(The camera opens up to the interior of the WFA Arena in Mesa, Arizona, the small promotion that was the training ground of Ron Masterson in his early days, the home of Cage for quite some time. While the ring is quiet, Mia Garcia walks the ringside area, her gaze looking for someone. She comes across the form of Cage, sitting in a pair of denim shorts, a black t-shirt, and covered still in cuts and scars from his deathmatch with TCE, an icepack on his shoulder from Jester LeBeau, and a smile on his face.)
GARCIA: You know, you are becoming a little hard to find. You and Ron.
CAGE: Yeah, that kid hasn’t been returning my calls for a little while either. Donnie says not to worry about it, seems like he and Allison are enjoying being young and in love.
GARCIA: (smiles) Something you remember, “old timer?”
CAGE: Maybe. (Cage brings the ice pack down) So, what brings you to the Thunder-Dome?
GARCIA: Well, you are in a main event in a few days, with the guy who did a number on your shoulder and Pixi against Devin Bishop, Nathaniel, and CJ Walker. All this leading into Vendetta, so what exactly do you think of your chances at being voted for the title match?
(Cage shrugs.)
CAGE: If chosen, I’ll make the best of it. It’s a talented field, but one thing at a time. LeBeau, Pixi, and I are gonna have a bit of a fight on our hands.
GARCIA: And you think you can work alongside them?
CAGE: Sure, why couldn’t I?
GARCIA: All vying to show you are the next contender, LeBeau was able to get you to tap last show, professional competition?
CAGE: (laughs) All good reasons to think I might not, but this business is wild like that. Competition is one thing, we all look to compete and prove we’re the best on a given night. That’s bound to happen. It’s not like TCE and I. That was hell, that was personal, that was nothing to do with professional competition.
GARCIA: And you are still banged up from it. You don’t think anyone in the match is going to take advantage of that.
CAGE: I’m always banged up. Someday that might change, but it isn’t today, and it’s not tomorrow, and it’s not Friday.
(The door opens and we see Donnie D. Falco and Ron Masterson walk in, tailed by Allison.)
GARCIA: Well hello there!
RON: (smiling) Hi Mia.
DONNIE: Alright kid, ask him.
CAGE: (to Mia) Sounds ominous, doesn’t it?
GARCIA: A little.
RON: Well, it’s nothing like that. Listen, you know things have been off recently with things and I have a tag match coming up with Bryan.
CAGE: Yeah Ron, I know.
RON: But the thing is… I still have this thing from Christmas Chaos. And I need to talk to you about it. I’m thinking of knowing when to use it, I just need your input.
CAGE: Of course Ron, anytime.
(Ron looks at Mia, a bit of a guilty look on his face. Mia understands though and gets up.)
GARCIA: Just don’t want it spoiled?
RON: Sorry.
GARCIA: Not a problem, Ron. (to Cage) We’ll catch up again?
CAGE: You got it.
(Mia gets up and begins walking out of the small arena area as Ron walks up to Cage.)
CAGE: Okay kid, whatcha got?
(Fade to black.)
GARCIA: You know, you are becoming a little hard to find. You and Ron.
