Hey guys,
First off, newer folks or folks not on the discord I'm sorry you're having to deal with things that are not related to you.
Anyway, there's been an increased amount of bickering that swelled into some big full-on public fighting on the discord. To that end I suggested the discord be put on cool down until order could be restored. It seems that while I was sleeping that happened.
We've all been dealing with a pandemic for over a year, and a lot of our built up issues end up coming out in one way or another in our online communities because we're having trouble getting it out of our systems in our real lives.
That is not what our public areas are for. That is what DMs are for. Airing out dirty laundry or spreading hatred is not for public forums and has always been the rule in the XHF and XHF Network.
Now, because some people had gone about things in a very wrong way, the Discord and Network staff have been forced to take a stance that emphasizes order first. That likely means people who are more hurt won't get what they want. They may feel they should leave. I hope it isn't the case, but I understand and I hope they find a place that better suits their needs.
If a fed head would like to take their fed out of the Network, I understand. Just contact me via DMs and we'll figure out an exit strategy so that you can have a smooth transfer after setting up your own board.
For those who have had the patience to read this far, I am sorry it has come to this. As Scorps noted, the discord is a privilege and not a right. If people don't want the friendly bar across the street to be friendly, then that's the decision they've made and now it's closed for now. How long will it be closed? I'm not sure. I think at least a few days would be good to let people reflect. With Destiny closed we don't need to keep it open.
"So why not just ban [insert name] and be done with it?" There will be bans, but I think it's better that we all take some time away from the freedom to chat and reflect on our own contributions there and here on the board. Early in my relationship with my wife we settled on an interesting idea: When we're fighting we both sleep on the couch. Well, now we're all on the couch.
Consider this an exercise in restraint. It has been a long-standing rule that if you have issues with somebody you work it out in DMs, and when that fails and issues can't be resolved even with admin involvement, you either take a walk OR just avoid the people you don't like. We are incredibly blessed by having choice here, we can shift from fed-to-fed based on what we're comfortable with. Now, with the discord closed, DMs are your only choice. So you can also consider this a learning experience.
Now, before it becomes an issue. The board rules are incredibly draconian. If you decide that without the discord to cause trouble you want to cause it here publicly, it'll result in that post getting redacted and you getting a temp ban. I don't care who you are, even a fed head with a show to write will get the same treatment. Order is now the first order of business.
We might lose people over all of this, and I'm sorry to see them go. But this is what it has come to. Bigotry is not accepted here. Chaos is not accepted here. We're adults who came to pretend to be wrestlers, go do that or hit the bricks.
To save people from being banned I'm going to lock this post.
I'll say it one last time: Most issues on the discord are caused by people who want to say whatever they want, but then get upset when they're called on it. Take this time to reflect on yourself and focus on rping.
My DMs are still open both here and on discord, as are most people's I'd imagine. I love to talk and converse even about pointless things. Don't feel like you can't talk to me or others without some sort of agenda, we're more than happy to just chit chat, lol.
If DT wants to add anything he can, he's better at some of this stuff than I am, lol
