Fingers tapped against the old wood of the table, and candles danced in the background before the camera drew back to reveal Donzig. He sat in an ornate room, and huge windows showed the night sky of Britain. He shifted in his chair, and then he leaned forward with a hiss. Head tilting beneath his mask, and he rasped.
'Eddie D. I know you're looking for me, Eddie. Waiting for me, hunting me down, because you and I know that we have been on this course for a long time.' Donzig sounded amused, and he lifted his masked head to stare as the candlelight gleamed across the face of his mask. He shrugged his shoulders, and leaned forward as he let his hand fall to the table once more before he contined. 'Since the first day I came to this place? I knew you and I would meet Eddie, that that conflict would happen in SWAT or beyond. And now the hour is at hand.'
Donzig lifted his hand, fingers absently drifting through the flames.
'You were a monster the first time we laid our eyes on you. A beast, a predator, the most feared man in a company of feared men. You were going after Goth with all guns blazing! And then? Well, something changed didn't it? You changed. You let these people get in your head didn't you? You became soft, you became weak, you became a liability! To what? To curry favor with the rabble? To fucking simp for Blaze? No, no, no, Eddie D! That is unacceptable, that is weakness!'
A hiss, and Donzig rose to slowly pace along the length of that gleaming dark wood table with it's fine carving. Paintings of old nobles and aristocrats looked down on him, disapproving and stern in the flickering shadows as he lifted a hand as he continued to speak. His voice a snarl from behind his mask.
'And you say the KGB threw you out, that I threw you out? But what did you expect Eddie, what did you fucking expect! It's kill or be killed, Eddie! And the world is no place for you to be soft, to play the good guy for these fucking rabble! No room for you to cater to them! And since that day you have been on a downward spiral, Eddie! But I haven't forgotten you.'
A hand dropped to the table.
'You failed me, you failed the KGB, you failed Soutter. And--' Donzig's hand rose, and fell again as he shook his head almost sadly. '--you failed SWAT! But Eddie? You don't need to worry because the smartest thing that Blood has done is make sure I get my hands on the last SWAT Heavyweight Champion! Because Eddie I am going to drag you into that ring, and I am going to show you that listening to these people? Listening to these fucking fans? That is just going to lead you down the path of weakness, the path of foolishness, the path of destruction! I am going to make you watch as I batter you down in front of them!'
Donzig started to pace again, his hands clenching into fists before him.
'And Eddie I want you to watch as their belief in you dies, I want you to watch them turn their backs on you, I want you to see them give up on you! Because they won't be in that ring with you! It will be just you and me! And I am going to hurt you, Eddie! You see? You and I? We're the only ones left of the world that was, of the KGB that was, and I am going to make you pay for what you have done! You see it was your weakness, your failure that sent cracks through the foundation of the KGB! If it were not for you? The rest would have stayed loyal!'
Donzig stared out the window, and he said nothing for a long moment.
'I would not have had to put down the Founder. This is all your fault, Eddie! And yet? And yet? AND YET!'
Donzig spun around, and he snarled as he stalked forward.
'They cheer you! They love you! They believe in you! And they revile me, they condemn me, they spit their poison at me? Well, no, Eddie! No, no, no! I won't fucking have it! I will show them that they were wrong, I will show you that you were wrong! And we enter that ring at the O2? I am going to show you how wrong you are! I am going to take it all away from you, Eddie! I am going to break you, I am going to break your heart, and I am going to break their hearts to watch it! And then? I am going to go on and claim what is mine by right! What should have been mine all along!'
Donzig paused, his voice having risen to a shriek. He lifted a hand, extending a finger to press against the mouth of his mask as he tilted his head. He took a deep breath, shoulders shuddering before he slowly sat back down in the antuique chair with a shrug.
'The WUK Heavyweight Championship!'
He tilted his head.
'So please, Eddie, please. Find me, hunt me down, do your fucking worst! Because your best? The best you? The guy out there hugging babies? The guy pandering to these fans? That guy? He's a dead man.'
Donzig's hand lifted, and he presseed it across the face of his mask before he slowly yanked it free. He stared at it, then laid it aside before he raked his fingers through his beard. And he shrugged, eyes narrowing as he smiled slightly.
'See you soon.'
The candles went out.
