(Scene opens up backstage at the Sahara Events Center, inside the locker room of Haus of Salvaje. The camera crew is focused on Maddox, sitting on a stool in front of a brightly lit mirror, he's sitting and staring at himself, blankly. He's shirtless and in a pair of nike shorts. You can see in his eyes the disappointment but they also look completely empty. Candy walks out of the bathroom, stops in her tracks and see's the cameras and also see's Maddox still in the same spot. She walks over to him and puts her arms around him and nuzzles her chin into his shoulders and his neck)
CANDY: There's no way that I am going to let you be so down on yourself. Just take a couple deep breaths.
(Maddox breaks from his staring contest at the mirror and looks up at her through the mirror)
MADDOX: To be honest, I'm just exhausted. That was a lot of work.
CANDY: That It was. The price you pay when your main event talent my friend.
MADDOX: But none the less, Rain got the best of me.
CANDY: This time, Mad. This time. Every wrestler goes through this. You win some, you lose some.
MADDOX: Yeah but this one was so much more than that, Candy. This had more involved than just win or lose.
CANDY: Trust me, I know It did but so what?
MADDOX: What do you mean so what?
CANDY: So what?! The Black Hand won. Rain won. What does that mean for you? What does that mean for me? What does that mean for the Alliance? We keep going. The higher they climb, the further they have to fall.
MADDOX: I just wanted that so bad. I wanted that for us, I wanted that for Pixi, I wanted that for Ruby.
CANDY: We know, we know that Maddox. But Ruby or Pixi also couldn't get the job done tonight. That's just the reality. You guys all wrestled brilliantly but technical wrestling hasn't always been your strongest point and that's the only way either one of you could have won that match. Rain just knows more about holds than you.
MADDOX: Truth be told, Rain is a great technical wrestler. We all knew that going into It but my training clearly did not help me at the end of the day cause I tapped.
CANDY: For THAT match. It's just one match.
MADDOX: I know, I know. If It were by pin fall or KO, I feel like I would have had the advantage but I didn't. The ball was in his court and he won.
CANDY: Yes but if you keep going over everything that happened, it's going to drive you insane.
MADDOX: What's going to drive me insane is the fact that we have to sit here and listen to The Black Hand STILL continue to talk about how they are the best.
CANDY: Here's the bright side. The only TWO who really can brag about anything is Rain and Bishop. They both won their respective matches. Diaz and Miller both got eliminated.
MADDOX: Damn straight they did. I took pleasure in eliminating that asshole. So little baby Rain, I was an Apex Killer. Hard for you to chew though, isn't It?
CANDY: See, half glass full.
(She pauses)
CANDY: The Black Hand may have won as a collective but only Rain pulled It off. You were the last standing Alliance member. There are takeaways from this.
MADDOX: I know, I know but again, we have to sit here and listen to these tool bags brag about how they are "the apex" and how they are dominating UPW. Just gets tiring after awhile.
(Maddox stands up from the stool and walks over to the couch, crashing into the cushions, kicking his feet up on the coffee table in front of him)
MADDOX: There's ONE THING that Rain is incorrect about.
CANDY: Whats that?
MADDOX: He said that nobody was at his level.
CANDY: Well, I can see what he "means" per say as he won the match but we always know the delusion is real with The Black Hand. They are always smoking the same shit.
MADDOX: A few of us were at a pretty spectacular level and gave the fans a show but sure whatever, if Rain wants to be cocky enough to claim he was the only one at a top notch level, well, go ahead with your bad self. I'll let you bask in your glory and your win for now but like Candy said, It was just ONCE. You may have won the battle but the war is far from over. You guys have people coming at you from every single angle. You guys have pissed off an assortment of people and you have a lot of things to answer for. You may take wrestling serious and this may be your profession, but, news flash, we all feel the same...except for Diaz perhaps.
CANDY: Regardless of what happened, win or lose you continue to be a star. I know you don't need for me to remind you of that. There are always ups and down, ebb and flow. Just because The Black Hand is on top now does not mean that they will not be taken down in the future. Let them brag, let them parade around backstage as if they are gods greatest gifts to wrestling because those types of people have to face their reality hard when they don't actually reach their goal.
MADDOX: Here here to that. We have to look onward and upward. We didn't need that win to prove The Alliance and those within the Alliance are stars. The Black Hand may have walked out of Sin City Strike with wins to their names but that doesn't mean anything with a long term game in mind. People are still on your ass and people are still hungry to destroy your little circle jerk. More motivation for us and more motivation for other people to make sure you guys fall and fall hard.
CANDY: Correct. (She pauses) Now we have a lot to prepare for considering we are facing Wicked at the next Friday Night Free For All. Those two don't have any regards for "rules" so we have a lot to watch out for and prepare for.
MADDOX: Let's think about that later. I just want a burger right now.
CANDY: I feel that. I was hungry watching you guys.
(Maddox gets up from the couch and throws a tank top on. He grabs his suitcase and starts to walk for the door. Candy stops in front of him and wraps him up in a hug)
CANDY: I know how badly you wanted that win. But, I'm proud of you. Your fans are proud of you and you're an essential asset to this business. UPW would lose steam without you and they wouldn't be able to replace you or I. So take solace in that. Madame Wu knows what she has in you and I. So, we'll keep trucking along. Keep proving ourselves. We just do what we normally do best....be fucking stars.
MADDOX: Thank you, I love you sis.
CANDY: I love you too. Now lets go get them burgers.
(They swing open the door and exit. The Scene fades)
