"You know, Anthony... this didn't have to happen. FIRESIDE has done well for itself since you opened it--there's never been any dispute about that. However, the moment you capitulated to your narcissism, proving you were too weak to change and made it all about you? It all fell apart."
Natalie Burrows' voice is firm in its reproach as the visual fades in on her leaning against a wall that is far too brightly colored to be in her house. One look at the YouTube gold button near her left shoulder and it quickly becomes obvious why--she's in Vodka Fizz's compound, though exactly where is a mystery. Dressed simply in a pair of denim cut-offs and a brightly-colored floral button-down that she's tied above her navel, Natalie's blond curls have been allowed to do as they will as she shakes her head, her expression not at all amused. How can she be? She knows, full well, that she's in for... well, nothing good.
(Or sensible, for that matter.)
"Now I know you're not in this match--probably because after the beating you took both in the Penalty Box match, you knew you'd be eaten alive by the vast majority of the roster. No matter how unjustifiably egotistical you are... there's only so much one mediocre man can do against thirteen people--at a bare minimum!--that all have a legitimate reason to want to make what Adrien did to you at the Rumble look like a walk in the park. Is that why you put together this match that makes little to no sense, Anthony? To keep those who have justifiable reason to kick your sorry ass occupied so you could take the XHF Junior Heavyweight Championship opportunity--an opportunity you do not remotely deserve--for yourself? Bless, am I ever looking forward to watching Mister Angel beat you from pillar to post."
The Southern Belle nods to affirm that point, confident such is what will happen.
"But I know that, as much as I will enjoy Anthony Caffrey being thrashed yet again, I need to focus on this... clustermess. Not for a man that I look forward to never having to deal with again, but a man that I love. Why Vi--er, Voddy--"
"You can just use my name, Nat. It's not a big deal."
The reigning FIRESIDE World Champion sounds amused from wherever he is off-camera. Natalie glances sidelong, a faint blush coloring her cheeks as she smiles faintly and nods before she continues.
"Why Virgil is being forced to rely on the efforts of twelve other people to defend his championship instead of him facing former President Kanyon one-on-one... I'm sorry, but it makes no sense to me. There is absolutely no reason for any of his partners beyond me to give a single, solitary damn about his title reign, and the only reason I care is because of how we're a couple. Saving FIRESIDE isn't remotely a thing I care about. Why should I when Anthony's made it clear that he doesn't care about his roster beyond as... as supports for his overblown ego?"
The silence that stretches after that question answers that question all too well.
"At this point, the only thing I care about is doing my part to ensure that Virgil is the last FIRESIDE World Champion. He earned it--and if anyone knows that for certain, it's the woman he literally had to knock out cold to win it. I don't have any hard feelings about it, either. When I won the title, I made it clear that whoever won it would have to fight their hardest and he did just that. And while I would have liked the opportunity to win it back, well... that's not in the cards."
A pause; Natalie's eyes narrow as she subtly leans forward, glaring into the camera's lens.
"And neither is Virgil losing the World Championship due to some... some bullshit stipulation. I don't care what former President Kanyon or any of his teammates do, or if our own teammates don't see fit to pull their share of the load--as a matter of fact, I won't blame them if they don't. I can only control my own actions in this final FIRESIDE match, and rest assured that the same grit and determination that saw me overcome MAJESTY will be brought to bear to protect the reign of the man I love. In spite of Anthony's best efforts to prevent it, come to think of it... this match is personal to me, intensely so. It just isn't personal for the reasons that management wants it to be because while Virgil makes me feel like I belong with him... FIRESIDE never did. But you know what? That's alright, because after I do my part to ensure that Virgil walks out of Blaze of Glory as the final World Champion, I... no."
The Southern Belle's smile returns--no, it's more of a grin.
"We will be going home to where it all began for both of us, albeit in different ways."
"Wait. Do you mean--"
Raising a hand to face her lover palm-first, the Southern Belle chuckles softly. If she doesn't stop Voddy here, after all, then Lord only knows what'll happen next.
"Only if you want to, sugah. We'll talk about it later. For now, though..."
Natalie's gaze returns to the camera's lens.
"For now, we prepare to defy the odds for the last time under FIRESIDE's banner."
Fade.
