“Lynx, I have no doubt you are a man of integrity. So I hope you understand this -- I’m not a man who puts his trust in others. It’s not my style. Don’t take that personally Lynx.”
Lifting his head up, we see Jesse Jamester in his gear and mask, sitting on the edge of a bridge, looking down at the river water below him. It was into the midnight hour, although it was summer, the night air was chillier than it had been in previous weeks.
“We had our differences. We squashed it out there in the ring. A respectable way of sorting out differences in this business. That’s why I respect you… well, the you I fought. See, I know the man named Eron Hunter - somewhere buried beneath (pausing and gesturing a hand forward, searching for the word) whoever you are now… I know THAT guy, I’m not sure about this guy.”
Looking over the edge as his feet dangle off the side of the bridge, Jesse spits, before he swings his body around and drops to his feet on the bridge. Walking in the center of the unmarked bridge, we see city lights in the far distance, barely illuminating a corner of the backdrop.
“I have every intention of teaming up with you and taking on the Revenants. As long as you have my back, I will have yours - and that’s all I can promise you Lynx. Until I feel you out, until I see if the man I was dealing with is really in there (pointing to his chest) the same man who showed me what I really should be fighting for… I have to keep my head on a swivel. Especially with a bounty on my head, thanks for that Carner.”
Slapping a mosquito off his exposed arm, the Canadian Nightmare is now off the bridge, and heading up a small incline, not quite a hill, but enough of a slant to show the elevation shift. At the top Jesse stood, looking out at the night sky, gazing at the stars and moon. Clouds rolled over like smoke stacks, as he took a deep breath and exhaled.
“Make no mistake about it Lynx, for me, this isn’t about getting even with Keith Williams… no, that would be letting these jackals off easy. You once said I was weak minded. I think you misunderstood what it is that drives me Lynx. What makes me tick... When I am focused, it is all I think about, it’s a fixation for me. Wrestling is my life. Right now, the Revenants are that focus. They have tried to take my means to make a living. They have unglued the Canadian Nightmare. As hard as it is to believe, I was a mild and tame version of myself before that attack took place. When you get your head caved in though, it makes you realize real quick what your priorities are!”
Turning around, Jesse looks slightly down now; his mask scales reflect the camera's light as the operator begins a slow zoom on his face. Darting his eyes from the ground directly to the camera, Jesse’s tongue licks his lips.
“Keith did everything I expected of him. And yeah, you may say, ‘if you knew, then why didn’t you stop it?’ To which I say, I did… I had Clyde. I knew the Revenants wanted to make a statement, and whether it was me, or someone else - it was going to happen. While I don’t trust many people, Clyde isn’t just anyone to me… that’s my brother from another time in my life. He doesn’t share my bloodline but he’s as close to family as it gets. From the day I met him to now, I know I can count on Clyde…Can the Revenants say that about each other? Do you think Neo James Carner, Rob Garcia, and Keith Williams would come to save the other if shit went sideways and they were the ones getting strung up by a chain?”
Nodding his head back, Jesse’s eyes say it all as the unseen eyebrows under his mask rise, and the pupils get bigger in the camera light.
“I know one thing about teams… There is always someone who wants more. Someone is going to eventually find themselves in last place. That person is going to feel like they aren’t getting the respect or attention they deserve. That’s going to be when you see who your real friends are. When the chips fall, we’ll see who the Revenants really are. Are they brothers? Are they business partners? Maybe a bit of both. Trust me when I say, I will find your weak link, it’s not a question of when, but rather a question of who.”
Looking the camera directly dead on, we see a falling star in the backdrop of the night sky.
“Keith Williams and Neo James Carner, you’re not fighting two men who respect you come August 25th. No, you’re fighting men who want to take turns busting your heads open like pinatas! Lord Dominicus may be the referee, and I’ll say this now to him… stay the hell out of our way LD - I’m not going to tell you twice. The ReVenants are due a beating and if it costs me a match to make it happen, I have no problem with that! But get in my way, and rest assured, I’ll lay you out right next to Keith and Carner, with pleasure.”
