The camera shows a wall of The Unknown Room. The word “Trainer” appears on the wall. The lights go out. A few seconds black and white lights go on and Kirsty Mascara is standing in front of the wall.
Kirsty Mascara: Olympia I want to tell you a story about my days of training to become a professional wrestler. My trainer used to run friends and family shows. He had a rule where if you could guarantee at least two friends and family members attending a show you would be booked, One day he looked at my twin brother and said “Both of you are lucky that you’re twins because I know for a fact that one of you wouldn’t be able to bring your parents.” The reality is he meant me because my parents would only be interested in a show if my brother was on it. When it came to me having an opportunity to showcase my skills my parents weren’t interested. They thought I would give up on wrestling and my brother would become a star. To this day they’re still wrong because my brother has never had a contract to work for a big wrestling company.
Kirsty Mascara looks at the word “Trainer” and then looks at the camera.
Kirsty Mascara: Another story that I can tell you about my trainer is there was a time when my brother did a promo class. My brother rambled on about his crush on me and to be honest it was disgusting to hear. After my brother finished his promo the trainer called on him and I and said “I don’t know what to make of this. I’m concerned in case I pair you up on a show and both of you try and sleep together or something.” When he said that I wanted to be sick because clearly he like many others didn’t understand that wasn’t me. I didn’t let his impression of my brother and I put me down, no I worked hard, and eventually, he asked for another conversation, only this time it was just with me. He said “Kirsty you’re improving a lot however I need something that can separate you from your brother. What are you interested in that he’s not? I looked at him and without any hesitation, I said the word “Secrets.” He looked at me and he said “Not what I expected you to say but I’ll test you to see if you can do anything with it.” Olympia, I passed his test.
The word “Trainer” disappears from the wall.”
Kirsty Mascara: Olympia, it makes me wonder about you. Were you a chosen one who everybody thought would succeed the moment you appeared or did you have to prove yourself? We’ve all heard you talk about respect being earned but are you really the one who decides the criteria? I don’t think you are. I think you use the word respect hoping that people will fear you when in reality you’ve not achieved enough here to be a threat. You’re the one who is on a losing streak, why should anyone be looking up to you when you can’t win matches? You need to respect people like me because I’m the one who showed you a flaw in your game.
The word “Lightning” appears on the wall.
Kirsty Mascara: Otherwise you might be the one who answers the question. Can lightning strike twice? May people say it can’t, but those people might not have met your bad luck.
The word “Lightning” disappears and the words “Bad Luck” appears in its place.
Kirsty Mascara: That reminds me of another moment from my past. The first time I got told that smashing a mirror was bad luck. My brother found one of my dad’s hammers and used it to smash a mirror. As all of the glass fell onto the floor my dad entered the room and saw what was happening. Shocked by what he saw he pointed at me and said “Kirsty did you smash that mirror with a hammer and then give it to your brother to take the blame for it? Don’t you know it’s bad luck to smash mirrors I’ve got news for you missy your grounded, no television for the next two weeks.” My dad didn’t give me a chance to speak he just accused me of doing it and stuck to his decision. A memory like that makes me wonder about you Olympia were you always innocent? Or would you have done what my brother did and smashed the mirror knowing people would never know it was you.
The words “Bad Luck” disappear and the words “Goblins, Zombies, Ghosts” appear. Kirsty Mascara laughs.
Kirsty Mascara: Olympia I’ve been called a lot of things in my life, for example in school I was called a living zombie, a goblin and I’ve been called ghost-like. The reason why I was called all of them is because growing up I didn’t fit in anywhere. People would look at me like they either didn’t see me or didn’t want to. On the occasional time that someone did want to talk to me, it was always negative. In one discussion another girl ran up to me and went “Look at the freak she’s so ugly she looks like a goblin.” Another child once said to me “She looks like she’s just come out of a casket and is a zombie.” I didn’t like being bullied like that. I would tell my brother but he didn’t care. As far as he went people weren’t laughing at him so why should he support me if it would ruin his reputation? I would go home from school and try to tell my parents but they didn't care either. They would only have done something if it was my brother who had the problems. Olympia what you need to understand about I hold onto moments like that for inspiration to defeat my opponents.
The camera fades.
