Howdy! Third thread tonight lessgo.
______
So as of tonight, we have 32 wrestlers in our active roster section. While some of that may be need to be pruned, 24 is how many are contributing to FIRESIDE's upcoming show.
I don't believe in roster limits. I know that is an insane number, and an insane statement to make. I just believe we are the greatest fuckin' efed ever, and anyone who can play nice deserves a chance to be a part of it. That being said, it's very big.
When I started FIRESIDE, it was a passion project. It then grew to where I knew I needed help. We brought in Strych (Discord name) aka Vodka Fizz who is consistently getting better and is honestly so appreciated -- he is the epitome of solid, always learning and ready to take feedback, and generally really gives a shit. He wrote our last X-Crown match and I'm excited that he's not really a junior admin so much as an admin. So give him a good shout, I know sometimes people think of this as my fed, and while I am the owner, he really does contribute a good goddamn deal to everything and deserves to be just as acknowledged/thanked.
Recently, we had started to slip behind on hitting shows on time. To be honest, this is not the end of the world, but it reflects poorly and shows signs for improvement. This is a product of a few things: the expanding roster is one of them, the other is expanding lives. I am trying to move in 2021/2022 and now have a much more-serious job (the early shows were written with me fucking around at my desk at work). Fizz is very capable and great, but neither of us wants to write three matches in a show. The world is in various stages of reopening and to be honest it is a pain in the ass to suddenly drop ten hours every third week to get a show up and running, especially as I look to get back into the world and pick up more of a social life. I would like to still keep this place as the efed mecca it's turned into, so we need help.
This all being said, effective two weeks ago, we've brought on Spike Kane as an admin. You all know Spike -- great guy, talented writer, used to do this before in a past life. We all know he can succeed and are excited to give him the shot. He is going to help sure up our team and pick up judging and match writing. I know I should give him a longer introduction, but the point is that he's pretty great at having a mind for this stuff and being a cooperative human being, so this is going to help shore up the ship and keep things moving. Please send him congrats and appreciation, he deserves any nice words you might have for him. If you'd like to see a preview of his work, he wrote the electrified cage match that may have stolen the show last PPV, so there's that.

Please note: this is not about any other e-fed. Please do not make it about any other e-fed. I'm not trying to start shit for once. Thank you.
So right now Vodka Fizz is our SPARK Champion, Spike Kane is the X-Crown champion, and I'm looking to get back into active competition (this is my way of saying vs. Anthony Caffrey matches are coming soon, reach out if you want one). So suddenly, we're three writers in the mix and also judges and that creates kind of a conflict. Let me walk you through what's happened in the past.
In the past, whenever Fizz competed in a match, I would grab a Network admin to provide a second opinion. I believe Fizz has a reasonable record -- it is a winning one I think, though he's definitely also lost a handful of contests toward the beginning as well.
Now in the present, I would like to point out that admins generally are grabbed from a pool of writers who have shown to be talented and interested. Think about it this way: if you're a casual bowler and bowl under 100, I'm not going to want you for my competitive bowling team. But if you're a dedicated player rolling 100-200 everytime you go out, you're more likely to land a spot.
Going forward, matches below world title/X-Crown level will be judged solely in-house. Any matches at that level will have a Network admin sitting in to judge as well. If for some reason multiple admins are in the same match, multiple Network admins will judge with the remaining regular admin.
If you also feel weird/sticky going against a judge, you can request a Network judge to sit in on a given match as well. We'll be fine to grab someone.
One last thing: you might think that we have some kind of advantage because we know each other's preferences. I know jackshit about how Voddy picks winners (we disagree quite often), and the same about Spike. The only way to determine our preferences is to read match results and ask for your own RP feedback, but even then our tastes can differentiate/there may be factors at play. What wins someone a championship one week might not be the fourth best promo on the card the next. There is no published guide for what we're looking for because we're all looking for different things. Great writing takes many shapes.

Call for Match Writers
Besides the admins (the three of us!), we have two guest match writers for this upcoming show. If anything you've read inspires you to jump in and help out, we'd be happy to have you! Reach out and message us -- we can use all experience levels. If you think you suck, the only way to get better is to try, and we'd be happy to help. We have a continous call for match writers going -- meaning if you ever have the free time, please, please reach out. A special thank you to anyone who's signed up to write in the past, the present, or the future. Your work helps the shows so much.
As we conclude, a reminder that we care about all of our match writers and their mental health. We have no intention of burning out anyone and try to operate on a healthier schedule to make this happen. So if you're worried about being stressed out, please note that we try to make this as easy and fun as possible. Reach out with any questions!
