(The late summer/early fall morning weather was pleasant and the skies are clear with barely a cloud to be seen. A flash of light appears and Niko and his son Decarus appear a few blocks away dressed in normal clothes and join the various people walking back and forth heading to and from work. They are oblivious to Niko and Decarus who are looking around.)
Decarus: "Where are we father."
Niko: "This is New York City the financial capitol of the nation known as The United States of America."
Decarus: "Why are we here."
Niko: "You wanted to do an assignment for your class and what better way to do so than to visit the very place where it all began."
Decarus: "What began here."
Niko: "Today is a day that shall change this nation in ways that have never been seen in sixty years. Unfortunately it won't be in a positive way and the consequences would be resounding for many years to come."
Decarus: "How will it happen."
(Niko checks his watch and looks straight ahead at two huge buildings.)
Niko: "Look up at these two huge structures. They are quite significant in the events that shall occur for the next twenty years and beyond as the archives have recorded them."
Decarus: "You were there to observe them."
Niko: "We were son and we recorded them for the records to study but it's better to see things in person than to just study the archives. However, we can not interfere or history will be altered and this would not have happened or any history for that matter would not have happened."
Decarus: "Why are we looking these structures."
Niko: "Watch what is going to happen."
(They continue to look up at the two huge buildings ignoring the people going around them. Niko and Decarus see something slam into the upper floors of the buildings and Decarus is shocked as Niko just looks on.)
Decarus: "What just happened."
Niko: "What you just saw would be the beginning of The War on Terror and the date is September 11th, 2001. These two structures are known as the Twin Towers that were struck by terrorists."
Decarus: "On our world we would have slaughtered them without mercy if they did that."
Niko: "On this world there are different ways of justice towards those who break laws. Now continue to observe the result of what happens to these two structures which were supposedly indestructible but their weakness was the substance known as asbestos. That object that blew up the upper floors were loaded with explosives which also contributed to it's fate which destroyed both towers. There was a similar attempt in the nation's capitol and in a place called Shwenkville, Pa. the passengers on that plane overcame the terrorists and crashed the plane there preventing worse carnage."
Decarus: "So they were heroes."
Niko: "Yes they were called heroes. The great first responders such as the police and fire fighters along with the hospital staffs were working hard and placed themselves on the line to try and treat those injured or those effected by the toxic dust. The firefighters attempted to water down the dust and the police attempted to keep those running away from trampling each other."
Decarus: "What about the people in those buildings."
Niko: "Unfortunately they were doomed. Many who worked in the Twin Towers were from other countries on this planet and they were considered heroes in their respective nations. So were the first responders in this city and President George W. Bush honored these fine individuals as did the nation and he declared the War on Terror."
Decarus: "What happened next."
Niko: "What happened next was quite controversial. There was a 9/11 Commission to investigate this incident and the president foolishly blamed a nation called Iraq even though it's dictator Saddam Hussein condemned the attack. Yet Bush did blame him and used it as an excuse to overthrow and have him placed on trial and executed. Yet the real suspects were from Saudi Arabia and Iran. Yet it was the terrorists known as the Taliban who ruled Afghanistan at the time who were harboring the terrorists."
Decarus: "Did he pursue them."
Niko: "He did and he overthrow them and yet he claimed victory too soon and he had Iran surrounded but didn't bother to overthrow the Iranians. Thus the war continued beyond his leadership. However, every year this nation honors the fallen victims and first responders as heroes and vows to never forget these heroes or anyone who sacrificed their lives trying to keep order and calm in the face of terror. These were people who were heroes from those first responders to the victims who couldn't escape."
Decarus: "Do we honor them."
Niko: "We honor our fallen just like this nation honors their fallen as the heroes they are and always will be. We shall never forget all the heroes who made the brave sacrifices on this day of great tragedy. After this tragic day the whole area around the buildings became sacred hallowed grounds with a beautiful pool and there would be iron supports from the Twin Towers and a subway concourse along with the names of the victims September 11th, 2001. Everyone honors them including politicians no matter which faction they belong to. There was a future president who claimed he saw Muslims literally dancing in the streets without any evidence to prove it happened.
However, the archives shall see if this actually happened."
(They continue to watch the Twin Towers burn and watch as people and glass fall from the towers until the towers begin to collapse.)
Niko: "It is time to go Decarus and you can now do your assignment with success."
Decarus: "Can I use the archives for the rest of the assignment."
Niko: "As long as it's for study and nothing else."
Decarus: "I promise father."
(They disappear as the scene slowly fades to black.)
