Welcome to the wonderful world of What If!
Have you wanted to write a match, but feel that you could use some improvements? Have you just felt the need to write a match, but there’s no current opportunities to do so? Ok, the last might be a little far fetched, but I did kind of find myself with both of these thoughts last night. No, I didn’t write a match, but I thought of this.
What if?
What if takes one match at the start of the month and anyone can write the match and post it. After about a set amount of time, say half the month? We settle down to read each match and do a vote for the best match just like it were a CAR event. We say what we like about the matches and generally support each other in writing matches.
But that’s not all, folks!
It’s kind of a workshop, see? We have several different styles of writing matches. A “standard” play by play where the action is written out and the commentary talk about it. NPW’s style where everything is commentary free, but not without its exposition during the match as if commentary were still there. You know, background info and all that. There’s the SWAT style where most everything is said by the commentary. I’m sure there’s other styles that I’m missing, but the point is that when the monthly match is set, a style will also be set. Some other parameters like min/max length and certain events that happen during the match will also be set just as if you were given instructions by a fed head for the match. After the voting is all said and done, the person who most represents that style (or has the time) will go through each match and privately talk to each writer about what they liked and where this person (in their opinion, remember that) feel that the match writer can improve.
What do I need from you? Well, for one I need a roster of characters from which to draw matches from. If you want to see matches written about your guy, sign up!
What kind of matches can you expect to write about? I mean, these will typically be one on one, but there’s all kinds of crazy matches to be written out there.
Who will be in the matches? Depends on who signs up, but we may also tap “real stars” if we need to for some dream matches. I would prefer not to do so unless these guys have move sets and what not listed someplace for ease of writing. Also, on the months where we have a Global Event being written, we might not do this. This would be January, April, June, July, and October. If you want to write a match during these months and we are not doing the What If? Jump on a Network match! I’m sure the help will be much appreciated.
