You know, Sexton, I think I finally understand you. Your true motives and intentions…
Felix is standing in his meditation room, his head lowered, as Maxwell sits behind him with his eye bandaged.
You can thank Maxwell for this understanding... After Open Fight Night, when we beat each other bloody till time was up... And after Maxwell was confirmed to be on the mend, he told me about a jock from high school that acted a lot like you. I’d gotten all the anger and fury out of my system in that fight, so I could accept what he told me. And Sexton?
Felix smiles, an understanding and supportive look in his eyes as he looks up.
It’s 2022. It’s safe to come out of the closet.
Felix holds his hands up in a "hold on" motion, smiling as he does.
Now, before your denial sets in and makes you yell at me, I’m not making fun of you. I’m being completely serious. The signs are all there... The beautiful girls you surround yourself with, who are likely paid off...
Felix blinks, then chuckles as he shakes his head.
I really shouldn’t accuse you of that if I’m trying to help you. Anyway, the insistence that you get all the sex and ladies and have the highest standards of girls you ‘grace’ with your attention. The misogyny even fits, honestly. Don’t even get me started on your habit of claiming that you are ‘The Last Alpha Male.’
Felix cringes just saying that, a look of both disgust at the term and concern for anyone who’d actually say it. After all, they would have to have the smallest self-esteem ever to even think of using it.
And I get it. Not everyone can be raised in a way that lets them accept themselves for who they are, like I did. I was really lucky in that regard. Let me guess, Sexton, you were told over and over that liking guys was bad, made you weak, or some other shame. I’m here to tell you all that isn’t true. It’s okay to like guys, and you can admit that to yourself if no one else. You're no less of a man for it.
Felix motions to Maxwell, who hands him a business card that Felix takes a moment to look over as he talks.
Maxwell and I are actually quite active in the LGBTQ+ community around here, and we even have some connections to some therapists and even some hangouts if you are curious and can manage to accept the help.
Felix shows the business card, and it’s for a local gay bar; it's just a little thing with the phone number and the name with a slogan.
Just let us take you here after our next match. I bet you’ll be happy with the attention you get. There are a ton of guys there that would love your look. Trust me, me and Maxwell have to actively avoid them at times or they’d be all over us too.
Felix laughs, shaking his head as he thinks of the last time he and Maxwell went to the establishment, the playful flirting. He hands the card back to Maxwell, who smiles as Felix turns back to the camera.
By the way, you should thank Maxwell for something else too. He calmed me down from how pissed I was before, and his healing really helped stabilize me, so I won't attempt to kill you again. You'd think I'd want to, even more so after that time-limit draw bullshit. I should have known that was coming, though, you’d done everything else. Honestly, I’m glad that he calmed me down so I could realize what was going on and then reach out to you and offer you some help accepting yourself. It’s not going to be easy, but if you take the first steps, we will help you. I think it would really be good not only for your self-image but also for your overall mental health.
Felix sighs, frowning for a moment as he crosses his arms. His eyes look distant for a moment, as if he is remembering a past loss.
After all, that jock Maxwell told me about? He didn’t make it. He couldn’t ever accept himself and ended it all because he couldn’t escape the despair. As much as you’ve pissed me off, Sexton, I don’t want that for you. So think about it, okay? We are here for you when you take those first few steps to accept yourself. It’s not going to be easy, but we’ll help you how we can. Just let me know that you want help. The community... hell, the world has lost too many because of shit like this, and as questionable as your behavior is sometimes... I don’t want that for you. Anyway, me and Maxwell have a date to go on or I’d spend a little more time here. Think about it, Sexton, seriously.
Felix turns to Maxwell and smiles again, shaking off the melancholy as he takes his hand and kisses him before they go to leave the room.
Oh shit, we forgot to turn the camera off!
Maxwell comes rushing back into the room and picks up the camera, then looks into it with a smile.
Just to let you know Sexton, he’s honestly really concerned about you. You’d think after all you did he’d have no forgiveness for you, but we’ve both lost people because of shit like this, and well, it’s just the kind of guy he is. One of the reasons I love the crazy bastard. If we’re right about you, he’s out to save you. Once he gets an idea like that in his head, he won’t quit. Just try and not make it too rough on yourself, okay?
Maxwell smiles as he hears Felix calling from the hallway, cutting the camera off with a smile and one last word.
Coming!
