It is a simple scene, nothing fancy, just Eron Hunter sitting on a sofa leaning forward with his forearms resting on his kneecaps. A cigarette hangs on the left corner of his mouth, with smoke almost covering his face.
He seems deep in thoughts.
Serious just like he always is, but this time even more so.
He takes a few deep drags from the cigarette. Inhale. Exhale. Repeat.
He slowly shakes his head and then, a deep stern voice fills the place.
“To say I am disappointed is to say only half the truth!
To say I am saddened would be more fitting of the situation.
I am saddened because you, Billy Fowler, and the other two Bastards chose to act as you did. Yes, I said you chose and I mean it. It was a deliberate act of evil. Billy, you say people are dark and greed-driven beings. I, on the other side, think that people always have a choice.
Unless they are profound psychopaths, unable to have themselves under control, people always have a choice.
The Bastards had a choice; that choice was to keep on going and be a pillar of light for WUK or take the shortcut to glory. You three chose to do what you did and get where you stand now. You can say it is life that made you what you are now, difficulties and bottomless pits of despair and darkness in life made out of you what you are.
But I disagree.
There are other people in this company, who have had a difficult time surviving in this harsh reality and getting to reach the pinnacle of whatever they strove to reach, and they have managed to live to tell the tale without selling out.
You disagree, but I insist.
You had the moment at your side and when you accepted that you would rather choose to do what you did, instead of trying to withstand the greed, you sold yourself out. And not only yourself, but you also sold the faith other people had in you out. That of the fans who have supported you three since the beginning of WUK, that of other wrestlers who saw in you an example to follow, and in the end…
…That of your beloved ones!
Yes, Billy Fowler, you disappointed not only me and the likes of me in your attempt at staying King at all costs; you also disappointed the ones that always see a Hero in you. The likes of your son and family who love you at all times, or at least try hard to do so even in the face of your actions.
People who do not accept the fact that you see yourself as a being that, at its core, cares only about itself.
Billy, you probably intend to say that there are no heroes or villains in this reality we live in. That we all live in that thin grey line and that evilness is part of us. I might agree with that, I am not a naïve being, but I also know for a fact that if people chose to follow their hearts and their positive dreams then, well then and only then they can be…
…Heroes.
Heroes just like you are, or at least used to be, for your beloved son.
Heroes just like the ones you deliberately chose not to be.
Instead what you and the other two bastards chose to be is a scoundrel. You said it yourself, you accept the fact that you, in this fairytale we call WUK, are the Villains now. That means you, with a cold heart and mind, wanted this to happen. You took the easy way out Billy Fowler, the shortcut to victory, and you did it with intent.
You disappointed many a one with that choice.
And you did not do it because it is the life that ate out all your dreams, no; you did it because you thought that dreams have no place in this harsh environment. That means that you did it because slowly and irremediably, you yourself have come to a moment in which you think that dreams are not worth following, that they are mere fantasies that have no place in the setting that surrounds us.
And that, Fowler, makes you piss poor in your heart.
That makes you weak.
Because a man without the power to dream is a man who is no more worth than a piece of toilet paper.
You see, we are mostly made of water and bones, and without the strength to keep the dreams in our hearts; we are nothing more than a piece of wasted paper.
Billy Fowler, you are a great wrestler and a champion. I, too, am excited to finally fight you one-on-one, it is just so that I am more than disappointed that the man I am facing is just a mere shadow of what he used to be. For me and many others, you and the other two bastards were an example to follow. Three people that have been in this business forever, still at the top and still good at heart, who can reach the top without being disfigured at heart by greed and pressure.
And call me an idiot who does not accept reality, the facts as they stand, but I still insist that there is something good in you.
Maybe it is because I am a hopeless optimist.
Maybe because I think that goodness and light will always triumph in the end.
Maybe because I have Dreams…
…and Dreams are my Reality.
But that is exactly why I will beat you!”
Fade.
