(Xiaolong is in a police station walking through the hallways looking around smiling at the law enforcement officers who are hard at work doing their jobs and protecting the public. He looks into the camera still smiling as he continues to walk through the hallway.)
Xiaolong: "What do you think of when it comes to heroes. Do you think of individuals with the powers beyond belief with capes and masks who can fly. Do you think they pop out of comic books and graphic novels saving the day and making quips to those they saved or the crowds of observers."
(He shrugs and still looks into the camera.)
Xiaolong: "Do they dress in sports gear and take to the field, tennis courts and rings etc, etc, and etc. Yet despite making all these millions they sometime get into trouble or do some of the stupidest things to get into trouble and apologize only to do it again."
(Xiaolong sighs.)
Xiaolong: "Are they celebrities who cheat on their wives and girlfriends or do something stupid as well only to apologize to their naïve and sheepish fans. Are they real heroes and if they aren't who are the real heroes."
(He smiles and motions as he looks around.)
Xiaolong: "No the heroes I'm talking about are these fine men in and women in blue. I'm talking about these fine police officers who dedicate themselves to fighting crime and keeping law and order. These individuals practically place their lives on the line and protect the citizens from criminals who prey on them."
(Xiaolong goes up to one of them.)
Xiaolong: "Imagine a city, small town or community without a police department. Imagine being without these real life heroic crime fighters. There would be lawlessness and chaos and all sorts of crimes being committed by all sorts of criminals and yet these men and women in blue are taken for granted."
(He looks into the camera with a somber expression.)
Xiaolong: "Yet there are those individuals who hate these fine heroes in blue. They wanted to defund and disband the police all to advance a lawless agenda. They care more about trashing the police. They care about suing these fine heroes and extorting big money from them and write these insulting opinions that demand these great heroes sacrifice their pay to pay for settlements even though they never had any involvement in the so-called injustices. Can you imagine how these heroes and those who appreciate them feel when these haters show disdain for these real life superheroes."
(Xiaolong grins as he motions to another police officer.)
Xiaolong: "Then the fine citizens realized how much they needed these fine heroes and turned their backs on these super villainous haters and supported these fine men and women in blue. Imagine the hypocrisy of those who hate the police suddenly stumble and grope for excuses to justify their inexcusable behavior and anti law enforcement stand."
(He shakes his head and sighs.)
Xiaolong: "Of course I watch how these fine men and women in blue are depicted on the small screen and I find some of the programs well made. Then again some are forty years old but I do watch the modern ones. I was turned off when I saw the leader of a special unit participate in a protest march against his fellow officers and then has the nerve to self righteously refuse to be the face of police recruitment because the recruits would quite. Like he knows that's going to happen. To me that's not what
these true crime fighting heroes would do in real life."
Xiaolong sighs again.)
Xiaolong: "Then again what do I know since I'm some dumb ignorant shoot from the hip professional wrestler. I appreciate these non comic book heroes who are first responders whenever tragedy strikes and comfort each other whenever one of their own falls and they even wait and comfort the fallen officer's family. Imagine that the police actually show compassion to their own despite the circumstances."
(He smiles again.)
Xiaolong: "Then the circle of life resumes when the officer's son or daughter takes his place by literally enrolling in the police academy and going through all that rigorous training and studies just to carry on their parent's tradition. Who knows maybe someone who wanted to be a cop was inspired to be one when he or she encountered one.
Imagine a cop can make a difference in more ways than one despite what some claim cops are or claim that individual sold out to 'the Man.' Imagine what they would become with that arrogant attitude."
(Xiaolong spins around motioning to all the police officers.)
Xiaolong: "Yes everyone these are the true heroes who don't go around without capes and masks and look like posers. These great men and women in blue care about you the citizens of the city no matter what the haters try to tell you. So when you see a police officer give him or her thanks for their jobs by giving thanks with a wave or a comment on a job well done. A little appreciation goes a very long way for these heroes in blue. The haters can trash these great men and women in blue but if they need them. They probably show no gratitude and appreciation but these great first responders will always do their jobs like true professionals. That's the true attitude of a hero and they don't need masks or capes."
Xiaolong leaves the police station as the scene slowly fades to black.)
