Wrestler Info
Wrestler's Name: Kalmin Watts
Alias/Nicknames: N/A
Height: 6’6”
Weight: 260 lbs
Alignment: Face
Hometown: Tulsa, Oklahoma
Description: Bron Breakker, but with a less angry demeanor. A little bulkier than Bron, too. He also wears a classic singlet, but it is Oklahoma crimson with Oklahoma cream trim.
He wears a black suit with an Oklahoma crimson shirt with an Oklahoma cream tie to formal events. When training, he wears some University of Oklahoma shorts. When out and about, he wears a classic wrestling or University of Oklahoma T-shirt and jeans.
Wrestler's Outlook: Has finished training and had a few matches in the southern United States. Doesn’t take to hardcore and gimmick matches due to his amateur background. Would rather fight someone one-on-one under traditional rules.
Background: Kalmin got into wrestling due to his paternal grandfather’s love of the sport. Whenever he would visit them, Kalmin’s grandfather would play tapes of old Mid-South Wrestling and the Universal Wrestling Federation. He played football in high school mostly because the wrestlers in those old territories used to play football. However, he never truly embraced that sport. Even without the love of football, Kalmin still played for the University of Oklahoma just like one of his grandfather’s favorites, “Dr. Death” Steve Williams. To honor both men, Kalmin used Dr. Death’s theme music for the few couple of months of his career. Kalmin has admitted in interviews that he used football to pay for his education, but he was prouder to be on OU’s wrestling team. He had a few regional distinctions, but no national championships or anything of that sort.
At age 24, Kalmin’s career has started in W:UK, but, due to his manager’s insistence, he has branched out into Hardkore World. In W:UK, Watts got a bit lost in the shuffle as the company was getting ready for the Battle of Britain. He was entered in the 20-person elimination match. He made the final six.To wrap up 2022, he was embroiled in a feud with 2022 MVP Eddie Havok. The feud started with two draws (time limit and double count-out) before Havok finally emerged victorious at New Year’s Brawl on January 1, 2023.
On January 16, 2023, Watts defeated Oxford Osland for the W:UK British TV Title in an impromptu match. Winning with a Spear, Watts added the move to his arsenal give his experience with it as a football player. In April, Watts became the longest reigning champion in WUK. At that time, Watts renewed his rivalry with Wesley Crane. Watts was selected by Crane's Dominion opponent, Ronnie Long, in a "Pick Your Poison" match. Crane won after weighing down his fist with a wrench, taken from under the ring, and knocking Watts out. In June, Watts and Crane faced each other in a unification match of the WUK World Heavyweight Title and WUK British TV Title. After thinking Crane tapped out, Watts released the Sooner Squeeze. He was then hit with the WUK World Heavyweight Title belt, and Crane united the titles.
After attacking Crane to force a re-match, Watts finally captured the WUK World Heavyweight Title at Night of Champions in late July. Watts briefly achieved Crane’s dream of being WUK and HKW World Heavyweight champion, which was salt in the wound to his rival.
Watts joined HKW in November 2022. In HKW, Watts embraced the regional/territorial approach of the long-standing federation. He would invite local fans to partake in the Sooner Squeeze Challenge. Anyone who could break his hold or endure it for one minute, would win $10,000. When Watts would win, the money would be donated to a local charity of the town HKW would be visiting. Watts joined Team HKW to fight Team WUK in February 2023 and led them to victory.
Watts's pride in the Sooner Squeeze soon drew the attention of Tap Out owner, Cross Recoba. Cross proclaimed that Garibaldi's Guillotine was the premier submission move. This led to a match. Neither submission hold won the match. Cross was able to trick the referee into thinking Watts used a steel chair and earned a disqualification victory. Watts then teamed with Kilroy Evans, Little Dragon, and the Sheik to face the Anointed in War Games. It was another chance for Watts to get a crack at his old rival, Wesley Crane. The Anointed emerged victorious, but attacked their leader, Marty Donovan. Anthony Jordan has pushed for Watts to bring Marty into the fold, but Watts was slow to trust Donovan.
After their match, Cross Recoba went to the top of the mountain in HKW and defeated Marty Donovan for the HKW World Heavyweight Title. Watts was named the #1 Contender after the Sacramento show in June. Watts would capture his first World Heavyweight Title at Irish Rage in July. Sadly, Watts would become the shortest-reigning HKW World Champion in the company’s history by submitting to Recoba two weeks later at XHF’s Night of Champions in New York. Recoba would finally dust his hands of Watts in an Iron Man Match in Denver.
The losses appeared to leave Watts changed. Due to injuries in the matches, Watts took to wearing a mask that covered his whole head. Anthony Jordan began to shield Watts from HKW TV and personalities.
