Reputation
VS Ana Somnia | Night of Champions | RP #2
Reputation, Somnia?
Really?
I keep thinking of that conversation we had during your title celebration. That you really, truly are delusional enough to think that I want to fight you to boost my reputation. That I need some sort of validation from you, from anyone.
I guess I thought too highly of you. How unfortunate.
On the 31st of July, you and I are going to be fighting for a prize at Night of Champions. Not just any prize, but the Infinite Pro Heavyweight Championship- A title that may be fairly new in existence compared to most others, but one with great importance.
There's a reason this match is rather high on the card, besides my star power, of course. That championship just might be the sign of the future, the top prize in a promotion that I truly believe could become THE flagship brand of XHF… If led by the right person.
But do you know what also happened at Night of Champions? Last year on, at this very same event after winning the X*Crown Championship, the highest of achievements in the entire Network, I stepped up and successfully defended it against six other competitors- three of them being accomplished veterans. Something that hadn't been accomplished in four years until then.
You're probably ignorantly wondering: “Why does that matter?”
It's because this Network has quickly seen me rise to be one of the most important stars of its modern era. From reviving the Junior Heavyweight Division to doing as I said earlier, I've made these people RECOGNIZE just how damn good I am. I've made a career out of doing what people said is impossible, even immediately once I returned, my face has been everywhere competing against the best of the best. I'm not just known as the Shining Star because it's the nickname I chose, but because every single person that has ever seen me wrestle knows that I shine brighter than anyone else in that ring.
And you think I need to face YOU to boost my reputation? How ignorant, how unaware, how STUPID can you be, champion?
You're NEW here. I've BEEN here.
These fans know, whether they like me or not, that I'm just that damn good. I don't need you- But you need me. Infinite Pro Wrestling needs me. Why? Because without me, this match wouldn't be so close to the main event on the biggest Pay Per View of the year. Because I'm the virtuoso everyone loves to see for my skills and my pretty face.
And all of that comes from a reputation I earned here, not by rambling and trying to convince anyone that'll listen. That's something you wouldn't understand, sweetheart.
It's very evident that you are either unaware of the person that's after your title or just arrogantly underestimating what I'm capable of, either way being a novice mistake for someone in your position. But, oh, Somnia, I've been paying very close attention to you. I've watched your matches, listened to your promos, and I've come to realize that I've given you far too much credit.
That said, there's no doubt that you've proven to be a force to be reckoned with. The winner of the Infinite Power tournament, the inaugural Heavyweight Champion- Those accolades are nothing to scoff at…
But you're not the Goddess that you think you are.
I saw how you talked down to someone I'm rather fond of, Liz Karlson, telling her that you would kill her, destroy her- But she pushed you to your absolute limit throughout that match and while you won, it was not nearly as one-sided as you proclaimed it would be.
I saw the finals of that tournament. I also heard the way you talked so high and mighty to Sokolov, saying that you were going to end her career or maybe even her life… But you didn't fulfill that promise, did you? You won the match, but she pushed you to your limit- Not that you'd ever admit it. Someone you only acknowledged as a “prospect” put a dent in the armor of- and I can't believe I'm saying this with a straight face- Slavic Steel.
And… that's been the case for all of your matches, hasn't it? There's a cognitive dissonance between Ana Somnia, the persona, and then Ana Somnia in the ring. You would rather have these people believe you're some inevitable superwoman; unbreakable. But you aren't. Your mortal, just a woman scared of being seen as vulnerable for even a second. And while those two and others were only able to just put a dent in your armor?
I'll break through and pierce your heart.
Every time you open your mouth, it's to try and remind everyone about how you're someone to be feared. You've built up this little persona about how you're the “Ultimate Badass”- even going as far as to give yourself cliche, edgelord nicknames like The Devil Herself, Walking Armageddon, and other eye-rolling bullshit to try and legitimize the idea that you're a Deity.
And I just happen to have a habit of killing so-called deities in this sport.
You don't intimidate me. You're just a wannabe Mary Sue. Skilled, yes, violent, definitely. But I am not like anyone you faced in that tournament and I'm sure as hell not going to play your tempo.
What's your adorable, little catchphrase? “No one survives"?
I'm not only going to survive you. I'm going to conquer you. I'm going to become the next Infinite Pro Heavyweight Champion.
And I'll have fun doing it.
