Trial By Fire
VS Ana Somnia | Night of Champions | RP #2
You're not taking this seriously, are you?
No, you're not. Even after all I've said, there you go, making your standard same-old speech that I'm sure plenty are tired of hearing. About how you are this unstoppable, woman of steel that simply can't be brought down. That you're going to destroy me, bend me to your will like you have done everyone else in your path so far. I should be oh, so terrified to step in the ring with you, shouldn't I?
I've heard all of these threats before. In the octagon, in the squared circle, suddenly everyone thinks that they're the greatest thing that this sport has ever seen. And because of that, they only grow more and more complacent with the idea they could do no wrong. They forget how wrestling, how fighting can be one of the most unpredictable things- and just at one, single moment when their ability is truly tested but their arrogance blinds them- their little empire crumbles.
Ana Somnia, you think you're special., but the truth is?
You're pretty much every generic wrestler with a superiority complex.
I've pinned, tapped out, and most recently knocked out plenty of people like you. Speaking of Mehrunes-
I hope you were paying attention, champion.
I hope you watched every single second of me kicking, knee-ing, and mauling Smith in the middle of that ring until the light completely faded from his eyes and he went limp. I'm hoping that you're finally starting to understand that I am like no one you've faced in Infinite Pro so far.
I don't buy the hype in you because somehow for someone who acts so experienced, as if you're divinity, for someone who apparently has so much experience in being a World Champion… All I've heard from you is just the same basic garbage that comes from every second-rate “badass” that has come and gone.
But who am I to argue with the results, Somnia? You have gone undefeated. You, champion, have been completely on fire since your very first match in the promotion. You are the inaugural Infinite Pro Heavyweight Champion, and I and no one else will be able to take that away from you. Of course, you'd think you're all-powerful, that no one is on your level, because no one has proven you otherwise yet, right?
Rome was all-powerful too, but due to getting too comfortable and letting their hubris cloud their judgment. Then the barbarians came knocking.
And yet YOU think you're the one destined to lead this promotion to greatness? Somnia, you're not a leader. You're a cancer, a parasite that lacks self-awareness. You're not going to bring Infinite Pro Wrestling to new heights, don't even pretend that you're interested in creating a successful future.
To you? This is just a vanity project. Something to feed your ego, something to make you feel powerful as you look down on everyone else. Otherwise without that illusion? Without that championship within your grasp? You'd have to recognize, no- You'd have to ADMIT that you're not some prophesied Chosen One. All you would do is hold this company back and keep it stagnant, to hold it from achieving real progress.
And maybe Jason Long is fine with that? But I'm not.
I get a kick out of giving people like you reality checks. I enjoy every single second of it and I savor it so much, from the moment that the confidence starts to waver when wrestlers like you realize I'm not just another easy win. I love it when I get to shatter delusions of grandeur. I'm going to especially enjoy it when I get to be the first one here in XHF to take that away from you just as I'll take away your title.
I guess the question is- What are you going to do about it? Will you continue to repeat yourself verbatim like you're reading a script? Remind us all how gritty, how violent, and how scary you are? How you're the Big Baddie to look out for? Oh, I bet, you'll further tell us how it's your destiny to defeat me at Night of Champions, pretending that it's all written in stone so you can sleep at night without the anxiety of imagining if that DOESN'T happen?
And then to top it off, you'll say “No one survives!” again.
Somnia, I am not just your first title defense. I'm not just another long list of names that you've already fought, I'm certainly not another tad pod in some of the small ponds you used to play the big fish within- I am your trial by fire.
And you're not going to pass me, sweetheart.
So, continue to write me off. Continue to ignore the warning signs right ahead of, and continue to believe that you won't lose because it's impossible for you to. Continue to underestimate me, I want you to. That only makes my job easier- and all you'll manage is just to prove me right like I know you will, because you're like a machine simply running its programming.
It'll all just make that cathartic moment once you realize that this world doesn't revolve around you, that professional wrestling doesn't bend its knee to your every move, that I am not another challenge that you can just cast aside because you think you've done it all…. So much sweeter.
Until then, hold onto that shiny belt tightly.
Make sure it's extra polished for me when I take it.
