The roof of the apartment building where Zolothach and Randy Angel live. Zolothach sits in the middle of the ring in her ragged gown. She’s soaked to the core from the driving rain and howling wind. Lightning flashes across the sky, announcing nature’s belligerent anger with Zolothach for her audacity to break her laws.
As the days have come and gone, the spell has gained more power, driven more momentum, and strips more away from Nomi Genjo. Zolothach shouts the cursed name, spitting her bile as she does so. Sending the poisonous hate from deep in her being out into the world to bring the Gilded Giant down once and for all.
Randy Angel opens the door to the roof access, holding onto the door so that it doesn’t slam open from the wind. It’s November. The weather is nearly cold enough for snow and Tabitha is out in the world in only her dirty asylum dress. He closes the door behind him and cups his hands to his mouth so that he can yell.
Randy Angel: Zolothach! I just want you to know what I saw on the news! You won’t be fighting much of Brad Kane. You’ll be fighting his other personality too! The Reckless Jack!
Tabitha seems to bear Randy no mind as she howls the name of her enemy over and over, giving over a little of her own precious sanity to expose herself to forces beyond the rule of mankind to be able to bring down her foe once and for all. Lightning crashes down, striking an area just a foot above Zolothach’s head. It arcs in a half sphere around her where it strikes the circle of protection runes that glow brightly from the power being channeled into them. You can almost see the faint shimmer of the shield of protection around Zolothach.
Standing outside of the ring, the thunderous blast takes Randy Angel off of his feet. He sits up against the wall by the roof access door and shakes his head, taking a nip from the flask from his pocket.
Randy Angel: Zolothach! You’ve got to stop this madness!
Just then, the door to the roof access opens up to reveal a gaunt Nomi Genjo.
Nomi Genjo: I will end this with her own blade.
Randy jumps up in front of the Gilded Giant.
Randy Angel: NO!
Nomi has been weakened by the spell for days, but he is still bigger and stronger than Randy Angel. He grabs Randy by the shoulder with one hand and stabs him several times with the other.
Nomi Genjo: You won’t be a nuisance this time around.
The sight of Randy Angel falling to the floor, blood pouring from his wounds, is what draws Zolothach’s attention. Her eyes, full of anger, full of despair, full of murderous hate greet those of Nomi Genjo’s as he steps up to the ring apron.
Zolothach’s voice matches that of the thunder from the lightning crashes in the sky from her spewing her hate, her bitter anger, her twisted sense of justice at Nomi Genjo as much as about him.
A ghostly essence being of Nomi Genjo seems to rip away from his form, to be consigned to the wind where it stretches impossibly long until it’s torn into bits to feed the hungry spell. He seems weaker in body, duller in mind, and shrunken in spirit. It does not stop him from stepping into the ring and raising the ritual dagger over head. He brings it down where it clashes against the half sphere brought about by the circle of protection. A focuses light glows at the end of the dagger where it attempts to pierce the protection. The glow expands across the shell of the protection as Genjo puts more strength into the dagger. He places his other hand onto the hilt to try to drive the ancient blade through the arcane protections. Sparks fly away from the point of contact as the blade begins to wear away at the vast energies of the circle.
Zolothach keeps her eyes trained on Genjo’s as she screams his name with all of her being as she holds the soaked silk paper in her hands. Blood trickles from the corners of Zolothach’s mouth as testament of the damage done to herself through the casting of this spell. More of Nomi Genjo is stripped away, consigned to destruction in the howling winds that encircle the apartment building. Still he seems to have more power in him. More defiance. More anger. More hatred for the woman who drove him out of Japan. Slowly but surely, the tip of the blade slips in through the sphere. Genjo grits his teeth as he puts even more of his remaining self into the working of the dagger, gliding more and more of the blade into the sphere until he reaches the hilt tapping the sphere of energy.
Nomi Genjo: You are finished!
Genjo rips the blade out with a shower of sparks and drive it in again in one fell swoop at the same exact section that lightning strikes the sphere. The blue white energy half sphere shatters into a million pieces and the circle of protection blows itself out from the inside to the out, the energies vanishing from it before the very runes are cast into the wind.
Zolothach arcs her back back before leaning forward and unleashing Nomi Genjo’s name with all of her being, her eyes glowing in fury. Genjo seizes her by the throat and lifts her slowly, achingly, into the air.
Nomi Genjo: Give back what you have taken from me, witch!
Zolothach tries to answer, but she cannot speak from being choked.
Nomi Genjo: Give back my power!
Zolothach kicks Genjo in the crotch and gets out of his grasp, dropping back down to the mat. She picks up the sodden silk paper and lets out an anguished scream of Nomi Genjo’s name. Genjo shakes his head and slams home the ritual dagger just inches below Zolothach’s heart, cracking several ribs with the hilt. He leaves the dagger there as Zolothach falls to the mat, blood leaking around the dagger.
Motes of light form from thin air and stream back to Nomi Genjo like micro comets. He grows bigger, stronger, and healthier with each mote given to him. He laughs, stepping on the ritual dagger to send the hilt through the two ribs that were blocking it from going fully in and drives the tip of the dagger into the mat.
Nomi Genjo: You thought your Cthulhu witchcraft could stop me. The Gilded Giant! I am unstoppable! I am invincible!
Zolothach: Great Cthulhu…I call to you. Please…help your most faithful servant.
The wind stops as if someone had flipped a switch and the clouds clear above the apartment building. Millions of stars can be seen through the massive gap in the clouds. There is a loud noise like etching glass that can be heard throughout the entire city. Cracks form in the black sky that seems to form the argument that the stars are just breathing holes in a glass bowl as they are connected from crack to crack until the entire thing shatters to reveal a ghastly green sky where great building sized tentacles reach down to the building.
Nomi Genjo stares up into the sky, his senses having fled him at the sight of Great Cthulhu himself through the hole in the sky. A tentacle slowly wraps itself around the fright frozen Genjo and rips him up into the air. It squeezes him, the motes of life energy streaming from the Gilded Giant and flowing into the dying forms of Randy Angel and Zolothach. The ritual dagger of Zolothach pops out of her chest and lays down next to her. Eventually, Randy and Zolothach are able to stand up and watch on as Nomi Genjo is laid back down onto the mat. He seems like a raisin if his healthy form was like a grape. He wheezes as he breathes. The tentacles withdraw and the stars are right once again as if the Great Old One had never been there.
Zolothach and Randy stand next to him.
Zolothach: I should put him out of his misery.
Randy Angel: No. I have a better idea.
It isn’t very long later before a local nursing home has their van there to collect the old, enfeebled Nomi Genjo.
Randy Angel: He will never be able to harm us again.
Zolothach: Now I can focus on Reckless Jack Brad Kane. I don’t care which one oof his little personalities shows up. I’m going to break him. I’m going to make it seem as if his battles with his brother, Spike Kane, were all just a prologue before meeting me. I will send him flying back into Hell for the comfort of the tortures that they give over the pain and degradation that I will inflict upon him!
