The scene opens up somewhere, on some pier, in the middle of the night. Although it is nighttime, the surroundings are well-lit. The camera is focused and shows a tall man, wearing a black trench coat, with his back turned at that very camera. He seems to be looking at something, and after some seconds’ points at it. The camera moves direction the finger is pointing. There is a small boat anchored in the pier, with something written in azure on its side.
“Wild at Heart” written on it
The man puts his hands in his coat pockets, looking over his shoulder direction camera. He takes a few deep breaths and starts speaking calmly, placidly, as we recognize who it is. It´s the commonwealth champion, Eron Hunter.
“Wild at Heart.
A wild-at-heart human knows how to be free. He or She knows how to appreciate the dreams and untamed moments of life. This person never surrenders and never gives up, He or she is a force of nature worth being reckoned with by those that surround them. The energy surrounding them is infectious and inspirational towards those that are near them.”
Eron lowers his head, looking at the ground beneath his feet. He looks for some more seconds and then takes a few deep breaths, before resuming his speech.
“This boat is the first thing I bought with the money earned from my first victories in the world of professional wrestling. I bought it because I always wanted to remember what it means to be a dreamer, a free spirit, a Wild at Heart person. I never wanted my wins or my losses in the wrestling world to make me forget my dreams and my love for life and the fight in general.
I never wanted to forget.
To abandon dreams and hope
To become a cynical human being.
Unlike you Ronnie Long!
You have strayed from the righteous path, the path of the warrior and the fighter. You think you know better now, that you are wiser and stronger. Smarter and tougher, but you are not. All you have become is a frail and poisonous old fart.
That´s all you are, old man.
You smell like farts. And that´s what you are now. “
Eron is silent for some seconds and then turns towards the camera, facing it. He stares holes towards the camera, and speaks slowly but firmly, secure about the message he is delivering.
“You are cynical and poisonous.
Not wiser. Not stronger. Just poisonous.
I spent hours and hours thinking about this and your actions. I know for sure you, once, used to have a pure and strong heart. I know for a fact that you used to be righteous and a dreamer. But, tell me, Ronnie Long, what has become of you now? Tell me, friend, what are the reasons behind your actions…
…And why should I care!
Why, Ronnie Long, tell me why should I justify your actions. Besides the fact that I am an empathic human being and able to see the world with other people´s eyes, why should I care about the reasons you have to act the way you do? Why should I justify you running in and ruining my matches? Why should I care that you feel disillusioned by life, to the point of no return, and that that makes you act the way you do?
Why should I justify you, when you do not justify me?
Tell me, why do you not care about my way of looking at life anymore? Why do you fail to understand that this is the same way you used to look at life too? Or better said, why do you think that merely because you look at life differently now, this way is the right one?
Let me tell you, Ronnie Long.
It is not!
And I am tired of your charade. Of your cynical way. Of your running-ins and ruining everything’s.
I know I can justify you, Long. I just don’t want to do it anymore. I am not your shrink. No your friend and not your ally.
I am your opponent in this upcoming fight and my duty is not to be there as your ally. My duty is to kick your ass all around the place and add another win to my record. A win not only over an opponent but also a win against a loser! Against a loser that has forgotten the right way to fight and believe.
I am Wild at Heart, Long…
…And you are not!
Not anymore. And since you have forgotten, I am proud to stand there and make you believe again, by beating you and pinning your shoulders for the one two three.”
Eron looks at the camera.
Silently for some seconds.
Until the scene fades to black.
