“Zolothach” Tabitha Osborne and Randy Angel stand amongst a crowd of Philadelphians and watch in the evening time as a light up parade goes down the street. Marching bands from local schools, Christmas themed floats, local politicians, fair queens, local Shriners, and more can be seen going down the street in decorated vehicles or on foot. Speakers attached to the street lights speak to a play by play of the floats and people coming down the street so that everyone knows what’s going on.
Tabitha stands next to Randy, both of them in Winter coats and enjoying cups of hot cocoa (though Randy’s hot chocolate has a bit of Skrewball Peanut butter whiskey in his). They stand dangerously close to one another, spare hands seeming as if they were blindly in search of one another, but failing to connect to hold hands as a couple would.
Tabitha spares glances at Randy that are not only friendly, but almost seem longingly, lovingly. Her friend means so much more to her nowadays. He glances at her and smiles in sweet, sweet oblivion to the emotions churning under the expression of Tabitha.
Randy Angel: It’s a lovely parade. I’m glad we came out to see it.
Tabitha Osborne: Everything is lovely when it’s done with you.
Randy Angel: What’s that?
Tabitha Osborne: Nothing at all. Just that it is a nice day.
Just then, Tabitha feels a pressure in the back of her mind. Something unnatural is coming through the ether, but she cannot pinpoint the source. Just then, Randy Angel starts coughing raggedly. He drops his hot chocolate and falls to all fours where he begins to cough up blood.
Tabitha looks down at him, a sudden panic filling her. Did her healing spell backfire?
Tabitha Osborne: RANDY!
Tabitha kneels down by Randy’s side and rubs his back as he coughs and gags more blood. The blood also runs from his nose, ears, and eyes.
A lady runs to their side. A lady with long blonde hair and an expensive business suit jacket over a button up blouse with a power skirt. She has a cup in her hand that she passes to Randy.
Strange woman: Here. Drink this.
Randy nods and takes a drink from the cup. He smiles as he sits down.
Randy Angel: Vodka.
Tabitha frowns at the lady, sensing that the disturbance has passed.
Tabitha Osborne: He’s coughing up blood and you think that vodka will cure him?
Strange woman: Well, it is one of the main ingredients. It covers the potion that will reknit his blood vessels inside his body.
Tabitha nods, almost in understanding. Except that no one in the ether, like Nomi Genjo, could harm Randy without fully crossing over. Someone nearby is using supernatural abilities, but who?
Tabitha Osborne: Thank you, miss…I don’t think I got your name.
The strange lady smiles, but it’s not an uncomfortable sight.
Strange lady: My name is Alexis Logan. I represent a number of business interests around the world. I’m glad that I was here to help.
Tabitha Osborne: I am glad that you were here to help too. I am trying to sense where the attack came from, but I’m not having any luck.
Alexis Logan places a couple of fingers to get temple as if that could maybe help her sense where the attack may have come from. She takes on a sad expression and shakes her head.
Alexis Logan: I don’t sense anything right now, but that potion should get him where he needs to be.
Tabitha Osborne: That’s fantastic! Now, what can I do for you?
Alexis Logan: I’m ashamed to have to mention it. No, let this just be a random good deed for me. You don’t want to be involved in my problems.
Tabitha frowns, helping Randy back to his feet.
Tabitha Osborne: You helped save Randy’s life! I owe you a life for the life saved.
Alexis Logan: Very well. I’m sure you heard about the violence that took place in the airport a few days ago?
Randy Angel: Heard it? We were very nearly involved in it with the fact that we were considering lunch there.
Alexis Logan: Then you know that I had a security crew going through there to do a sweep of the place. Normal security protocol. Esmeralda and her troops attacked us. We had to return fire. Most unfortunate thing. However, the last survivor of my crew was executed in the hospital bed by Esmeralda von Krauss herself. I can’t let this go unavenged. You know?
At the mention of a von Krauss, Tabitha’s hands curl up into fists. She has had many dealings with them, even to the point of having been a captive of Armand von Krauss and forced to fight to the death in his Krimson Kharnival. She lost good friends and relatives to the monsters.
Tabitha Osborne: What is this that you ask of me? You want me to kill Esmeralda von Krauss?
Randy Angel: Zolothach, no! You mustn’t kill!
Alexis smiles coldly and clenches her fist, blood begins to trickle out of Randy’s ears and he falls to the ground without a sense of balance.
Randy Angel: I CAN’T HEAR!
Alexis Logan: Aww and you spilled your potion too. I’ll just get some more.
Alexis goes to leave, but Tabitha grabs her by the arm. Clearly, she has not seen that Alexis is the one to have caused such misery to Randy.
Tabitha Osborne: Wait, Randy…Randy doesn’t need to hear what’s about to be said anyway.
Alexis Logan: Yes, indeed. Kill Esmeralda for me and her organization will flounder. You might need to murder a few of her followers as well in order to get to her, but you have grown into such power. You might be the only one to be able to do it.
Tabitha Osborne: I’ll do it. Can you get Randy that potion?
Alexis Logan: Of course.
Alexis picks up the fallen cup and walks around the corner to a building. A portion of her hair turns into a wet, wriggling red worm that vomits into the cup. She adds a little vodka to it and grins as the worm shifts back into blonde hair. She heads back and hands the cup to Randy, who gratefully drinks the potion down. He sighs with relief as he can hear once again.
Randy Angel: Thank you! Now, Zolo. You didn’t agree to kill anyone. Please?
Tabitha just smiles and clutches at Randy’s hand to give it an encouraging squeeze.
Tabitha Osborne: I agreed to send a message.
Randy Angel: Oh good. Then, can I come with?
Tabitha Osborne: Not this time. I was planning on getting something for you on the way home as a surprise! It wouldn’t be a surprise if you were with me when I bought it.
Now Randy grins, blushing furiously.
Randy Angel: Alright.
Tabitha looks at Alexis and holds out her phone. Alexis holds out her phone and the two phones exchange contact info.
Tabitha Osborne: I trust you will tell me where to find her?
Alexis Logan: Of course.
Alexis walks away while Tabitha tidies Randy’s outfit up a bit.
Tabitha Osborne: You wanna ditch the rest of this parade, get cleaned up, and hit the liquor store for something nice?
Randy Angel: You gonna drink with me?
Tabitha just smiles.
Tabitha Osborne: You drink for me. I’ll have some soda.
Randy Angel: I can drink for two. Let’s do it!
