(The camera opens to the exterior of Pura Vida Grinds in Mesa, Arizona. We find UP Wrestling stars Cage and “Thunder Kid” Ron Masterson sitting outside of their now usual meet-up spot in between trainings. Masterston is dressed in a pair of black shorts, a gray t-shirt, and his hair pulled back. Meanwhile, Cage is dressed in a pair of denim shorts, a black Mesa Community College Thunderbirds t-shirt, and a knee brace on his left knee. The two are in between sips of coffee when Donnie D. Falco emerges from the shop, carrying a coffee, and followed behind by Alison.)
DONNIE: I’m tellin’ ya Ali, you need to be watching it. It’s fantastic?
RON: What’s that?
DONNIE: Oh I’ve been watching a documentary on Netflix, that’s all.
RON: (sighs) Another serial killer one?
DONNIE: No.
RON: UFOs?
DONNIE: NO!
ALISON: I will give it a look, Donnie.
CAGE: (shakes his head) Nothing wrong with a good paranormal documentary, by the way.
DONNIE: That’s what I’m saying! Anyway, listen kid, you’ve got a tag match coming up and I know you and Cage have been training but…
RON: I know, Donnie. Cage and I have been going through some things.
DONNIE: It’s just they’ve got a lot of history tagging together.
CAGE: They do, and there is something to be said about experience. However, I’m no stranger to tag matches, neither is Ron, and we’ve trained together for some time.
RON: We might’ve even figured out a finisher.
ALISON: Oh yeah?
RON: Yeah, I really think it could be effective. I’m just really happy to be teaming with you Cage. I know you’ve had some things on your mind recently with TCE.
(Cage nods his head.)
ALISON: Who is that guy, anyway?
DONNIE: Talk about a blast from Cage’s past.
CAGE: (takes a drink) TCE and I have gone back almost fifteen, sixteen years now? We ran together as a team for sometime and then, well… his ambition sort of put an end to it. When it comes to people who’ve pushed me to the limit over my career, he’s it.
ALISON: What do you mean?
RON: He’s the guy who Cage almost always has come up short against.
ALISON: Wait… really?
CAGE: Yeah.
DONNIE: Listen, we’ve got Public Nuisance in front of us, this ride down the past isn’t gonna plan us for the future.
CAGE: Donnie’s right. What TCE and I have in our future now that he’s here in UP, well, that’s for another time. But the plan for us right now Ron is to walk into Free-For-All and make a statement. We can make a statement to every team and stable here in UP that we’re on a mission for gold.
RON: I’m pretty sure we can do that.
CAGE: And Public Nuisance has made a name for themselves in UP since the first days, so getting a win over them makes just the kind of statement we’re looking for. Then, we’ll build on from that and go forward to the next challenge. And we’ll do that each week until we get to the title picture.
ALISON: But what about TCE?
CAGE: TCE will do everything he can to make himself known. I’m already counting on him trying to get involved where he can. And we’ll take care of it when it comes to that.
RON: Absolutely. I’ve got your back, Cage.
(The quartet continue drinking their coffee. Fade to black.)
