The world changes but fedding continues. From snail mail, to email, to boards, to just a whole ton of social media- where do you think efedding is heading next?
I've noticed in the last few years that there are a huge number of VG feds- to the point where a lot of the people involved with them aren't even familiar with written feds existing. But is it the future? I mean anyone can run season mode on a 2k game by themselves without any stakes- no insult to our current VG feds, I think especially SCCW does a good job of making it personal and engaging- I'm talking about just watching matches with either downloaded CAWs or the stock characters the game comes with.
What about discord? Or Facebook? Or Twitter? As an older fogy in fedding I question if those formats, which often bury older stuff and have limits on how much can be posted at a time can have the sort of rich results a fed based on a site or board can.
So I'm not real sure, because the current trends to me don't seem sustainable. Then again, I'm clearly biased to the style I'm used to.
What about you though? What do you see as the future of fedding?

I’ve seen video feds.
People actually film themselves cutting there promos. They’d have some setting and attempt to perform the promo.

as someone who's done nearly every modern form of efedding i'm honestly not sure where the future will take us. I know we were joking about it and stuff with like the metaverse or whatever. but like honestly, vr and that sorta stuff could be a future option right there. idk how you'd archive it though, maybe like record it or whatever, but idk.
i feel like boards are still the best option, as they can last for a long time, but even they aren't forever. my first two main feds both were on boards and are now barely on the archived site. twitter feds can be fun and interesting, but are also kinda hard to keep up with results wise and show/history wise. maybe we'll incorporate a bunch of different things together and try to mix and match what works and what doesn't. who knows, but i do know one thing.
efedding is eternal. efedding is forever.

Sometimes the future is buried in the past. We've gone from paper reports to emails and chatrooms to boards to full interactive sites back to boards. There are some interactive sites out there, but for the most part sites are backed by boards. So pretty boards with a site built around them or plain boards.
Metaverse. I mean it would be interesting to see an online wrestling game like World of Warcraft where people meet up on certain days for shows where they wrestle in the ring like an actual show, but is that really efedding? I don't know.
Just like I find efedding on Facebook or Twitter or anything else where it becomes easy to bury need to know info, shows, and roleplays to be silly. I joined a Facebook fed or two as "a fan" and did not like what I saw. I especially don't really like video promos, especially when you get the guys pretending to be women on a screen. Like WTF?
I would like to see efedding become a bit more mainstream and popular one day though there really isn't anything physical for companies to profit off of like when we see Dungeons and Dragons in main stores like Walmart and Meijer. Like I would love to see someone one television be like "Yeah, I'm an efedder and I love it." What a boost for membership we would get if some celeb came out as efedding. Though mind, we would also have to deal with every Tom, Dick, and Harry who think they can write and know ALL about wrestling, but I think those types of players do come in waves sometimes. You get the younger sibling or child who see their sibling or parent efedding and they want to do it too. My little brother was like that with D&D when we wouldn't let him play. He and his friend made up a system to play. You know the kind of system that an eight year old can make, but I digress.
Unless Poser and animating Poser becomes really cheap, we will have limited video game feds. Until wrestling itself is no more, we will have efedding prolly on boards and board backed sites. Sidestream feds where you post on sites that will pay you is an option, but we're a ways away from someone setting up a blockchain efed. I think anyway. I wouldn't put it past Moonie to create a blockchain fed with its own coin, but that's another divergence.

If e-fedding is going to Facebook, e-fedding is dying.

If e-fedding is going to Facebook, e-fedding is dying. The people who are in Facebook feds swear by them. I don't really get the appeal other than I think it's easier to upload video promos that way.

Honestly as long as the WWE exists, you'll find some form of fan fiction - even if that ends up being John Cena slash fiction.
But E-W with written promos is a dying medium, as people read less and less... let alone write.
So you'll soon be looking at a bigger shift being to video feds (shirts optional Kuroi), the forum will change with the trends. Frankly FB is going the way of MySpace, but whatever the app of the day is - Instagram / TikTok will be your arena. Match writing going the way of online votes or most views.
Now you will always find a few of us that are camera shy and stick to this type of venue, but that pool is shrinking.

It's because it's easy and it fits the target demographic. The majority (likely >90%) of people who FB-Fed (I'm just calling it that from now on) are either 16 or act 16. Here are the benefits to them: - The website is convenient. They already use FB. - It's easy to use. They just trash talk in front of the camera and upload it to the FB group. - They prefer a style that doesn't take a lot of time or effort. Spitting out videos is perfect for that. - It's simple. Here are the disadvantages to them: - Facebook's TOS. It's not like they have a story behind these videos. It's not like they professionally edit them either. These videos accomplish little quips while in their mom's basement or in their yard, and can't even make it look like their character is of a higher-standard to Rat Bastard (which is an unintended insult to Rat, considering his character is intentional and therefore, deserves more respect). FB-Fedding to fedding is like incest to sex. Is it technically fedding? Sure, but you know the works that they create are all monstrosities.

Let's see I started in PBM's Play By Mail feds and in one I helped voice an event on an audiotape (Tape recorded) but I lost my copy of the event. Hardkore World started as a PBM and then became an e-fed which I was in. I prefer the e-fed format because you can roleplay and the results are published as well as send in segments. The other formats like Facebook and such where you record yourself doesn't totally work since there are those who aren't that tech savvy (Okay I admit to that). Oh and they sell goofy action wrestling figures in all sizes and names in various stores such as dollar stores and sometimes grocery stores and toy stores (If they still exist).

Metaverse, VR, putting shows on like video feds but in envrionments made by a roster of fans, much like our efeds do now - but the writing would be visual.
To add to that, I think if the Metaverse is a virtual platform and eWrestling became something in that capacity; I would totally buy a ticket to have a virtual seat at an XHF show.

But as they say, it takes a village.
To me VR will never be the only medium of a future for this, due to price point and internet availability.
This hobby is a writer's sanctuary; we don't require more than time and imagination to come up with content.
VR or the metaverse would require man hours, coordination, money, skilled people at the right positions for graphics, etc. Its a pipe dream but I don't discredit the idea as something UFC or WWE try to do as it becomes more relevant and draws eyes.
I know concerts are already being planned in the metaverse. Amp that up for wrestling or fights, and with what we saw with COVID - it's only a matter of time until promoting in the metaverse happens.
