Esmeralda von Krauss lands on top of an apartment building and tucks into a roll back to her feet so she can continue running and jumping from building to building as she works to get away from the undead creature known as an ecorchie. She almost feels the thuds as the giant undead creature lands not far behind her.
She comes to a building where she sees that she can continue to hop buildings in a circle and hope to confuse the creature, or she can cut a bunch of wires and try to swing to another block of buildings without getting electrocuted.
Esmeralda von Krauss: What would Armand have done?
She gives a smirk, a moment of true mirth in a long time.
Esmeralda von Krauss: He would have shot it in the face until it fell over and then beheaded it. Well, this monster can’t possibly follow me across the street.
She cuts a mess of wires, leaving them sparking from where they were connected to the wall as opposed to where they were. She breathes in deep as she feels the monster reaching for her and swings away just as the remaining creature grabs the space she was in.
She comes within a foot of being dragged on the ground before the slack is taken up and she swings to the top of another building. She turns around to see that the creature has followed her and is swinging to the top of the building.
Esmeralda positions herself and as the undead creature reaches the top of the building, she jumps high and hits him with a roundhouse kick that sends it off of the roof!
The creature falls five stories and splatters blood everywhere upon hitting the pavement. Esmeralda watches as the creature lays there, satisfied that it has been killed. She starts to turn around to find the roof access door when she sees movement out of the corner of her eye. The creature stands up. Esmeralda watches with some concern as the creature looks up.
It can’t reach her for the moment.
The thought no sooner leaves her head when the creature leaps up into the air.
Straight up five stories.
It slashes Esmeralda with one claw, catching her in the left thigh and clawing across her midsection to across her right breast. The move rips open the dress and flesh, knocking Esmeralda backwards to the roof floor. The creature lands on its feet next to Esmeralda, looking down at her as the dreadful wounds that pour nearly black blood start to close.
The creature lifts a massive foot up and brings it down to crush Esmeralda’s skull, but she rolls away to her feet. She draws her ornate silver dagger, the symbol of her membership to Justice, and leaps into the air. She slams the dagger to the hilt into the creature’s forehead and bounces off of its chest back to her feet. She watches with some curiosity as the eyes of the creature roll up into the back of its head and it falls onto its back.
Esmeralda von Krauss: Vulnerable to silver. I should have known.
She looks down at herself to see her wounds closing up, but the dress does not repair itself. It hangs in shreds to fully expose her. She tries to hold her dress together, but fails miserably. She sighs and picks up her phone, seeing that it has a cracked screen. She sighs and makes a phone call.
Esmeralda von Krauss: I need a pick up and clothing. Sending coordinates.
Several hours later, Esmeralda is back at the hotel that she had rented all of for her and her entourage. She relaxes back in an easy chair with her foot long cigarette holder in her hand as she smokes an Egyptian cigarette.
Esmeralda von Krauss: What can I say that hasn’t already been said? Donzig will learn his place. Aiden Merric will not get his prize. Steve Awesome…will be absolutely crushed.
This is when Esmeralda’s cracked phone begins to ring to let her know that someone wants to do a FaceTime. She frowns and answers the phone, only to see Isabella von Krauss on the screen.
Esmeralda von Krauss: What is the meaning of this, Isabella?
Isabella smiles. If we didn’t already know that she was not really a Von Krauss, we would say that she looked almost exactly like Esmeralda.
Esmeralda von Krauss: What do you want, dahling?
Isabella von Krauss: Honestly, I was hoping that you wouldn’t answer the phone because of being dead.
Esmeralda narrows her eyes. Her voice gains a deadly edge.
Esmeralda von Krauss: You sent the creature to kill me.
Isabella von Krauss: And I organized a force to destroy your Bankhead assets and kill both Minerva and D! All thanks to help from Alexis Logan of the Red Thirst. Everything you have will be mine to destroy.
Esmeralda von Krauss: I will kill you with my own hands if harm should come to my people.
Isabella von Krauss: You can try. See you at the funeral for your friends.
The phone goes dead and Esmeralda growls.
Esmeralda calls D, but no one answers since he’s on the plane.
Esmeralda von Krauss: Help D and Minerva. They are walking into a trap.
Out from the shadows steps Sticky the Clown. He’s a nearly nine foot tall monstrosity with peeling face paint, needle sharp teeth, and black gums that ooze a black blood like substance when he smiles and the teeth pierce into the gums.
Sticky the Clown: It will be my honor.
He steps back into the shadows and is gone. Esmeralda takes another drag from her cigarette and blows the smoke into the air.
Esmeralda von Krauss: Some Hündinnen are going to have to die…
