“Because I don’t know how many people can get behind a person who doesn’t care...”
Johnny Five is sitting in a steel folding chair in what would seem to be an unfurnished apartment, surrounded by packed boxes of various sizes. He lets the quote from Aren Mstislav's promo hang in the air as he looks at what could reasonably be assumed to be his boxed up belongings. He then gives the camera a quizzical look.
Dude, I've put my whole life in boxes and am about to move halfway around the world to join Infinite Pro Wrestling. I'm going to live in a country I've never even been to, on my own...
Hey!
Johnny rolls his eyes at the off camera interruption.
Okay, my sister's coming too.
Sup?
And my friend/personal interviewer.
Happy Birthday Paulie.
For the last time Sico, you can't come and live with me in the UK!!! You know if Priti Patel catches you she'll melt you down to make a robot shark to attack migrants crossing the English Channel!!!
Anyway, what I'm trying to explain here is that what I'm doing isn't exactly the mark of someone who doesn't care. I mean, if I didn't care then I wouldn't have signed the contract I was offered when FIRESIDE announced it was closing. I'd have just done what all other unemployed wrestlers do and started Twitch streaming and set up an OnlyFans. Easier, and way less moving fees. But I do care. I care about making my own mark in the XHF rather than simply being remembered as a sidekick. I care about showing that I've got the talent to hang with the very best. I care about giving the fans all kinds of holy shit moments that they'll never forget. I care about wrestling.
Question is, do you care? 'Cause I gotta say Aren, from how you were talking to me you really only seem to give a damn about you. You go on about how you wanted to look cool and how you get bored if you think your opponent isn't up to your level. Well buddy, there's no U in Infinite Pro Wrestling! There are four I's though, so I am going to go out to that ring, and I am going to give you everything I've got, and I will 'cater' to your 'high standards' with a smorgasbord so overwhelming you'll bust a gut.
He pauses and rubs his stomach.
Fuck, gone and made myself hungry. Better wrap this up quick so we can break from lunch...
Aren, you're right to reckon what you say won't resonate with me. Not because I don't care, but because I care enough to not let some pompous windbag who goes on about how great he is intimidate me. Win, lose, or draw, I'll keep caring about wrestling, and I'll keep caring about entertaining the fans, and I'll keep caring about being the best performer I can be. The only thing I won't care about is what you think of me.
He nods, holding position for a few moments to set a good final image... before looking off to his right.
Hey, who's hungry? I'm thinking burritos...
Fade to guac and cheese being extra.
