Why is Karpington so low? Didn’t he evolve into a monster? And why is Charbie low too?

Why is Karpington so low? Didn’t he evolve into a monster? And why is Charbie low too? Just haven’t used them much because my top 3 have been so useful. When I went home and walked all the way back I only used those two

After two Rocket battles in one run this one was surprisingly rocketless. I took the trip down the water path with all the docks on it. There were plenty of trainers with water type pokemon that I could zap with my Pikachu and level Pika up a bit. The road to my next town and the safari zone was paved with a lot of bird trainers which also allowed me to zap fools.
The second half of this route was good for something else, though. Grass types in the grass and with the trainers made it to where I could finally put my Charbie to some use. So I spent that half roasting plants like a stoner until I reached my next destination, Fuchsia City.
Fuchsia has more to do than just battling a gym which is nice. It’s main attraction is the Safaria Zone. I spent some time talking to everyone outside before I head in and got going. I remember from the past the two key items are the warden's teeth and surf, but I honestly couldn’t remember where they were. That’s why I was shocked when I found both on my first try. That was cool. What wasn’t cool was the fact that I didn’t catch a single pokemon. 🤦♂️
I had what I needed and I was a little frustrated by not catching anything so I headed to the warden’s house instead of trying again. I gave him his teeth and got strength for being such a Good Samaritan.
Still I was not ready for the gym. I went north and decided to knock out the trainers up there before working the cycling road. It was a good test for the poison gym because most of the trainers rocked poison types. I drove up one path beating everyone on the way. Then I beat everyone lined up at the top. On the way down I caught everyone on the other path just to make sure I maximized my training.
With that done I was ready to take on Koga and his minions. Here’s the problem, for being a poison type gym there was a serious lack of true poison types. In fact, this might as well have been psychic gym number two. Even though this was some bullshit Diggle dig his way through them all and to victory. With my sixth gym badge and all the HMs I need up next is a retrace of all my steps before I head off to the islands.

Whew fun update. I flew back to Pallet town to train up a couple of my lower mons and check out the spots I couldn’t get to because I didn’t have surf or one of the other HMs. I traveled all through the world of Kanto and surfed in new areas, but the only real place of note was the old power plant.
At the Power Plant I got to challenge all sorts of electric types which was a breeze considering my mostly ground team core. I ran through and found a ton of items as well as running into a few Voltorb and Electrode disguised as items. Nothing of huge note happened except for the catching of this pokemon known as Zapdos. Just a little bird electric type. Nothing special.
From there I went back down and didn’t run into much of importance. I went through the waters along the long floating docks and grabbed an item or two I couldn’t reach before. Again nothing really of note so I took another stab at the Safari Zone and much to the delight of Mongo I caught pokemon this time. 6 to be exact which was perfectly enough so I could nab the exp all. I was pretty excited for this item, but holy hell is it annoying and adds too much time to the battles so I pretty quickly put it away before the long journey to Cinnabar Island.
One of the TMs I grabbed somewhere was thunder and since I was about to embark on a water journey and so I through it on Karpington. This allowed me to rotate it and Pika to level up as I battled across the water and into the Seafoam Islands. Seafoam is a bit of a maze with fast currents. I found my way out, but first I tried to grab this ice bird Articuno. Yeah, you heard that right, tried. My team is either lower leveled or weak to ice so it smacked me up with repeated Ice beams. Luckily I saved so I could try and re-catch, but instead I decided to move on for now and shortly after arrived at Cinnabar.
Cinnabar is an interesting spot. It has a scientific spot where they can resurrect fossils so I dropped off my helix fossil and headed over to the burned down mansion. I was excited for this spot because it’s supposed to be filled with fire Tuesday. Perfect place to train up Karpington for the battle with Blaine and his crew. For some reason, though, on my first run through I ran into one growlithe and two fire trainers and that was pretty much it. I did train up my Karpington enough to beat Blaine, though, and after I got the secret key I did just that wiping him and all the trainers out with a barrage of surfs.
That’s where I break for now before we surf back up to pallet town and to face the final gym.

QUICK UPDATE!
I have already made it to the final gym and whooped Giovanni for the third time.
I took off from Cinnabar and started off with my Karpington dropping thunder and bites on every trainer and tentacool that stood in my way until Thunder ran out of PP about half way through the route. Then trusty ole Pika zapped the rest of the way and got us back to pallet town. From there nothing was stopping me from landing my final badge.
There’s a lot of mystery surrounding the final gym. Even my helper dude doesn’t know what types the leader uses but says a lot of the trainers use ground. I decide to move Karpington back to the top to surf them away, but really only the first trainer was strictly ground types. After that it was a mix with a lot of fighting types mixed in, but Karpington is versatile and handled every trainer in the gym, and there were a lot. In the end the gym leader was, surprise surprise, Giovanni leader of now defunct team Rocket. I switched to Nidi for this and ran through him with blizzard which I added to my guys move set for just such an occasion.
Now I’m on my way to victory road and the elite four!

Here it is. The grand finale.
After beating Giovanni for the third time I took to victory road. It was a rough run. Most of my Pokemon are below the levels needed and so I was using this time to level up those guys so I’ve been starting with my Karpington and am rocking Exp All which is slowing the game down drastically. I made it all the way though with relative ease and picked up Moltres on the way. I did have a little hiccup where I forgot where I needed to move one of the boulders, but I got there eventually and I was at the Elite Four.
Now most of the elite four’s pokemons are all well above my pokemons levels except for Nidi, which made me apprehensive to run right through, but I’m super impatient. I made one more quick run through victory road and then started the elite four.
The first room was “ice” which isn’t really that true because they’re mostly water pokemon and my Pika ran through them with ease. Next up was Bruno and his fighting types. This was another easy one because Karpington took out the two Onix and Ott took out the true fighters. Up third was the hardest for me because I didn’t have a single Pokemon with any psychic moves. Agatha and her ghosts nearly wrecked me. Well he two Gengar to be specific because the rest went down pretty easily. Eventually I got past her and moved on to Lance and his dragons. This is what I was prepared for. Two Pokemon with electric moves and Nidi rocking blizzard. Lance was nothing, but what’s this? He’s not the champion anymore? One more battle with Mongo. Fuck that guy. I’ve been beating his ass since day one and this day was no different. Many of his Pokemon didn’t get shots in at all and I’m the Champion now.
The game restarts and I have a new place to go. I don’t pay attention to the cave name because all I need to know is MewTwo is there and once I land that beast I’m done. This cave is, you guessed it, a fucking maze. It took some time because these are the real tough Pocket Monsters. Luckily most of them are weak to moves that Karpington is rocking. I did have to make two trips, though, because the first time I got to MewTwo I realized I put my master ball in my computer to save space 🤦♂️ Second time through I get my MewTwo and the game is over.
Final team: Karpington - Level 48 Pika - Level 50 Ott - Level 46 Nidi - Level 62 Charbie - Level 41 Diggle - Level 46
