"Dusty, it’s Gus. Listen, before you leave town and disappear into the Idaho foothills – I was hoping you would stop by The Warehouse. While I might be closed for business as a promoter, I’m definitely open for business in another capacity. I think you and Jay will appreciate what I have to offer.”

Outside of Gus’ office we hear elevated voices in argumentative tone. Gus let’s out a deep sigh, before walking out into the middle of his dojo. Upon exit we watch as Gus’ head trainer Liam Beesley and Oxford Osland are having a disagreement.
Beesley: “I’m not doing this for the sake of my health.”
Osland: “You shouldn’t be doing this at all.”
Beesley: “This is what the man wanted.”
Osland: “Let me speak to the man.”
Gus: “Things are going about as well as I expected...”
Osland and Beesley stop their bickering.
Osland: “Why am I here Gus?”
Gus: “To learn.”
Osland: “To learn what? How to be a journeyman hack that will fall into the ‘good hand’ category like your boy here.”
Beesley: “You undermining little…”
*WHAM!*
Beesley flips Osland over his shoulder, forcing Osland to his back with as much force as he can muster.
Gus: “For once, don’t question my authority. If you want to take part in my vision going forward, you’re going to have to prove yourself.”
Osland: “Prove myself? Oh what… The Multiple Championships that I’ve earned over the past seven years aren’t enough?”
Gus spits onto the concrete floor.
Gus: “Don’t be short-sighted.”
Osland stands and wipes the dust off of his gear. When he’s back to his feet, he lunges towards Beesley who blocks the attempt with an inside block. Osland swipes again, and the arm lock has now transitioned into wrist-lock which takes Osland by surprise. A swift kick to the outside leg drops Osland to the mat with Beesley in full control.
Gus: “Let him up.”
Osland snarls, but thinks twice about going after Beesley for a second time.
Gus: “If you want to take the next step in your career, you need to check your ego at the door. On top of that, I need you in here four days a week at 6am. The other three days are for rest, and for you to run the oceanfront.”
Osland: “Alright, I give up. Can one of you smarten me up to what’s going on here? I don’t hear from you for nearly two years, you don’t return my calls and you make it abundantly clear that you have no interest in my existence. So you decide to stop promoting, and suddenly the airwaves between us are clear. What gives?
Gus spits again and walks away.
Osland: “You owe me that much.”
Gus glares a hole through Osland.
Gus: “I owe you?”
Gus chuckles.
Gus: “You’re extremely fortunate to be here. The last I checked, you’re without a job, without pay and very close to being cast aside in this industry as a malcontent who's ‘difficult’ to work with. If I don’t vouch for you, you’re as good as finished regardless of the natural talent that you possess.”
Osland stays silent. He fights to urge to defend himself.
Gus: “You’re here to regain my trust after the repeated liberties you took while under my banner. But, suffice it to say, based on what I’m seeing here and now – you’re not ready.”
The gruff voice of Gus Arnold doesn’t mince words.
Osland: “Wait!”
Osland composes himself before continuing.
Osland: “I’ll do it. Whatever this is… I’m in.”
Gus nods slightly. He then shifts his focus to Beesley and instructs him to carry on as they had originally planned. Gus walks back into his office and shuts the door.
The air appears to be tensionless.
Beesley: “Have faith. You may not understand in this moment, but maybe you’re not supposed to.”
Osland remains still, processing everything.
Osland: “I thought that after all of this time I might finally be privy to what’s going on inside of his head. I lead the charge here for two years, before being sent on my way unceremoniously. What did I do? I made the best of the situation and proved that I could be successful elsewhere out from under Gus’ thumb.”
Liam watches as Osland struggles to put the pieces together.
Beesley: “I can’t say for sure, because the man hasn’t spoken to me directly about it.
Osland is all ears.
Beesley: “I overheard a conversation the other day. If what I heard is true, it’s in your best interest to glean as much of this European Style as you can while we’re working together.”
Osland is starting to see Liam in different light.
Beesley: “By the time my journey to North American came to fruition, my best days as a performer were behind me. Gus knew that, but he also saw value in the way I was trained back home in Nottingham. There would be no better way to allow the old teachings to seep into the lives of his students than to have me at the forefront of The Warehouse.”
More listening, no desire to interrupt.
Beesley: “Whether you realize this or not… the culture that I come from, and that of Eastern Canada are very similar. The way Gus was brought into this industry is not unlike how it was for me.”
Osland nods.
Osland: “About this conversation you overheard?”
Beesley: “Follow the money.”
Osland looks at Liam inquisitively.
Beesley: “Big business in the UK has bought out nearly all of Gus’ contracts, and a new venture is beginning.”
Osland looks over to Gus’ office. He’s back in the phone, looking to broker more action.
Beesley: “Let's make the most of this until we're told otherwise...”
