The Ronin duo sit within the lobby of the hotel that has been their mainstay for the past couple months, Takuma looking a bit more irate than usual, no doubt in part thanks to the loss suffered in falling short of claiming gold though Daisuke seems rather unfazed by the matter.
Takuma: “We almost had them…just one good shot…”
Daisuke: “It’s in the past, Takuma. The Academy fared better and worked more tactically than we could’ve hoped to achieve.”
Takuma: “How are you so sure?”
Daisuke: “It was veteran champions going against a team that was practically slapped together because of our shared interests. We’ve one objective down, and one other to go outside of our wrestling agenda, but the business has always been our main priority has it not? If I’m to be honest, Raiden’s sudden reappearance I think is what threw us off because seeing him allied with those Harbingers feels…off. I would’ve expected to have teamed with more tasteful people rather than those who give the same energy as a very dangerous group…almost akin to Yakuza to some extent.”
Takuma raises a brow at the comment but Daisuke dismissively waves a hand at the notion of it.
Daisuke: “Not jabbing a blow at you, just making a comparison is all.”
Takuma: “Fair enough.”
Big Tiger sighs, leaning back in his chair.
Takuma: “Well, we’ve The Death Knights at Collision Course. I know you’re familiar with Hampton from the G1 though his partner is someone I can’t say there’s much to go off when he just rather…appeared, though they have some connection with one another.”
Daisuke: “Indeed. Last time I clashed with Scott it resulted in him advancing to the semi-finals though now he too has crashed out and instead finds himself still wanting. A shame, but at least we get to dance once more in the ring, even if it is a tag team match this time around.”
Shogun steeples his hands together, chin resting against the pinnacle of his fingers.
Daisuke: “But for a change, the advantage has been placed in our laps for a fitting occasion. These….Death Knights, as they’ve opted to call themselves, have yet to really showcase much of their ability to work with synergy have they not?”
Takuma (nodding): “You would be correct in that notion.”
Daisuke: “So with all that in mind, what’s your take on the matter? I haven’t heard you give a whole lot of thought to our encounters since our debut.”
Takuma: “First off, that’s because you opted into that G1 so tag matches were out the window there. Secondly, there’s a lot to openly discuss about how flawed Hampton is as a person.”
Big Tiger rolls his eyes at the thought, shaking his head.
Takuma: “All this prattle about what he’s been fighting for and how he’s gotten where is by fighting day in day out. Too common of a phrase and just about any average salaryman has probably said the same thing in an argument themselves, so what makes him different? Nothing. Absolutely nothing. I’m sure you’ve heard your own students mention how they bring their all and what has it amounted to in the end?”
Daisuke (chuckling): “Usually it ends in me dropping them on the canvas.”
Takuma: “Point proven. What Hampton had last time out was nothing more than pure luck and it carried him up until Trixie Mars and now he’s been knocked back down the ladder. He’s a fucking farce is what he is. Rags to riches my ass…you know who’s really been rag to riches? Us. You started out and always have been a man of the underground scene, Daisuke, and you’ve a rapport that upholds your legacy and me?”
He shakes his head.
Takuma: “Fucking hell I used to be a Yakuza, I’ve done some things that no man should ever do even if it’s for money and taking that strength and intellect I gained during my time as a real criminal, I shifted it to something more honest and prideful. My matches may be few but everyone knows damn well that I’m a force in the ring. Pit me against Hampton, pit me against Kaven, it doesn’t make a damn difference. I’ve fought groups of men as I’m sure you’ve had to deal with sharing the ring with several men at once but has it ever stopped either of us from continuing on? No.”
A fleeting moment of applause echoes from Daisuke.
Daisuke: “Well spoken. If I may interject though, there is of course Kaven that we’ve neglected to discuss. This….German Machine he is….supposedly technically gifted when he’s just sprung up out of nowhere. This runs the equivalent of a time when I was wrestling up in Hokkaido for a business trip and I was pitted against some homegrown kid that grew up in Sapporo. Said he was the next technical wrestling king and that a man in his early thirties at the time was already past his prime and would be an easy win to start his career. Personally, didn’t let that slide all that well. In five minutes that match was over, and the kid was staring up at the lights with me standing over him. The self-entitled and self-proclaiming are the ones that want to avoid my warpath at all cost because if I can catch wind of some shit like that, I’m going to put you to the test and they will lose every damn time. Bodies upon bodies, victims upon victims, they blew their heads up with their own philosophies only for me to stick the needle in their inflated egos and made them pop and deflate in no time.”
Daisuke leans back in his chair, shrugging.
Daisuke: “Death Knights….yeah, death is waiting for them. Death awaits in that ring with blades already brandished, claws at the ready, looking to tear flesh from limb. I’ll admit, you upped me last time Scott, but when you get put in a pen that also houses a tiger, you better start saying your prayers before it’s lights out. Oh, and don’t think the pain will be swift either. After all, you’re used to suffering aren’t you? Well, allow us to give you a very, very pleasant reminder of what all that anguish is like in the ring when you and your fellow Knight stare death right in its bloody face.”
Fade to black.
