He was sitting under an apple tree, looking at the cerulean sky and the clouds swimming high in there. He took a deep breath and started whistling a well-known tune. After some instants, he stopped, placed his forearms behind the back of his head, and closed his eyes.
Everything was going well.
Almost everything.
He hadn´t had much time to think about the recent happenings in W: UK, since getting the call that told him he would face Daigo Arakawa for the Junior Heavyweight Title. He trained hard and was focused on this fight, since winning such a title meant a lot to him.
But now, with the fight approaching and having half a free moment, his mind was swimming back. He started thinking about his fight against Ronnie Long. All the time this fight took to mold into what it molded into, and then…
…He won the fight in under ten minutes.
He shook his head and stared at the white clouds in the sky.
Now, Eron Hunter was sure about his own skills and talent. He was no pushover and had the power and speed to hang on against the best of the best. And he was sure about something else too. Ronnie Long belonged up there with the best of the best.
So, what happened in that ring?
Eron took a cigarette from his overcoat pocket and lit it. He took a few deep drags and leaned against the tree trunk. There was a question swimming in the sea of thoughts within his mind…
…Did Ronnie Long
Hold back?
He analyzed the whole fight.
There was no shade of any doubt in Ronnie Long´s actions until that very fight. He interfered and caused a lot of trouble. He seemed sure about what he was doing until the very end, until that night when they fought against each other.
Eron Hunter was a skilled wrestler. He didn´t have to doubt his ability to finish a fight in the glimpse of an eye.
So, why then?
Why was there a feeling worrying him, why did he doubt the fact that he won the match clearly and without any shade of hesitation?
He shook his head and took a final drag out of the cigarette.
Did Ronnie Long
Hesitate?
The flocks of birds flying in the sky and the white clouds swimming in it gave the whole scene a placid tone. He stood up and started pacing towards the Hunter Villa.
Time would tell.
He had other worries now; he had to fight a difficult fight; one of the most difficult ones in his entire pro career. Daigo was no pushover; that was something Eron Hunter knew.
He was ready, though.
It was mid-November.
…But winter was nowhere in sight.
Everything was going well.
Almost everything.
