We just know that something is lost, but somehow we are lost, lost
And this my friend...Is The Great Depression
"These words, these simple yet poignant words, are what lead the listener into "The Great Depression" an album by the band Blindside. A Swedish Christian Rock Band for those interested."
The camera pulls out to focus on Wellington Dunne, as if the one operating it is confused by that statement.
"Don't look at me that way. Yes, the big, burly Scotsman likes the music a Christian Rock Band for Sweden. Big fucking deal. You see Kelly, if you're looking for pity from me. You can save you pity for the weak."
Dunne smiles at the last line.
"It's funny how in our society these days. It's the unloved, and tortured, with whom we love the most. Movies that were considered failures at the box offices, become well loved, and achieve cult status by the fans that enjoyed. Take a look at Street Fighter starring Raul Julia and Jean-Claude Van Damme. That movie is absolutely terrible, and yet it's loved by people all or the world. Now personally I credit that to Julia's stellar over-acting as M. Bison, but I digress. What I'm trying to say Kelly, is losing not only the NLW Heavyweight Title, but the XHF European one as well, was a lesson you needed to learn. Now, I take nothing from you, after all you are still "Deathless" Tommy Kelly, and you reputation proceeds you."
Dunne pause for a second, to collect his thoughts.
"You see, Kelly. Here's the big difference between wins and losses. The truth of the matter is the do matter, but in different ways. Every win, every victory, the applause, the adulation, the pomp, the circumstance, the confetti, the parade. All of the thing associated with victory. The things we enjoy. Wins tell us what we want to hear. And this goes for man, woman and child on the planet. But, our losses, our defeats, our setbacks. These... These tell us what we need to hear. While at first we may chose to ignore their teaching, we soon realize that our weaknesses, or flaws. Do not make us weak. The help make us stronger. And this coming from a man who knows all about losing, probably better than anyone. Go ahead ask anyone I know. They attest that even with all these muscles, and strength.'
Dunne flexes for the camera.
"All the power in world is nothing, if you can't utilize it correctly. I'm walking proof of that. Many times I've let my pride and ego and stubbornness cost matches I should have easily won. I mean I once lost to girl who talked a rubber duck. But here's the difference between us Kelly. My losses made better, made work harder, become stronger. Because I am determined to let my past dictate my future. You said it yourself. Your crash down from the top made you feel worthless, and that makes more dangerous. And you may be right, in your own twisted little world. But I look at you and see not a man who's worthless. But, one who gutless, and hopeless. A man who knows that they give everything they have, and it still won't be enough. Kelly you feel worthless, you may feel like nothing else matter anymore. But no matter how pathetic you feel. To beat you I know I have something much, much more dangerous that worthless. Absolutely heartless, no mercy, no quarter. And I will do exactly that, to win. Even it means pulling my own beating heart out my chest, in order to do so."
