The scene opens with David Berg walking down the street when an elderly couple walk by him with a large Rottweiler. The couple is small and frail looking and the Rottweiler tugs. As Berg walks by the Rottweiler sniffs him as Berg pets him.
Old Lady: He seems to like you. He doesn’t like very many people.
Berg: Is he yours?
Old Lady: Zeus is my son’s but we dog sit sometimes. Although it is getting hard.
Old Man: Yes sir. We ain’t as young as we used to be and this guy is a handful.
(Berg plays with the dog and bit and then bids the old couple a farewell)
Berg: When you are the King of the Streets, even the dogs respect you. It reminds me of a story. I was only 19 and in the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF). We were on patrol near the border of the Gaza strip when we were ambushed. We easily fought off the terrorist Palestinian attackers but in the wake of the skirmish a dog, a small brown dog was hit and lay on the ground whimpering. I came over and tried to help it but it was shot and suffering. I was unsure of what to do when my Captain shot it and killed it. I was outraged. How can one kill a poor defenseless animal? Not that the terrorist Palestinians would understand as they hate dogs.
But I digress. The Captain told me that it was unfair to let the creature suffer and it was more humane to put it down, no matter how much it hurts.
(Berg pauses)
Berg: Why am I telling you this? I just saw the vignette from the so called Crimson Mask. And I want to say to the Crimson Mask that I hear you. I understand you. I do. I see your pain. Do not worry, I will do what must be done. I will heed your call for help and I will put an end to your misery. Just like a wounded animal cries for help, I hear your cries. I will not hesitate, I will not stall, I will unleash the might of all of ancient Judea upon you.
(Berg pauses)
Berg: There are of course several other competitors in this match. I will not bore you by listing them once more. What is puzzling is how silent they have been. They, each in their own right must take me lightly. After all I am just a rookie as you say. A 22-year old naïve young man from an ancient foreign land. What possibly could I do in a gauntlet match? They do not understand that I carry the blood, the souls the courage and the will of thousands of years of my people. They do not understand that I will never give up, I will never quit, I will go on until someone puts me down for good. That is the least that I owe to my ancestors. To my people. To my country. To my American allies.
(Berg Pauses)
Berg: The Crimson Mask has descended into some strange world of darkness. I do not understand if he is battling his demons or embracing them. It of course matters very little. The end result will be the same if he face me in that ring.
(Berg pauses and sighs)
Berg: I know that I must take baby steps to get my name out there but is there a way to accelerate this? Is there a way to get on the card in Japan and take my message to the Far East. Take the message of the chosen people to the Far East? It is an excellent opportunity and to achieve it, I will. No I must….I must put everything I have into the gauntlet match. I must persevere. For those that take me lightly do so at your own peril.
(Berg walks off).
