Fade in, we see a small theatre stage, it’s empty and there is nobody in the audience. Slowly, we hear some footsteps, and Trixie Mars walks out. There’s no theatrics, the lights are on, the whole set up is simple. She looks towards the camera and a smile flickers over her face.
“Does this look familiar? It should. Only a few months ago I stood on this stage, and for effect we stuck a spotlight on me, and I told the NLW, hell, I told the world that I was coming to make a mess of the G1. And look at what I did! Traywick, Bugz?, Cheez, Hampton, all of them tossed aside, all of them taken down and now there is just one more person in my way before I’m crowned the Queen of the NLW G1. We stuck that spotlight on me because y’all had no idea who I was, and whilst I knew I’d stand out, you were all busy talking about Spike Kane, MYOJIN, Bloodied Fox, and yet none of them are in the final, but I am.” She holds her arms out smugly. “And now? I don’t need that spotlight to stand out, I’m here on merit. I’ve gone from that girl who didn’t get her chances at UPW to the woman who is knocking at the door of a future NLW Heavyweight Title shot. Nobody’s asking why I’m apart of The Academy any more. Nobody needs to ask who I am, because I’ve made it freaking clear just who I am.”
She smiles again.
“So no spotlight, no theatrics, no smoke and mirrors. I’m just a leading lady, stood here on centre stage, knowing that this is where I belong, this is where I should be. I’m not the extras in the wings, I’m not the supporting cast, I’m Christine from Phantom, I’m Maria in West Side Story, but most of all I’m Roxie from Chicago, a heart breaker, a killer kitten in the middle of the real home of jazz...and damn am I cute too.” She winks. “Now, my opponent at Collision Course is no stranger to all of this. But unlike me, he still enjoys the smoke and mirrors, he still thrives in playing the theatrics in and out of the ring, he is, of course, The Thespian.”
She slows down towards the end, her expression becoming more serious with each word.
“I’ll be totally honest with you, Thespian, when I signed up for the G1, out of all the names being banded about, it was you I wanted to face the most. You arrived in NLW and have been dominant for almost every second you’ve been here. The only other guy in this locker room that has been as consistent as you is probably Leon Chant. You are still the longest reigning Southern States Champion on record. You have beaten all of the big names, Kane, Kelly, Sanderson, they’ve all fallen to you. And now I have no doubt that you expect me to be next, you want to finally get that one on one shot for the NLW Heavyweight Title you’ve been wantin’ more than Riley Richards wants to stream his whole day on Instagram live.” She grins. “But you’re gonna’ have to wait a while longer yet my faceless antagonist. You may think you’re worthy of centre stage, just like me, but only one of us can take the last round of applause come the curtain call.”
She starts to paces back and forth, right to left in a small section in the middle of the stage.
“Sure, you probably think you’re worth it, you’ve been the centre of attention, the talk of the town for so long now. And you sure deserve it, whilst you’ve never won the big one here I don’t think anybody argues with the reputation that precedes you. But sweetie, I’m the new blood , the hot stuff that’s caught everybody else’s attention. I know this, but I haven’t let it carry me away, I’ve kept grounded with my mentality and taken to the skies in the ring. I hope that I’ve not been making you jealous, taking all that attention away, because sure, you’ve been main event, but the fans are only talking about my matches.”
She smirks and stops pacing, facing forward once more.
“But all of this gets a bit irrelevant now, because we’re about to hit the end of the final act, I’ve grown, I’ve had my challenges, but now the biggest challenge stands before me, because all memorable leading ladies have to face a serious challenge towards the end, and they have to find a way to overcome it. And I know Thespian, I know that deep down I have the skills, the talent, and most importantly the heart to beat you. I expect you to take me to my absolute limit, more than anybody else has before, but with only one spot left here on centre stage, I’ll be damned if I stand aside at this point.”
She takes a step forward.
“For as long as you have been in NLW you have told us that this is your stage, it isn’t, perhaps it was once but not anymore. You’re going to find that out at Collision Course, Thespian. Your constant talk of tragedies, comedies and showmanship, it’ll all be irrelevant when we step in the ring.” One more step, front and centre. “When the dust settles, I’ll still be stood right here, and you’ll just have to watch on as this queen gets coronated, and then? Well, then it’ll be my Homecoming, and my NLW Heavyweight Title.”
Trixie pauses and once again her arms come out to the side.
“Trixie Mars…underdog no longer.”
With that, she bows and the curtains on stage come across in front of her, and we fade to black.
