Hello everyone,
This post is to let you all know that REIGN will be going on hiatus, and not just for January (which we would have taken off anyway)- no this will be an indefinite hiatus.
That said, REIGN served its purpose. The REIGN admins are all long-time fedders who have a great passion for this hobby and we formed REIGN to fulfill a specific goal. At the time the XHF Network was facing a period of heavy instability due to several factors (and factions?) all at once. Many members had left to follow somebody they believed was being persecuted (though was later proven to be the bigot he was charged as), and the two "main" rp feds that remained had such bitter OOC relations that people were feeling alienated by one or both sides.
REIGN came to fill the gap so that people had a neutral ground to stand on. In some respects we failed because we didn't attract anyone back from CWA, nor did we really catch anyone caught between FIRESIDE and NLW. But I think in other ways we succeeded. During those times, and later days when other incidents occurred, REIGN was able to remain a stable element. Even if not used by many people we were still getting our shows up and providing a neutral fed that didn't pick fights or cause unneeded OOC problems because as administrators we stayed out of everyone's hair (though we were also hard to get a hold of since we didn't have an official presence on the discord).
The design of REIGN was meant to train newer members for global participation- unfortunately we tended to attract members who were already very active in the global scene (maybe the design appealed to that element of them). Our world title is nigh impossible to get and takes a year's worth of work just to get to, just like the opportunities to get the X*Crown or XHF Junior Heavyweight Championship are fleeting and only come along every once in a while. The King of the World title itself is a combination of the smaller titles, just like the X*Crown is of world titles. And obviously we were trying to force members into participating in global events by not running during those months so they had to find something else to do. This too was designed to train newer members into the larger XHF Network- but similarly attracted those already interested in global shows because they wouldn't have to pull double duty. Oh well.
Our biggest hindrance to growth was probably the secrecy of our staff. Why the secrecy? Since the phase is long over it's probably ok to explain it now- if you didn't know who was running REIGN it was supposed to be harder to fit us into a box. In truth our admins came from all over the XHF Network. We were in FIRESIDE, we were in NLW, and we were even in CWA (formerly here as NPW and SWAT- which we were also in when they were on board, surprise surprise). We didn't want anyone weighing our loyalties to their various circle of friends, because we were friends with all of you. You all know us and rp with us (we don't just run REIGN, you know). Ultimately instead of pushing the neutrality it created unease, which is understandable; but we decided to keep it anyway and will continue to do so.
We wanted to thank everyone who handled with us, even if just for a show or two. We hope that we provided you with a quality fed. And we wanted to give some big thanks to the outsiders who participated in our fun and wrote for our shows despite the secrecy and despite not being wrestlers with us. Your attention and help was greatly appreciated. Words fail at how much we have appreciated each and every piece that has gone into REIGN.
All that said, REIGN isn't dead, it's on break. It's on break until either we or the Network admins think it's needed again to provide a stable and neutral place for people to weather out the storms. But going into 2023 we're just not needed. In the rp fed world there's CAR, TOW, W:UK, and HKW- and they're all excellent feds that cater to a variety of tastes and styles. They're all worth checking out if you haven't already and put out great material.
Thank you for the time, XHF Network. In some ways hopefully we won't be back because the need won't be there- and in others it'll be a little sad not putting out our little shows for you. If the need arises and we do come back, we'll pick up where we left off, so current plate holders will be asked to defend their titles...or no show. It's been fun guys and we'll all still be around, none of us will likely be retiring soon. So we'll just let Batman slink back to the shadows and continue to do our best as Bruce Waynes.
Good luck Steve, win the X*Crown back in our name and then bring it to a good home!
See you on the rp boards!
