Buenos Aries! It was great to be out on the road again, Laz’ seemingly had in his mind to ‘Conquer’ South America with two countries in as many shows with no signs of slowing. Glancing around the hotel room, even though there was an awkward silence, spirits were high. Pequeno Dinosaurio was laid out on one of the beige clad beds, he’d changed from his green suit into a more casual jeans and a basic black CWF shirt, his mask was undone while flipping through his phone. Vanessa did the same from the grey pull out couch Dinosaurio would occupy once they went to sleep. They’d won their debut and had competed in the first match in company history. No matter what happened from here, no one could take that away from them. Breaking the silence, Union Jack tugs at his blue bear mask, “Look, I said I was sorry lass, I didn’t know it was you! Besides, I meant it as a compliment!” Vanessa continued to stare at her phone, even in her plain t-shirt and worn jeans that she liked to travel in, she was beautiful. “You said ‘ten points for being in the right position’. I was bent over tying my shoe!” She barely looked up from her phone. “I swear I didn’t know it was you! You normally wear a suit so when I saw…look, nevermind what I saw…” he waited for the room to quiet again. “So, Nessa?” This time, he didn’t wait for a reply. “When are you gonna give up this game and admit you have blue balls for the blue bear?” Now he had her attention, sitting up she was clearly annoyed. “Jack, if that’s your attempt at asking me out, again. Then, I need you to know that…one, I don’t date clients. Two, ewww. Three, there is nothing on me blue or any other colour, for you.” Undaunted, he smiles before responding, “Geez, a simple, ‘try again next city’ would have been enough love.” “You’re impossible!” They were standing face to face now, her Latina temper beginning to get the best of her. “That’s right get angry at daddy!” He barely finished his latest comment before she practically growled at him. “Argh!” The slap echoed throughout the room, Jack was more stunned than hurt. “You tease!” He said slyly, forcing a wide smile to hide his hurt feelings. Glancing over to Dinosaurio, he adds. “I think I need a drink, I’ll catch you later mate.” Within seconds, the Lucha bear was out the door and off to lick his wounds leaving the young dinosaur to clean up his mess. “Argh! He crosses the line and I feel like the bad guy! How do you put up with him!!” She exclaimed before throwing herself back onto the couch. Letting her get it out, he put his phone down beside him, sitting up. “I get Jack can be a handful, but he has his own things to deal with, just like you or me.” His voice was soft, understanding. Glancing at him sideways, she thought about keeping her comment to herself but anger got the best of her. “There you go making excuses for him! He’s such an ass! I don’t know why I let you talk me into taking him on as a client!” Nodding, it was important to him that she understand that he wasn’t taking sides, he just understood his friend on a level that most never bothered to reach due to Jack’s various ‘charms’ “First, you need to understand that, no matter what he says, or how well he ended up doing there…Jack didn’t choose to go to Mexico. His family sent him there hoping he’d either learn to control himself, or that he’d quit.” She raised an eyebrow, obviously this was news to her, but something needed to be asked. “If his own family can’t handle him, how do you?” He smiled, Jack had his flaws but Dinosaurio had seen something in Jack that he kept hidden from the world. “It’s simple, he’s a good man Vanessa. Don’t laugh, I mean it.” Letting her swallow her chuckle, he continued, “Let me explain. It was a few years ago, I was maybe sixteen at the time and we were in Tijuana…it was after a show and I was walking to the hotel only a few blocks away from the old arena.” Getting nostalgic, Pequeno Dinosaurio looks out the window, his voice getting low. “Anyway, these Cabrons started hassling me for money saying they knew who my father was and people would probably pay a pretty penny for me.” Turning his attention back to Vanessa, she was leaning in. Clearly interested. “Things got ugly and I ended up having to fight them off, and did alright at first, but then the numbers game caught up to me…” Getting up from the bed, he paces the room, grabs a bottle of water from the mini fridge and takes a seat on the bed across from her. “Just when it looked like I was in real trouble, a scream came from the other end of the alley and there he was.” Obviously in disbelief, she questions. “A scream scared them off?” It was clear she didn’t believe Jack was capable of a selfless act. “No, not exactly…” He says chuckling. “…he was completely naked except for his mask as he ran at them like a crazy man and he was yelling pick up lines in Spanish…which, at the time, was all he knew…” Laughing a little harder, Dinosaurio finishes his dive into the past. “I think he said something about them, a jar of honey, and a live goat…but anyway, after that…I started helping him with the Lucha Libre style and we’ve been friends ever since. Father hates him, but he’s a good man under all those comments Vanessa, I swear it.” “I’m glad he’s a good friend to you. I’ll apologize…” Her hand found it’s way to his, giving it a squeeze before pulling away. “…but he’s still an ass. Let’s go get lunch.” She finished with a laugh. Nodding, he texted Jack to make sure he was ok and invited him to join. “Three’s a crowd.” With a smiley face emoji was all he got back. The end. |
