I heard BB Gunn's words at the last Ascendancy.
His words reminded me of last year's G1, still fresh in my mind. In the third round, I lost to Felix as Gunn mentioned. Caught with a roll-up and suddenly, I was now 2-1. I still made it to the semi-finals, but it haunted me. I was embarrassed, but in hindsight? It taught me the most important lesson:
No one is invulnerable..
Not even you, Ironhide.
I had been anticipating facing you ever since our Block had been announced. We're both undefeated, yet I notice everything seems to be in your favor. I can feel it: People think that history is going to repeat itself, that MYŌJIN once again will lose.
But history doesn't repeat itself, it just rhymes.
You've left a path of destruction as champion, I can see why people would have the ignorant misconception that you're an invincible monster.
Like I did, you've deluded yourself into thinking you're untouchable like the idiot you are. You assume that I'll just be a piece of cake like Tuna Meltzer, a joke- or Bloodied Fox, a failed ace.
And THAT is your fatal mistake.
We've faced the same competition but do you know the difference between us? I beat them both faster than you because of my technical brilliance. I paid so much attention to your matches and I realized you're reckless, you're so used to easily dominating because of your strength that you've become complacent, coasting by. And if you think half-assing this will be enough to beat ME, think again.
I'm not 6'5”, I'm barely 5'9”.
I don't weigh 250 pounds like you do, I weigh 165.
I know my disadvantages, but I've trained for as long I remember to dismantle aggressive, incompetent morons like you. How will you lift me if I take out the base of your strength in your legs? How will you land that heart punch if I mangle your hands and arms?
I've become versatile with all the styles of wrestling I've practiced. I learn from my and others' mistakes, I adapt.
Most importantly, I want this more than you. This is my life, my PASSION! I've given my heart and soul to this- and I REFUSE to lose it all to YOU!
Ironhide, you are nothing if not predictable. You lack tact. You lack skill. You lack fundamentals. All you have is brawn.
I know your strengths AND weaknesses. I am your antithesis, everything you are incapable of being. Quicker, unreadable, more precise. Your superior. Your kryptonite.
I will make it to the semi-finals.
I will be Southern States Champion.
