I saw a random Dragonite in town once when I walked in with my son. I was absolutely gobsmacked because literally all you see are the usual common rutal-area Pokémon. Sometimes we are lucky enough to get the odd uncommon one room in, we did have a Mr. Mime nest for the longest time - but I digress, there he was, a fully-evolved Dragonite outside the youth club. I caught him with pretty much my last pokeball.
His IVs are something like 0,15,0 lol. Still does good enough in gyms thanks to the rework.
I also hatched a Lapras, never saw one in the wild, but he's got 100% IVs.

100 IV Lapras that's badass.
I guess I'm the ass hole of the bunch with a complete pokedex minus Mr. Mime and Fafetched regionals.

Trubbish is NOT in Go. Go right now is just the first 2 gens through Silver/Gold/Crystal. They are still rolling out legendaries. Correct, excuse my poor explanation. I caught some bug I'd never seen even though I cleared Silver a couple of times in the past. That or I just forgot. When I looked up the current lineup of like, 800~ I saw the rest. Gen 3+. And Trubbish is the worst Pokemon creation I've ever seen. Like, Muk was cool and all, but a bag of rubbish.... Having said that, I now desperately want to play the new games to see what other wonders I find. Maybe they'll make a Pint. Guinnessmon. Or a vibrator. Pleasurchu. I'd play the hell out of that game.

I've seen some extensive analysis of each pokemon one by one from a design perspective (because I am a man that reads such things). It did a better job than I ever could of breaking down the alleged differences between old and new that tend to come up in these conversations. The main one I remember is that if you look at them individually there are definitely differences in the design approach to Gen 1 pokemon compared with later generations, but Gen 2 pokemon have far more in common with Gen 3 than 1. Also the group of designers were similar and we know from concept art that many third gen pokemon concepts were carried over ones designed for the second. Makes sense because after the success of the first games and the inevitability of sequels they would have had to introduce a process to design more that would start with Gold and Silver.
Yet as has happened already twice in this thread, people put the design switchover as 2>3 rather than 1>2. One cynical reason for this is to say blahblah nostalgia people had a Game Boy but got older and didn't get a Game Boy Advance (which if they stopped pokemonning completely at that point mean twenty years is obviously going to shape their reaction). Another reason is that Gen 2 was atrocious at actually showing Gen 2 pokemon. You'd have the starters, the rodents/birds etc at the start of the game but others wouldn't show until like one route in Kanto after the elite four that no sane person would use in their team. Some weren't even used by any of the trainers you fought. Most of the pokemon you encountered were the same old faces. So Gold/Silver was more of an expansion pack to Red/Green/Blue where its new pokemon are either associated with Gen 1 as one of the few new faces that were sprinkled in with the old in G/S or they made such a fleeting appearance that they are more commonly associated with later games where they had their first substantial appearances.

I have actually enjoyed all Pokemon, lol. I don't really like when they add extra pre/evolutions to the chains; but the forms thing recently added is cool- though a little sad that it was added so late in the game.
I play a fan game called Pokemon Island, which has mons up through Black/White- that game rocks
