"OK, editing is done and... upload."
Cheez slumps back into his chair having finished the final edits of the rant video he had made a day earlier.
"Now to play a game to relax my mind. Let's see what to play... I know I'll continue my Paper Mario: Sticker Star playthrough, honestly I never understood the hate this game gets. I mean sure it's not a traditional RPG like the first one or Thousand-Year Door, but it's still a good game. Actually, that gives me a video idea.."
Cheez goes back to his computer for a second and opens up a .txt file in WordPad, adding the words "Paper Mario Rant Video" to what appears to already be a long list of video ideas for NLW's resident YouTuber. After typing this, he saves the file and goes back to his game looking down at his 3DS, oblivious to Wellington Dunne entering the room, still hurt with his one arm in a sling. Dunne walks behind the distracted Cheez and with his good arm gives the Twitch streamer a good hardy smack between the shoulders.
"Congratulations! Buddy, you did it!!"
Cheez of course not expecting this, gets the wind knocked out of him causing him to drop his 3DS, and go into a coughing fit, as he tries to catch his breath.
"Shit! You OK?"
Cheez still coughing holds up a finger signaling to Dunne to give him a minute. As he gets his breath back he stands up and walks over to a mirror in his room to get a good look at his back where Dunne smacked him.
"That's gonna bruise."
A welt is beginning to form on Cheez's upper back.
"Sorry, about that. I was trying to congratulate you, and I guess I got a bit too excited."
"It's OK, but do me a favor, add that slap, chop thing to your move pool when you get cleared to compete again. Glad to see you're excited though."
Cheez looks at the floor.
"You're not excited?"
Dunne asks Cheez in confusion.
"Honestly, no. Happy, yes. Nervous, definitely, but excited that's a hard pass for me."
"But why? You won the Super Scramble and earned an XHF Junior Heavyweight Title shot. What's not to be excited about?"
Cheez sits back down in his chair.
"I see your point. I mean on paper I should be ecstatic beyond belief, through the roof, but I never planned on winning the Super Scramble, and yet somehow I did. I guess the shock of winning it hasn't really left me yet. Like I wasn't expecting B.B. Gunn's announcement when I won, so I'm still trying to process everything. Does that make any sense?"
Dunne sits down on the edge of Cheez's bed.
"I see your point, it's kind of what I felt when I won the GWA International Title, you don't expect it to happen, and when it does you don't really know how to react."
"Exactly, I mean I'm it's slowly kicking in what I did, but I still don't know if I believe it myself."
"Well, you are about to face possibly your toughest challenge, in your young career. Nelly Angel is pretty much on par with you, in terms of size, speed, and strength. He does have the experience advantage on you, but... And, know this gonna sound, pardon the pun, a bit cheesy to say. But, you have something Nelly will never have."
"What's that?"
Cheez asks rolling his eyes.
"Heart."
"Great I have the weakest of the Planeteer powers. Woo."
Cheez says nonchalantly while waving a finger in a circular motion.
"I'm being serious. I've seen that look on your face when you win, and I've seen you disappointed when you lose. You go out there every show and give 120% of yourself, and people are beginning to notice, and you got rewarded for your hard work so be happy about it."
Cheez smiles.
"I guess your right. I mean Nelly is not that much bigger than me, and I've faced people of similar stature to him, so I shouldn't really be that nervous. I mean it took Adam Sanders everything he had to beat me in the Penny Arcade Street Fight, so it's reasonable to think Nelly's gonna have to do the same thing this time."
"See, told you everything you work out for you."
"True, I mean Nelly only has one thing I wish I had."
"The Junior Heavyweight Title?"
Cheez chuckles.
"The title is a goal, not a want. I could lose the match, but it still wouldn't stop me from doing this.'
"Well, that's good to hear, hate to see walk away from progress over a loss. But if that's not what Nelly has that you want, what is?"
"A healthy relationship with my brother."
"You never mentioned having a brother?"
Dunne asked in confusion.
"Yeah, but we don't talk much, or at least we haven't talked much since my dad passed. It's funny considering I'm living his dream."
"What was that?"
"He wants to be a wrestler more than me. I mean at 6 feet 8 inches and 389 pounds, he would be a perfect candidate to have a career as a wrestler, and yet here I am, doing what he wanted to do his entire life."
Dunne looks shocked at the news Cheez has just revealed to him.
"Wait a damn minute. Your brother is how big?"
"Who? Dexter? 6'8" and 289 pounds, why?"
"You're gonna sit there and honestly tell me that you have a 6'8", 289 pound... Is he older or younger than you?"
"Older, 4 years."
"Older brother, that wanted to be a wrestler, and yet you went with me as your partner, what were you thinking?"
"I mean I would have loved to have made a team with Dex, but unfortunately he's autistic."
"What does that have to do with anything?"
"You ever heard of the term, and I know it's not politically correct to say, {Mongo Edit: Nah we don't say that anymore} strength."
"Yeah. Why?"
"He has that."
"I still don't see why that's a bad thing."
"No, Dunne what I mean is Dexter is strong, but he doesn't realize how strong he is, and that makes him too dangerous for anybody to be in the ring with. I mean if he wants to let's say, powerbomb someone through the ring. He'd more than likely do it."
Dunne nods his head, finally getting the picture.
"I see says the blind man, but I bet he's excited to see his little brother compete for a title."
"Don't know as I said, we have talked in like 6 years. So honestly it's a guess on whether he is or not. But I can assure you just like I told you it's going to take Nelly Angel giving me everything he as to keep me down, and I know it's gonna take everything I have to beat him, but I'm willing to do just that. Whether I win or lose. I'm doing like you said I do, I'm giving 120% in the match. I can only hope it's enough to win, but given I've already got Bugz? earlier in the night. I'm probably gonna have a tougher time than most of his challengers so far."
"Oh come on now, give Nelly some credit. His title reign hasn't all been easy wins."
Cheez looks at Dunne with concern.
"Seriously, the only challengers worth a damn he's faced are Spike Kane and current NLW champ Seth Dillinger."
"What no Caffrey?'
"Caffrey was good in his own right, but him that Triple Threat at the last the FIRESIDE show was nothing more than a last hoorah before the curtain finally closed on him, but here's where I differ from all them."
"How's that?"
"While I may work for a company called Next Level Wrestling, let's make one thing crystal clear. Nelly Angel is nowhere near my level. He doesn't have the equipment, magic, potions, mana, or Phoenix Downs to get past me."
Dunne looks confused.
"You know this is a wrestling match, not a boss fight in a Final Fantasy game, right?"
"It's a reference, What I'm saying is Nelly isn't going to beat me. Like I said I'm going to run through Bugz? and run Nelly over. I'm going to hit him with everything I have, and send him back to when he last saved his game."
"And long ago, was that?"
"When did he beat Charles for the title?"
"Back in February, I think, so about 4 months ago, again that's a guess I'm terrible at math."
"Math doesn't really matter, but this does I respect Nelly as a man, and competitor, but I'm not going to let him get the better of me. His brother may be in a team called Off the Wagon. Well, I'm taking this Cheez wagon and running Nelly over with it. Nelly, you may think this is all fun and games to me, but you don't have the cheats to win."
Cheez slumps back into his chair having finished the final edits of the rant video he had made a day earlier.
