The Story
Humble Beginnings
Humble Beginnings
About six months ago, the Xtreme Hardcore Federation, a grand and large fed was taken over by James Mueller, a longtime wrestler of said company, claiming to have bought the owner from Mongo the Destroyer, the owner for over six years. Somehow, the charismatic Mueller was able to envelope about half the company, doing so, he managed to cause a lot more trouble than he had originally intended, in fact, some of the things Mueller did led to the unraveling of and shutting down of the XHF itself at the end of March of 2008.
The most notable, and arguably the most lethal mistake Mueller made was to cancel the company's Monday show, Pyro. He did so without consulting anyone, nor talking with the network that hosted the program, the Fox network. Having to quickly fill the rather large spot with programming did not leave the network's owner, Rupert Murdoch, very happy. Being the huge media mogul that he is, Murdoch proceeded to inform Mongo, the XHF's real owner, that the flagship show, Gastro, would not be re-contracted, nor would Pyro be allowed back on the air.
Mongo, in his trademark cockiness, informed Murdoch that the XHF didn't need Fox and would gladly go elsewhere. Murdoch responded by making it clear to every other network that the XHF was too unstable and not worth contracting. Suddenly, just as he was regaining control of his company, Mongo was beginning to realize that no other network would air his product, which had a reputation for pushing the envelope and now was considered unreliable.
Rather than drop the promotion down to more of a regional level, since getting a TV deal was seemingly impossible, Mongo decided to cut the companies losses and end it at their last show before Gastro's contract with Fox ran out, Night of Champions. At the PPV, the company went out with a bang and everyone went home feeling a little dissatisfied that they'd have no job the next day, but still quite pleased with how the company closed.
One man had other ideas though. Bongo the Destroyer, Mongo's best friend, and an XHF mainstay so loved wrestling that he didn't want the XHF ride to end. But having never ventured onto his own in terms of wrestling, he also felt uncomfortable wrestling in random feds now in his older age. With this in mind, he approached Mongo about using the XHF name rights, and starting up his own company. Mongo was very hesitant, but always giving in to his best friend's wishes, he decided to grant Bongo the rights to the XHF name- however, he made it clear that Bongo would get nothing else from the now closed company. Mongo had hoped this would cause Bongo to become disinterested, but instead it only ignited Bongo's interest in this product that he'd definitely have full control over. He deemed his wrestling company XHF: No Mercy.
But where would this company be headquartered? Bongo wasn't allowed to use the XHF HQ in Minneapolis, Minnesota, so he had to think of an inexpensive building that could house several offices. Bongo went back to his pad in Akron, Ohio, which happened to be the former Brain Doggy Dog Wrestling Federation office building. As he sat and watched TV, pondering where to go, it suddenly became very clear that his couch was in the middle of a lobby in a perfectly fine two story office building. In his excitement, Bongo quickly started re-arranging his furniture to prepare the building for active use once more.
While ordering ring equipment and putting out an open call to wrestlers around the world, Bongo was also able to secure himself a website for the company, a once-a-week booking at the Akron Civic Center for his wrestlers to show off to the public, and most importantly a small once-a-week slot at the end of the channel 5 news to promote XHF:No Mercy.
Bongo and the rest of the XHF: No Mercy staff have high hopes for their currently regional sized promotion. Though, with Bongo's preferences towards the obscure and bizarre, it is unknown just how things will turn out. Also, there has been word that a more serious man, the former owner of the VXW, Alex Reid has also talked to Mongo recently, about what Bongo has no idea though.
What this means to you, the roleplayer:
Alright, so this company is small, regional sized. So before even applying you should consider how far along your wrestler is. Odds are he wouldn't be getting paid well, so I'd recommend you use one of your minor guys here, as a big shot would probably overlook a company of this size.
Also, don't expect a lot from the results. For the weekly show, since it's not televised, there won't be full matches when the results are posted. What the results will consist of is basically all that the official voice of XHF: No Mercy, Joey Hawke, can squeeze into the small segment consisting of match highlights and fed information. If you want full results every time you rp, well I'm sorry, I simply don't have the time or energy to make that happen right now. We will try to have full results for the large monthly show, but I won't make any guarantees about it until we try it.
On top of that, Bongo's leanings towards wackiness and originality will be reflected in the booking early on. That means that you should have fun with the rps, try to build fun and crazy stories. Out-there gimmicks are very welcome, and your standard "cocky" or any other dull gimmick will probably not make a big star in this company.
Knowing both of these facts (small shows and oddball booking), I'm not asking you to put your heart and soul into rps. To be absolutely honest, I have no desire to read a book when you rp, I just want some fun light stuff about your character and how somehow you should be beating the guy set in front of you.
The matches for the shows will be made either by the admins or by members, we'll try to post the initial card several days in advance, to allow for more matches to be made should members want to do things that way.
As Bongo tends to side more with a kiddie product, I'd like you folks to stray away from dropping f-bombs left and right for now. Also, there's no need in a fed for racism, sexism, homophobia, politics, or any of that other crap that just pisses people off and doesn't really help anything. With the fed's size, there's no house shows, so in-ring promos can't really happen.
Most importantly though, have fun folks, that's what e-feds are all about! Trust me, this place will be awesome. As time goes on and the company grows, it'll be reflected in how the fed does in-character, eventually I'm hoping for us to be global-sized like the original XHF, but that's gonna take all of your help. So lets rock this!
