Fade in, Rob Arnold and Trixie are stood at a non-descript road in the Nevada desert, specifically, they’re at a junction with road signs offering a choice of direction.
“Ahhh, another turning point, the fork stuck in the road. That’s how the song went, right?” Rob smirks.
“You’re so old.” Trixie sighs.
“Yeah, I’m not proud of that one either…sorry. But we’re here for a reason, Trixie.”
“Loads of clichés?”
“No…well, maybe a little bit.” He rolls his eyes. “It’s to give your opponent a little education and this overly done metaphor will hopefully drive the point home.”
“Sure, sure. But it’s hot as hell boss, so shall we hurry it up a little bit?” She wipes her brow.
“You make a fair point.” He turns back to the camera. “A real important thing in life is associating yourself with the right people. This is especially important in this business. Choose wisely and doors can open for you, choose wisely and you learn your craft better, you ultimately get better. Choose poorly and you struggle to rise above the others, choose poorly and you are putting your career at risk, possibly before it even gets going. And that’s what this match will be a story of.”
Arnold acknowledges Mars with a gestured hand.
“Trixie Mars, the woman who has the heart and desire of five champions. A woman who was willing to take the help of a former two time X*Crown Champion, a former XHF World Champion, AXW Hall of Famer and all round success throughout his career. She’s chosen to associate with winners, she’s chosen to learn from others who thrive off competition and the desire to improve. In two matches here in UP Wrestling, I’ve had more calls about Trixie than I’ve had about Leon Chant and Riley Richards…People recognise what she’s doing, and what she’s going to do.”
He lowers his hand.
“Meanwhile, Isabella Von Krauss just wants to be a Von Krauss, despite the fact that both are massive choke artists in the XHF Network. Armand has never really pushed to great heights, and I see Esmerelda couldn’t get the job done at Supremacy…all a familiar story. But Isabella still wants to be a Von Krauss, got herself some jesters to be like her not-mum and not-dad.” Rob sighs. “Look, I’ll be honest, I just straight up don’t get it. Do you get it, Trix?”
“Not in the slightest.”
“Exactly. Isabella, life is all about choices, and you probably think you’re making the right ones, you have the money and the means, but let’s be honest it hasn’t got you much so far, has it? And that’s why we’re out here.” He points to the sign behind him. “One route takes you back to the city, the other looks pretty similar, but takes you to the ass end of nowhere in the desert. And that’s pretty similar to you Isabella, you’re on the wrong road, you’ve made poor choice after poor choice, and you’re only going to realise it when you’re all alone, in the middle of nowhere with no damn clue on how to get back. The worst bit? It’s coming sooner rather than later, when Trixie’s done with you, when the Mars landing hits, once you finally come to after losing, that ring will be so lonely, and maybe then you’re going to start to realise that hey, maybe you should have taken the other turning.”
“But it’s too late now, Isabella, you’re way too far down that road now, and come Free for All, I’m going to make such a mess out of you.” Trixie winks for the camera, before turning back to her manager. “Seriously boss can we get the hell out of here, I’m from Seattle, we don’t do dry desert.”
“Yeah I’m regretting this too, let’s go.” Arnold sighs, wiping his brow and flicking the sweat off. “A Brit and a girl from Seattle in the desert…not my best idea.”
“No, it was not.” Trixie grumbles, and we fade out.
