grace | And his opponent, out of San Fransisco, California.. weighing in at 160 pounds.. Nelly Angel!
Tom Adams | Our fans certainly seem to have made their favoured choices already, the cheers are ringing out!
Sandy Mac | Ofcourse Adam, he's not Canadian!
As Nelly slides into the ring, he springs up and leaps up onto the nearest turnbuckle and throws some appreciation towards the crowd before hopping down and settling himself into the corner opposite Max Hart.
Sandy Mac | Let's really get this party started.
Tom Adams | I'm hopeful Sandy! I've got a good feeling about this.
Both men size eachother up as the referee get's himself in order before signalling the bell. There's pacing around the ring and a few false holds before Nelly and Max get themselves into a hold war. Max has the upper hand, tightning and squeezing into various grips and attempts to lock in an arm lock. Max really grinds his teeth and gets into it, applying pressure as Nelly begins to fight back and in a snap, twists out of it and delivers a standing dropkick, sending Max backward onto the mat before Nelly jumps back up and throws his arms up toward the crowd and a roar. Grimmacing and taken aback, Max gets up and the men square off again. Nelly attempts the grab this time but is whipped off the ropes and returns to elbow to the jaw. Max then grabs Nelly again and applies the same arm lock but pressures far more.
Tom Adams | Sizing eachother up, figuring eachother out, slow and steady process!
Sandy Mac | He's getting elbowed in the jaw, that's what! That's not a slow start. That hurts.
Nelly drops to the canvas as he succumbs to the steady pain building in his arm and shoulder. Quick relief as Max releases but it's short lived as he rams a knee into the top half of Nellys back, drops and grabs him in a sleeper. Nelly begins his fightback as he throws some wayward elbows, enough to have Max release but it just furiates him and he begins rainging down with punches and a few smashes from the forearm for measure before the ref chooses to step in and make him back off.
Sandy Mac | The size difference in these guys is starting to show early on here, Max is getting his worth!
Nelly has since rolled to the corner and helps himself up, gripping the back of his neck. Max paces over again lashes out a stomp or two which decks Nelly back onto the canvas. Murmers creep out from the crowd, which Max replies by taking a second to stare out at those near, almost in bewilderment. He reaches down and begins to drag Angel up who in a flash, comes out with a flurry of punches and catches Max completely unaware.
Tom Adams | Here we go Sandy, this is what I'm talking about.
Before Max can have a moment to adjust, Nelly throws his body at him as he corners Max and continues with a barrage of punches. The fans begin to get behind Nelly as they chant him on in rythm but the heavier body of Max muscles back and sends Nelly crashing with a belly-to-belly, asserting his authority. Not satisfied, he picks Nelly up and lifts him above his head, holding a suplex as he drops and attempts a quick cover..
1..
Kickout..
Nelly raises his shoulders and rolls out the ring to evade further attack. Whilst he pulls himself together, Max climbs out in pursuit, grabbing him and tossing him back into the ring. As he goes to climb in, Nelly jumps up, springs off the ropes and launches himself into Max, sending him back to the outside as the crowd pick up again. Nelly, climbing out onto the apron, pumps the fans up and as Max gets himself to his feet, finds Nelly leaping with crossbody, both bodies crashing to the floor.
Sandy Mac | Come on guys! There's a ring there for a reason.
Tom Adams | This is what I'm trying to tell you, anything to get the upper hand, anything!
The ref begins a count as both stars clamber up but Nelly with the spring in his step is up first and throws Max into the ring and slides in after. Max gets himself to a knee but Nelly, seizing the opportunity picks him up and tosses him back into the turnbuckle. He climbs to the second set of ropes, gripping onto Max's head and jumps off, pulling out a spinning DDT that thunders off the canvas. Nelly leaps down and covers..
1..
2..
Kickout!
The frustration on Nelly's face is clear as he stomps a couple of times and looks toward the turnbuckle, back to Max on the floor and returns to the corner. The fans anticipate whats to come and raise the noise levels! Nelly climbs the turnbuckle and begins taunting the crowd, concentrates and leaps..
Tom Adams | Whoa! the distance covered on that leg drop was insane!
Sandy Mac | Quite a jump! but will he take heed and wind this match up?
Nelly, who clearly took as much of a hit from the drop, clutches his leg and hops up. With Max still down he takes his chance and attempts another knee drop, regardless but Hart rolls out of the way just in time, Nelly flopping, grabbing his knee. Max uses the ropes for aid as he stands and noticing Nelly holding, stomps down on his knee. The pain shows as he flips him over and grabs the leg, executing a single leg boston crab in attempt to further the pain. the ref checks up on Nelly who writhes in pain and clambers for the ropes. Max can't hold his grip so instead picks up Nelly from behind, resets his grip around the body and unleashes a wicked german suplex. Max lets out a roar and continues.. pulling Nelly back up again and dishing out a belly-to-back, laying out Nelly completely and quickly shifting over him and locking in a sharpshooter.
Sandy Mac | This could be it, that leg is taking a beating! He loves a sharpshooter so I've been told.
Again, the ref has eyes on Nelly as Max leans right down on the beaten leg, creating a huge bend in Nellys back. Slowly but surely, Nelly wriggles and endured the pain to shuffle, attempting an escape but to no avail. Max screams for him to "Just give up!" but Nelly withstands and continues to try and break free. The fans creep onto the edge of there seats, Max's sharpshooter could be end-game. He crawls toward the edge of the ring and after what must have felt like a mile for Nelly, eventually breaks the hold and the relief beams from his face as he gets a fistful of rope. Max begrudginly does and takes a second to regain his energy, sweating for sheer strain. Nelly pulls himself toward the corner in refuge as the match seems to take a breather. Max is on the assault again and charges over but as he leans over to grab at Nelly, he raises a boot and takes it square to the face as he stumbles back. Shaking it off he comes again but Nelly continues to fight back again and catches him once more, twice, three times with kicks to the face. Picking himself up, Max runs at him but he ducks and evades.. Max goes again, swinging out an arm but misses a second time and with that recieves a flying elbow smash from Nelly. Max stumbles and falls to his knees as the momentum begins to switch then Nelly unleashes a devastating shining wizard!
Tom Adams | Here we go! Here we go!.. is this the fightack?!
Nelly fights through his pained leg and finds himself on top. He screams and pushes himself on, signalling to the crowd equally and as Max begins to stand, Nelly hot foots it over and catches him, delivering a twisting neckbreake, halting him in his tracks as he now stands tall over a writhing Max Hart.
Sandy Mac | The rage Max has is biting back at him! Proffesionals have to keep there cool or this is what happens, you gift people chances!
Nelly Looks up and soaks in the adulation then makes his way to the corner again. He climbs but stumbles as his leg begins to show the pain again but he battles and eventually has himself on the turnbuckle. Max lays almost motionless and as Nelly adjust and steadies, his legs begin to give out again.
Tom Adams | Surely he can't be wise being up there, he knows his legs are giving out doesn't he?
Sandy Mac | You're the one who said "they'll do anything" Adam.. appreciate it! He's doing what he feels must happen!
The fans are on their feet, Nelly now up, fighting through the pain and ready..
ON ANGELS WINGS!
Nelly flies off the top and twists through a corkscrew moonsault, a majestic moment of pain-free athleticism. He lands flush on Max Hart and bounces off as the fans go crazy for what they've just seen. The fans can sense it.. Nelly can feel it.. he rolls back over and hooks the legs of Hart with both arms.
1..
2..
3..
Tom Adams | I knew it! Saw the fightback coming and Nelly duelly delivered! Fighting through the assault on his legs from Max who must of thought he was closing in.. but perseverence prevails.
Sandy Mac | That's embarrasing! You have a man weak at the knees and you can't finish him off! But props to Nelly for getting on with it and dishing out some moves in the process! A maiden victory for the man from Cali and surely a statement of intent. Spector will have been watching closely!
Penelope Grace | The winner of this match by pinfall.. Nelly Angel!
Nelly rolls off with a sigh of relief and slips out of the ring. Delight soon streaks across his face as he sheepishly wanders, rubbing his leg in the process. He rests by the ramp and lens against the barricade as a number of fans reach over and celebrate with him, Nelly throwing his arm in the air. He makes his way up the ramp as the camera cuts back to Max who's shuffling on the floor and eventually looks up and grimmaces toward the celebratory Nelly Angel.
The camera switches yet again but this time, to the backstage area where, in a makeshift office, Spector can be seen having watched the match on a television in the room. He applauds slowly as the camera pans back and leaves us with Spector appreciating what he's seen.. cheeky grin and all.
