Outside of a warehouse, two men armed with pistols guard the only unlocked entrance to the building. They don’t have name tags or anything so let’s call them John and Tom.
Tom opens a pack of cigarettes and pops one between his lips. He offers John one, who turns him down. Tom just shrugs and lights the cigarette.
Tom: You see the game last night?
John just shakes his head with a smile.
John: Nah, man. I was watching a replay of the End of Days finale. Watching Zoran Sainovic defeat Steve Awesome for the X*Crown was pretty awesome.
Tom: I would argue that it wasn’t awesome since Awesome didn’t win.
John laughs.
John: Yeah, man. I get it. The whole tournament got pretty grisly. Especially when Bloodied Fox and Zoran went at it.
Tom looks like he’s about to say something, but takes a drag from his cigarette instead. That’s when the cherry on his cigarette explodes into a million sparks and Tom’s eyes go wide with shock. John looks at him, more curious than afraid.
John: Hey, man. You aight?
The cigarette falls from Tom’s lips, hollow from front to back. Blood trickles from his mouth as he falls onto his face. John looks on in shock, but then he notices the upholstery needle embedded in the door.
It’s dark out and the only real light is above the door. Not a bright design. John looks around with his revolver pulled and points into the darkness surrounding him.
John: Fucking show yourself! I will shoot you!
A sudden motion out of the corner of John’s eye makes him turn and shoot, but another upholstery needle finds its way down the barrel of his gun and causes the gun to explode and send metal shards into John’s face and chest. John falls backwards into the door, dropping the ruined weapon.
Esmeralda von Krauss runs into the light, ducking down, and leaping up into a palm strike to John’s jaw with a loud crack as the man’s neck snaps like a twig as his head is snapped back. He too, falls onto his face. She squats down in her black dress that’s cut up high on the sides and checks for a pulse on each man. She smiles when she finds that both men are alive.
Esmeralda von Krauss: You two won’t be walking anytime soon, but you won’t die tonight.
She considers the door for a moment before standing to the side of the door so she will be behind it when opening. She rips the door open and leaps straight up to land on top of the door. She holds her balance as heavy machine gun fire rips through part of the door and wall beside it. The guards are lucky to be laying down on the ground as they would have died. Esmeralda listens as the gunfire stops.
“You kill the guys out front?”
“No? Maybe? They didn’t use the knock!”
“I’ll go check. Put another belt on that fucking thing, but do NOT fucking shoot me. Got it?”
“Yeah. I got it.”
A man walks out through the door, looking at the downed guards.
“They’re down, but you didn’t shoot them.”
Esmeralda silently hops down behind the door, but nudges the door as she does so. The guard whips the door closed and goes to point his revolver at Esmeralda, but she easily takes the gun from him and pistol whips him in the temple. She drops the gun and grabs him by the back of the head and slams his face into the door. She can hear the other guard from the other side.
“Jimmy? Everything okay?”
Esmeralda presses Jimmy’s face into the door and whispers in his ear.
Esmeralda von Krauss: Jimmy, dahling, tell him everything is alright and that you’re coming in.
Jimmy: No.
Esmeralda von Krauss: Then, you are of no use to me alive.
Jimmy: Wait! Everything is fine, Ronald! The guys ducked under the gunfire. I’m coming back in.
Ronald: Use the knock, Jimmy. I can’t let you back in without the knock!
Esmeralda von Krauss: Use the knock, dahling. You don’t want to end up paralyzed like your friends here. Do you?
Jimmy’s eyes go to the bloody upholstery needle embedded in the door frame and swallows hard.
Jimmy: Right.
He does a complicated knock before opening the door. Esmeralda shoves the man inside and ducks to the side while Ronald opens fire and shreds Jimmy. Esmeralda pokes her head in the doorway and hurls her ornate silver dagger that catches the burly Ronald in the forehead. The gunfire stops as Ronald falls to his back.
Esmeralda walks into the warehouse and plucks her silver dagger from Ronald’s head. She clucks her tongue.
Esmeralda von Krauss: Wasn’t supposed to kill any and two are dead. Oooohhh, the employer isn’t going to like this one. Well, no sense holding back now.
There is an office building in the center of the warehouse. That is, offices on the second floor of a building with a cafeteria on the bottom. Empty racks are all around the office building. A sign that this warehouse hasn’t been used as a warehouse in some time. Esmeralda climbs to the top rack and begins to slowly make her way toward the office. She takes out her smart phone and turns it on herself.
Esmeralda von Krauss: I suppose that I should also talk about my match, even as I am working a mission. I do need to keep talking about my opponents and such.
From inside the cafeteria, commotion can be heard.
“Hey, Ronald. You get what you were shooting at?”
A whole lot of care going on for each other’s success.
Esmeralda von Krauss: I find myself in a strip match against people who go bump in the night. Null is a masked wrestler who has masked all of the basic play wrestling techniques. The Jitterman comes straight out of those CreepyPasta stories. Are either supposed to scare me? No. I will fight against anyone. I will do just about anything. If you don’t know what I mean, ask Brad Kane when I stabbed him in the heart just to check to see if he would die. Apparently not was the answer.
“Ronald? You’re not answering. What’s going on out there?”
Esmeralda laughs a little, but keeps it as silent as she can as she looks over to where she killed Ronald. They haven’t bothered to come out to check on things, despite repeated bouts of gunfire.
Esmeralda von Krauss: null, I’m going to start with you. A technical wizard over the basic wrestling techniques, having gone through wrestling school over and over. Heck, you have probably invented a few techniques of your own to master. It amazes me that someone would go through so much effort to master what amounts to kämpfen spielen, dahling. You could have gone under my wing instead and learned how to kill a dozen people in under thirty seconds. I call those techniques by the name: echte Kampfkünste. Superior techniques if you are going to be fighting in the square arena.
She watches the entrance to the cafeteria, but the three people in the room with their hostage do not come out yet. Esmeralda shrugs and continues to look back at the camera.
Esmeralda von Krauss: null, I will break your little wrestling techniques with my own fighting techniques. You think you might be superior to me? It’s as I have already said. You are comparing the game of tag to a knife fight. I have already won when it comes to between us.
“Hey. You two should head out there and check on Ronald and Jimmy. They’re being really silent after all that shooting.”
Esmeralda von Krauss: Duty calls, my dahlings. I will call back soon. Kisses.
