(”The Offspring – Come Out and Play” hits the arena PA system and the screens light up with a technicolor vibrant montage video playing on the screens of him weight training and hitting his favorite moves on people, flashing up to the beat of the music.
Eddie walks slowly to the ring. He high fives the occasional outstretched hand, puts on a false smile as though he enjoys the applause, but he’s really 100% focused on he has to say and his mind is already in the ring. The scale of the O2 arena makes his entrance quite the trek to the ring and he has time to take in the spectacle and soak up the applause and warmth from the new crowd. Eddie walks up the ring steps, takes a moment to scan the crowd and holds open his arms in honest gratitude of their cheers. The crowd pop. Eddie nods his respect and appreciation. Then he steps through the ropes, all business and gets handed a mic.)
EDDIE: Well hello wrestling fans… This venue huh? O2 Arena Greenwich England? Wrestle: UK should be proud that this is the way we're kicking things off, 'cause I have played in some toilets in my time I don't mind telling you. SWAT had some great events in great arenas, but getting a good crowd in here? That's a statement of intent I can get behind....
Down to business though... Let me tackle the elephant in the room head on… No more SWAT. No more CWA. But thankfully… No more waiting and wondering. The new place to fight is set in stone and here we all are. I’m not here to shed tears for what has gone. I respect the traditions and the history, but I would dishonor it all if I just walked away or become some kinda Brexit remoaner caught uo in what might have been and nestled in the past. They could destroy the archives and burn down the HQ, but they can’t take the memories we shared, and I will embody and carry some of that spirit through with me into Wrestle: UK. Just try and stop me.
That’s the elephant in the room addressed… Now let’s address the viper in our midst… Mr Blood… I don’t know what your motives were at No Surrender… but changing a match stipulation when Blaze almost had the win in the bag for Team SWAT… That’s not the actions of the money man you claim to be. A businessman sets things in motion and leaves the talent to do their thing and makes money off their skills. What you did was bring ego and power trip games into a main event where that isn’t needed or welcome. No one there was telling you that they were more important than you, even though we clearly are. No one there had challenged your authority, but you still felt the need to mess with what would have been a fair and entertaining bout and unleash Goth on us out of left field. You might have found us a new home and you might be the man that pays the wages and keeps the lights burning, but we’re the professionals. You look to the experts on your acquired staff to direct you on the booking and we’ll supply the drama and the sporting excellence. Don’t you worry your pretty little head about running a Fed boss. We’ve been making money just fine before you pitched up and when you’ve shuffled off to find greener pastures to invest in, and probably build a parking lot on it, we’ll still be around and making a fucking mint.
I love a UK crowd. And over the years they’ve loved me back and long may that continue. For those of you who are uninitiated to this corner of the industry, or just fair-weather fans with short memories, I am The Good Guy Eddie D and I have been around the block. I was a two-time SWAT World Champion and a whole “legacy” of my own in the EIWF, IWA and beyond. The last time I was on the XHF Network I was busy scaring the living crap out of X-Crown contenders. Their hearts were racing, and they saw their title chance slipping away from them via my brutality, my strength and my ring-craft. But something would always go wrong… time and again. Perhaps I just wasn’t quite good enough. Perhaps fortune chose not to smile on me because of the way I treated the fans back then. Since that time, I have gotten better. A fuck-ton better and I fear no one. Fortune smiles on me now. The crowd mean more to me now than they ever before so… Maybe it was fated that I came back to an XHF fed here and now. Or… Maybe that’s romantic horseshit and life just washed us up here. We’ll see what this “New Dawn” kicks up won’t we.
All I do know is that some parts of the past I healthily cast off and others don’t seem right to let fall to the floor just yet.
Is it fair to say that the UK is a historical hot bed of true wrestling talent, right?
(Eddie holds up the mic. and cups an ear, encouraging an answer. The crowd chant “Right!”)
Kendo Nagasaki, Mick McManus, Giant Haystacks, Big Daddy? Amazing right?
(The crowd chant “Right!”)
William Regal, Randy Orton, Paige, British Bulldog? BLAZE!? The best right?
(The crowd chant “Right!”)
Is it fair to say that the best man or woman in the Fed should hold the World Title gold? Only the best right?
(The crowd chant “Right!”)
Then my match tonight will fulfil two great functions folks.
One… To allow me the ring-time and opportunity to beat seven colors of shit out of Donzig and Two… To honor the SWAT tradition of the Royal Rumble winner to face the World Champion. Now I might not be carrying a belt anymore, but I am the best. And by your answers tonight the gold should always be bestowed upon the best talent you have. So Donzig can consider this his title shot against the best the roster has to offer, and we’ll worry about belts and titles when they finally fall in the laps of the wrestlers that deserve them.
Tonight, we christen a federation with what would have been a match to end the biggest feud, saved for the biggest PPV of the year. This could be the sort of match that a new Fed needs to get the ball rolling, or it could be a good way to kill the goose that laid the golden egg. To be fair, it looks like the former is true, because the buy-rates have been amazing.
I have been called The Big Deal, I have been called Main Event Eddie, but I have also been called a stable stooge enforcer and a bully too. Well tonight I get to bury my past and start afresh. There’s a fist full of fans who don’t know who the KGB are. There is a pocket of you that never heard the bad things said about Eddie D, so I don’t need to drag up that side of my past… but much better to put it all to bed with a bloody mess of anarchy-based wrestling carnage. Something new for you to know me for. A new yard stick of violence that you’ll tell your grand kids about.
You don’t need to know why, but I do Donzig the honor of making him the target of my chaotic vengeful hatred for tonight… You’re very welcome.
You don’t need to know why he might hate me. Just live safe in the knowledge that this hateful bonanza of a bout tonight is reciprocal, consensual, and biblical in its spite and venom.
Wrestle: UK?!
DONZIG?!!
MR BLOOD?!!!
BRING… IT… ON!!!!
(”The Offspring – Come Out and Play” hits the arena PA system and Eddie drops the mic. in the middle of the ring. Eddie goes to the second rope in the corner and throws out his arms to the fans and gets a huge reaction. As Eddie leaves the ring the scene fades to black.)
