A figure walks into the training dojo and surveys the scene of carnage laid out before him. It is D. He scans the room, searching for someone when he hears a delicate cough. He goes to the source of the cough to see that Minerva is trying to lift her head.
D: Minerva!
D gets down to the floor and cradles Minerva’s form in his arms.
D: Who has done this?
Minerva tries to speak, but gags instead. She coughs a splatter of blood onto D’s chest before she can get the words out.
Minerva: Madame Lussier. My…sisters…
D doesn’t even look. He knows their conditions. Whomever did this was skilled. Far more skilled than what ordinary security for a pimp should be.
D: Dead.
Minerva:…no. The Valkyries…taken.
D: We will get them back. Just save your strength until we can get help.
D feels her bleeding through the several gunshot wounds in an ever expanding pool. He knows for certain that help will be too late.
D: Why did you stay? You could have left this life with me.
Minerva just smiles, blood trickling from the corners of her mouth.
Minerva: I…believe in the…cause.
Just then, the door to the dojo opens again and Esmeralda von Krauss walks in with an expensive coffee in hand. She seems happy.
Esmeralda von Krauss: Oh, dahlings. I have discovered that my husband will be returning to NPW soon. Was in aller Welt ist hier passiert?
Esmeralda’s coffee falls to spill across the floor as she rushes to Minerva’s side.
Esmeralda von Krauss: Oh Minerva, my Goddess. D?
D shakes his head, letting her know without words that Minerva is not going to make it. Esmeralda’s expression turns grim.
Esmeralda von Krauss: No. This will not do!
Esmeralda grabs a small silver blade, causing D to flinch, but he does not drop Minerva.
Esmeralda von Krauss: Shush, dahling. This blade is not for you, it is for me.
She takes the blade and slices it across her wrist. The blood is thick, dark red nearly black as it oozes out of the wound. She brings the wound to Miranda’s mouth.
Esmeralda von Krauss: Drink, dahling. I will not let you go into the next world on this day.
A drop of the blood passes Minerva’s lips and into her mouth. Her eyes go wide at the taste and she manages to grab hold of Esmeralda’s arm with both hands and drinks deeply of Esmeralda’s offering. As she drinks the bullet wounds that are exposed seal themselves closed, one of which spits a ruined bullet out before the wound seals itself up. Color begins flushing Minerva’s cheeks.
Esmeralda von Krauss: That is enough, Mein Kind.
It takes some effort, but Minerva releases Esmeralda’s arm. D and Minerva watch as the wound on Esmeralda’s arm slowly reseals itself.
D: What are you?
Esmeralda absently waves D off.
Esmeralda von Krauss: A tale for another day, dahling. Minerva, what has happened here? Where are my Valkyries?
Her strength quickly returning, Minerva sits up and explains to Esmeralda and D about what had happened, though she does not know Skokusi’s name.
Esmeralda von Krauss: D. I have released those women who did not want this life. Those who stayed behind did so because they believed in being something bigger than theirselves as opposed to being coerced to kill. Will you help me get them back?
D: I will not help you fight a war.
Esmeralda von Krauss: I did not ask you to. I ask that you help me rescue my Valkyries. I will handle the war to come alone.
Minerva: You have me, my mistress. What have you done to me? I feel stronger than I have ever been?
Esmeralda von Krauss: The power you feel will burn itself out and you will be normal once again, but for now. You will be truly as a Goddess. They will feel your wrath. D? Will you help us save lives? My Valkyries have done nothing wrong.
D sighs as Minerva stands up and extends her own hand to help D up to his feet. He looks down to see that he is covered in Minerva’s blood. She should be dead, but now she is whole and healthy.
D: Once your Valkyries are free. I will be done. I want you to know that.
Esmeralda von Krauss: Yes, I know. You don’t want to fight a war, dahling. I will honor that.
Esmeralda von Krauss stands up to join the others. She gets out a black foot long holder to pop in an Egyptian cigarette and light it.
Esmeralda von Krauss: First, we must clean up here and then. D? I need to know more about this Madame Lussier to know where we will need to strike to find my Valkyries.
D nods, looking down at the slain goons and Goddesses. It was a tragic waste of lives. He looks to Minerva, the act of rebirth staining her cheeks a blood red.
D: Any brothels we hit…we simply free the girls. Yes? This will not become a recruitment drive.
Esmeralda von Krauss: Yes, yes. Very well. I will call my clean up crew. You two. Get cleaned up and hit the streets. Madame Lussier is said to have several brothels and who knows what else. Find us a target to strike her back with and find where my Valkyries have been taken to.
D and Minerva nod, heading to the back where Esmeralda has a locker room. Esmeralda looks at the scene again. Her hand goes to her forehead as she swoons a little, but then goes back to her side as she gathers her own strength.
Esmeralda von Krauss: You want war, Madame Lussier. You will have it.
D: Minerva!
