There’s a small dimly-lit light that shun above the head of a figure, their medium-length hair covering their facial features as the silence quickly fills the room, the home setting quickly becomes revealed once the light shun a little bit brighter and we’re given a full shape to the figure. Their head still lowered, hair still covering their face, and a small sigh coming from this said figure.
“(There always seems to be this stigma that every battle must have some reward- a battle must have some stake within it. That is how it is seen within these western audiences, they seem to always find something that should be up for grabs. I believe that you might call it the term ‘fortune favours the brave’ but for me– I sense it to be something of stupidity amongst you mindess terrible excuses for men or even women. You always seem to find some competition to these sorts of battles, you always want to use these as a way to propel your own ego to a new height– how unfortunate of you to not just take a battle as it should be done.)”
The figure scoffed, rolling their shoulders before hearing a loud crack from their neck as they moved their head to the side and began to roll it around– a grunting sound coming from the figure afterward.
“(And these supposed men and women are what brought me here– to REIGN– to show you what a fight can produce, to show you what a fight should be fought for. Not for this stigma that people need to fight for something that they can show off, not for this stigma that championships are what creates the combatant– but to show that every fight is a risk or reward. You either fight for your life or let it be taken from you with ease. For the past couple of years that I have wrestled within Japan, that has always been the stigma for those that wanted to ‘wrestle’ and not to fight. Some of the most notorious Japanese legends of the sport had always come up to me and wanted to prove that all I was doing was ruining their great sport by finding another stigma outside of championship victories, awards celebrating my legacy, and whatnot.
A fight that they were given on those fateful nights– it cost them years off of their lives, their limbs being torqued into positions that are inhumane to the normal human’s eyes, their bones cracking under the pressure of trying to stand on their own two feet when they knew better than anyone else that they couldn’t keep fighting. And that’s what created me to become a lone wolf to this sport, to what you call wrestling, and soon after– I became the hunter. Throughout the Japanese wrestling scene, every so-called legend has stepped up and every so-called legend has been put down.
With ease.
Rest assured, that same stigma that I carried along my home is the same that I shall carry along the western audiences. The names upon your legends have always intrigued me, they seem to continue even after all of these years– and why? They seem to find themselves trying to prove that they can still continue on? They continue to find themselves in belief that the ‘old school’ style is still better than how the new blood can fight? I find patheticness within your roster, REIGN. More than you could think of even believing. Names that you have upon your next show– the top company right now, and you still continue to rely on these names to find ‘entertainment’ to viewers– a pity that they will be exposed for the weak that they are.)”
A silence soon filled the room, the head of the said figure finally lifted itself up– and revealed the facial features of Taekhiro Shimomura, the newest signing upon the REIGN roster. There’s a scowl along his face but it’s soon wiped away as they slowly shake their head.
“(It is not about just one person this time around, it is about five others– old legends, want-to-be legends, they all remain the same– prey to the predator. Whilst I could begin to speak about your Blaze Freya– they seem to be an inconsistent fighter, as told by their matches across this network and seemingly has only ever tried to be something within REIGN. You, Blaze, are the definition of what can be described as a universal disappointment. These fights that you participate in, the result is always the same– and never in your favour. And considering that you are my first to fight within REIGN– I must make an example out of you, and in the quickest way possible, but don’t worry, Blaze, because I shall make every strike count.
With every kick, you will feel the wound that follows. With every stomp, you will feel yourself being buried beneath the ground. And when you are about to have your arms almost snapped in half by myself at the very end– I shall make you feel punishment unlike anyone has ever decreed upon you. It is within my nature, as a seventh degree black belt in Uechi-Ryu, to make sure that you are put down quickly and painfully– and what a better way to prove such than to these ‘Beat The Clock’ challenges.
It is most fitting to prove a point against these supposed legends than to send an inconsistent ‘star’ back to where they came from– and to make their punishment most defined, to prove that The Hunter had not came here to just fight– but to victimise the playing field one step at a time.)”
The head drops, the lights dim, and the feed soon fades to black.
