The cold night breeze slowly played with his long, black, hair. He, hands deep in his trouser pockets, stood lakeside watching the full moon kissing the waters, in her lake reflection. God knows why he was here, and he doesn´t exist. For some strange reason he loved this place, this was one of his favorite places on earth. This city had it all. The luxury for the millionaires and the simple pleasures of mid-class life. Sometime, in his vagabondage around the world, he discovered Zürich. The city was a metropolis in itself, but it also had the simple aura of an easy existence. It truly was a place for everyone.
He was Eron Hunter, the son of a rich man, but he also was a simple person. Why did he start his travels at such a young age? Everyone knows this by now, he started his adventure in the world intending to become independent and a great fighter. Many a person has traveled the world, many have visited more places than Eron Hunter, in their vacations, but few others in this reality we call life have the heart of a vagabond.
He, Eron, did.
Slept under the stars, spent days of hunger and durst in the streets when he could´ve easily led a tranquil life, protected by his family and their economy; but he chose to be free and was able to pay the price for his choices. Many a man makes his decisions, but very few can handle the consequences. Most of them blame society for their shortcomings, some others lead a life of crime and some others become apathetic and feel almost nothing anymore.
Eron Hunter was lucky.
He had the luck of having managed to stay human after all his sufferings. Not everyone can say that. Many people become cynical human beings, many fall victims to despair and depression. Others overthrow all their values and lean on new ones.
As was the case with Ronnie Long.
The young man, standing lakeside knew that people change. The only constant in this world is change. And so it happens that people set aside their old convictions to embrace new ones; nothing new, under the sun. Ronnie Long had been around the world and seen it all. He too was a vagabond of sorts. Both these two fighters had something in common, they were world travelers. They had fought in many federations, more than they could remember, and had won their share of belts. This was the first really serious challenge for Eron Hunter, after his return to the world of wrestling.
Nothing against Goth, Godfrey, or Xiaolong but Ronnie Long was of another caliber entirely. Well, when he was motivated and ready to put it all in the ring. Other times he was a bore and demotivated. This was nothing new for all the veterans of the business, all fighters who have fought for years and years are hard to motivate. They have seen it all and nothing can surprise them anymore.
But this was not a plus for them, totally the opposite.
When we are young everything is new for us. The days are long and full of fresh things to discover. As we grow up things become less and less impressive and the time we are awake and aware is significantly shorter. Everything becomes automated and a bore. We grow older and wiser, true, but alas we pay less and less attention to everything.
Thus in a situation in which we should pay full attention all the time, we are at a disadvantage.
This was the case in the case of Eron Hunter Vs Ronnie Long.
Eron Hunter was younger
Faster
And powerful enough to be able to stand face to face with Long.
Although he could be considered a veteran of the ring, he was also young enough to be aware of the surroundings and pay full attention to them. This was the advantage Eron Hunter; The world champion and the hall of famer, had against Ronnie Long, a multiple-time champion and a respectful adversary to boot.
Eron sighed and looked up, towards the star-filled night sky. He was a vagabond with heart and soul. He had seen it all and fought against many, but he still had the curiosity of youth by his side. He would pay full attention to this upcoming fight and make sure he gave it all in the next bout. After all, Long was someone who had much to teach. Even if these lesions would only center on depressive moods and reasons as to why one should never turn his back on life.
“All roads lead to Rome”
Eron Hunter smiled. These words were wise enough. He had traveled around the world and yet, he still found his way back home. And yet he still returned to himself even after all the treachery and lies of his so-called friends. He returned to his positive and optimistic side, even if the road was long and he sometimes lost track.
This, my friends, is true strength.
He smiled again
What a night.
