THE BIG OPENER
By Gary Jones
A capacity crowd of 20,000 went to Ashton Gate, Bristol, where Vortex Towers overlooks, to celebrated the return of Alex Reid's promotion in the form of XHF: Vortex Wrestling. It was a party just like we expected. The fans had a whole hour of pure Vortex Wrestling back on their doorstep. And as expected, VW Owner Alex Reid came out to kick off the show. However, he couldn't resist a swipe at his No Mercy Counterpart, Bongo.
WATCH ALEX REID'S OPENER!
The pyro's die down, which is soon followed by:
"So what's the craziest thing you've done lately?"
Kill Hannah's "Crazy Angel" beings to play, which brings Alex Reid onto the stage, he looks around, and takes the cheers from the crowd. He looks around again, microphone in hand, and waits for the crowd and the music to fade, before beginning.
Reid: Welcome…to Vortex Wrestling….
Cheers from the crowd.
Reid: No…welcome…home.
He grins, and the crowd cheers again.
Reid: This has been something I've planned for a long time, I've never abandoned my dreams for this company and now it's slowly becoming a reality once again. I will bring back the glory of VW across Europe! Slowly, surely we will rebuild the tatters of the XHF and VXW and we will create something spectacular, slowly, surely, this will be where it belongs, at the top of the global wrestling organisations!
He pauses for small pop.
Reid: There is just…one thing, before we get the festivities rolling…Bongo the Destroyer. He…well…he doesn't like me.
Pause.
Reid: So, Bongo, I look to you…and hope you watch this webcast, which is streaming live on XHF-VW.com right now…And I hope you realise, I don't want a competition…because…I don't want to embarrass you.
He laughs.
Reid: Seriously though. VW is back, and it's damn well here to stay. Now, lets get out there, and show them why the hell we are Vortex Wrestling!
Reid turns, smiling, and walks out to "Crazy Angel" as the webcast ends.
FENIX OF TO A FLYER.
Tara Fenix was comprehensive in victory over Leon Chant. Chant looked dominant early on, using his power advantage to dominate Tara, however the former XHF Champion soon got back into the match, after dodging an early attempt by Chant to hit the Train Collision she proceeded to come back into the match.
Tara gained control and began a spree of high flying moves to damage the big man, wheelkick after dives and further kicks, including an enziguri, which set up the end of the match. After planting Chant with the enziguri she heads to the turnbuckle, as Chant got to his feet, she attempted Frozen fenix, Chant sidestepped this however, and upended Tara for the B-Bomb, however, Fenix was also wise to this, and dropped Chant on his head with the Fenix Wings! Earning her the victory.
WATCH NOW: KRIS QUAKE VS CHARLIE VELEZ!
*The lights dim and the crowd goes silent as the sound of footsteps begin to overtake the PA System and words begin rolling across the Xtreme-Tron
"It only takes one
One man to change the course of History
Your Hero Has Arrived"
One man to change the course of History
Your Hero Has Arrived"
The stage begins to smoke up and the spotlight shines on the entrance way. The crowd begins to cheer softly as Trapt's "Stand Up" begins to play and Kris Quake comes running out onto the stage full of energy. He runs from one side of the stage to the other playing to the crowd and causing their cheers to grow louder and louder before finally stopping back at the top of the ramp and he begins to walk down the ramp slowly slapping hands with the fans.
"You planted the seed
How my anger has grown
Got an feeling inside that I can't seem to control
You wanna see a reaction
Come on and cut me down
You've gone as far as I'll go
Now you're crossing the line and I am letting you know
Well here's your reaction."
How my anger has grown
Got an feeling inside that I can't seem to control
You wanna see a reaction
Come on and cut me down
You've gone as far as I'll go
Now you're crossing the line and I am letting you know
Well here's your reaction."
Kris Quake reaches the ring and leaps up onto the ring apron and looks around at the crowd that is now cheering loudly as he slowly reaches down and pulls the XHF Tag Team Championship from around his waist and raises it in the air causing the crowd to cheer even louder. He lets loose a small grin before he leaps over the top rope into the ring and spins around with his arms spread out.
"Stand up
I have had enough
Walk away before I finish what you started
Face to face I will put you in your place
End this game before I finish what you started
Face to face everything will change"
I have had enough
Walk away before I finish what you started
Face to face I will put you in your place
End this game before I finish what you started
Face to face everything will change"
Kris Quake stands in the center of the ring looking out at the crowd and nodding he head as the music cuts off.*
Romero: And here comes VW's self-proclaimed Hero himself, one Kris Quake as he's set to make his company debut within a matter of moments.
Shining: That he is, but I just hope he realizes what he's truly gotten himself into as far as the actual opponent is concerned...
*All the lights in the arena are shut off, as the intro to Coheed and Cambrias "No World For Tomorrow" echoes throughout the arena. Green sparks suddenly fall from the ceiling all around the arena, creating a rain effect. The logo of The Punisher is lowered over the XtremeTron, covering it completely, as smoke emerges from the floor. Charlie Velez walks up the steps that are under the ramp, wearing a hooded sweatshirt, as he reaches the top and stands there, looking down at the floor. After a brief moment Charlie Velez lifts his head slowly, and begins to walk down the ramp, smoke covering the whole floor. Charlie Velez reaches the button of the ramp, and he stops, glaring around the arena full of XHF fans. Charlie looks up to the sky as the hood falls off his head. Charlie falls to his knees and holds his arms out and gives a tribute to his mentor Tatsumi Matsuzaka, as green firework type pyros shoot out in front of the XtremeTron. Charlie stands at the bottom step looking around at the arena, shouting at the fans around him. While hes standing there, he slowly crosses his arms to form an X, as the smoke is beginning to clear from the arena. The pyro rain continues to fall, as Charlie Velez then walks up the ring steps, and then goes into the ring. Charlie Velez walks towards the turnbuckle across from him, and climbs up to the second turnbuckle. While Charlie stares at the camera, he begins to slide his hooded sweatshirt off of him. The ring announcer takes the hooded sweatshirt from out of the ring, and Charlie Velez then walks down the turnbuckle. Charlie looks at the fans and crosses his arms creating the Xtremist logo once again and holds it to his chest. He then turns his attention towards the entranceway, awaiting his opponent(s).*
Romero: Here comes the Higher Power himself as he looks like a man on a mission this evening!
Shining: Oh absolutely, this is guaranteed to be one hell of an evenly matched showdown to say the least so may the best man win all in all.
Singles Match
Kris Quake vs. Charlie Velez
Kris Quake vs. Charlie Velez
The ref calls for the bell and right away the two men are locked up in the center of the ring. Charlie gets the quick advantage due to his slight size advantage. Charlie puts Kris Quake into a headlock but Quake counters with a back suplex driving Charlie down to the mat. Charlie rolls back to his feet quickly and Quake is quick on the attack with knife hand chop after knife hand chop forcing Charlie back to the ropes, Quake goes to whip Charlie to the far ropes but Charlie reverses it and whips Quake to the far ropes. Quake rebounds off the ropes and Charlie leap frogs him, but as Quake hits the other ropes he grabs them with his arms to stop his momentum. Charlie turns and charges at Quake but Quake ducks under and back body drops Charlie out to the outside.
Romero: Quake's looking impressive so far in these opening moments of the first ever VW main event.
Shining: He better be, much like Charlie he's a heavy favorite to be a contender for the company's World Title itself soon enough.
Quake now watches as Charlie slowly gets to his feet and Quake runs towards the far ropes, rebounds and comes flying between the top and middle rope with a suicide dive through the ropes nailing Charlie square in the chest with his body! Quake quickly gets to his feet as the fans are cheering and he looks around and hypes the crowd up even more in response. Quake drags Charlie up to his feet and hits him with a few knife hand chops. Quake hooks Charlie's head and signals for a DDT but when he flows with it Charlie just pushes him off his head and Quake hits the floor hard. Charlie rolls into the ring quickly to break up the count then rolls back out helping Quake to his feet by his hair.
Romero: Impressive counter by Charlie, he looks to have turned the tide in this contest.
Shining: Were you ever in any doubt that he wouldn't?
Charlie hits Quake with some slow, well measured right fists driving his knuckles into Quake's forehead before rolling Quake back into the ring and he then goes to the ring apron himself. Moments later Quake gets to his feet and hits Charlie in the gut with his shoulder. Charlie quickly counters and grabs Quake's head and drops down to the floor bringing Quake's head down across the ropes and sling-shotting him back to the center of the ring. Charlie rolls back into the ring and shows off for the crowd a bit as they boo him. He starts to lay in some vicious boots on the fallen Quake kicking away at his neck and head. Charlie picks Quake up by the hair to get him to his feet. Charlie lifts Quake into a scoop slam but then turns it into a swinging neckbreaker driving Quake to the mat! Charlie goes for a cover hooking the far leg, One...Two...Kickout. Charlie grins to himself a bit as he gets back to his feet. Charlie then locks in a headlock on Quake.
Romero: Why was he smiling?
Shining: Because he knows he has this match well in control, it's just a matter of time before Quake is finished off once and for all!
Charlie firmly secures the reverse chin lock in as Quake fights to get to his feet. Quake then hits one, then two, then three determined elbows into Charlie's midsection. As Quake frees himself he steps forward one step then jumps and hits a dropkick square across Charlie's chest! He goes for a quick cover, One...Two..Kickout. Quake grabs Charlie's head and lays in a few rights before jumping to his feet pumping himself back up and the crowd cheers along in the process. Charlie gets back to his feet but Quake quickly takes him down with a double leg take down. He floats over into a single leg Boston crab. The ref asks Charlie if he submits but Charlie just relentlessly shakes his head no and reaches for the ropes. After about half a minute in the move Charlie is able to reach the ropes and latch onto the bottom one. Quake is forced to let go of the hold. Quake gets Charlie back to his feet and hooks him into a fisherman's suplex. Quake gets back to his feet quickly and goes to climb the top rope, he measures Charlie up from there and comes flying off the top rope with a double foot stomp but Charlie rolls out of the ring right as Quake is about to land and Quake hits the mat and looks as if he almost jams his leg!
Romero: Charlie had that well scouted indeed.
Shining: And you STILL sound surprised!
Charlie rolls back into the ring as Quake gets back to his feet shaking his left leg a bit but not limping, just shook up somewhat from the missed maneuver. Charlie waits until Quake turns around and jumps for a standing dropkick of his own nailing his adversary square in the face. Quake hits the mat and Charlie goes for a cover, One...Two...Kickout! Charlie is now looking a bit frustrated as he pulls Quake back to his feet and goes behind him hooking him for a German suplex, he rolls with it and switches his arms for a dragon suplex but Quake somehow slides down out of the hold as he kicks upwards to Charlie's midsection followed by another swift kick to his head. Quake gets back to his feet and hooks Charlie for the Earth Shaking planting Charlie square on the head. Quake then goes for a cover, One...Two...Thre-NO, Kickout! Quake hits the mat in downright livid frustration and gets to his feet stomping away at Charlie. Quake then goes between the middle and top ropes and looks out to the crowd as he stands on the apron. He then climbs to the top rope but just as he's about to jump off the top turnbuckle Charlie gets to his feet. Quake waits for him to get to his feet but Charlie quickly dives for the ring ropes causing Quake to lose his footing and come crashing down on top of the turnbuckle.
Romero: Ugh, that hurts like hell just looking at it.
Shining: No argument here on that one...
Charlie leans on the ropes grinning out to the crowd before he goes over to Quake and climbs to the 2nd turnbuckle hooking Quake's head. He then grabs Quake tights and bring him up and over with a suplex off the 2nd rope. Both men temporarily lay on the mat after they crash down to it with such incredible force. Charlie gets back to his feet first. Charlie goes to get Quake to his feet but out of nowhere Quake rolls Charlie up in a small package, One...Two...Kickout! Charlie again has a look of surprise as he quickly rolls to his feet as Quake also slowly gets to his. Charlie goes to swing at Quake but Quake counters and drops Charlie to the mat with an armbar takedown. They are too close to the ropes though as Charlie is able to get his long legs to that point without much trouble. Quake is forced to break the hold and gets back to his feet moving his hair out of his face. He then goes to pick Charlie back up to his feet but Charlie counters with a few punches to the gut and then springs up with the Closure! Quake is drilled to the mat hard face first and Charlie lays there breathing for a second before going for the cover, One...Two...Thre-KICKOUT!
Shining: The ref's hand hit damnit, his hand hit!
Romero: NO! The ref is calling it just a two count!
Shining: Slow count I say, SLOW COUNT!
Charlie slams his fist several times on the mat frustrated and in complete dismay of what's just occurred here. He grabs Quake by the hair and gets him to his feet shortly thereafter. From there he drives Quake's head between his legs and picks him up, he drives him down with a powerbomb hard to the mat and holds it for a cover, One...Two...Kickout, and as Quake rolls to kick out Charlie goes right into a STF! As Quake is about to reach the ropes Charlie releases the hold and pulls Quake by his legs away from the ropes and drops down quickly locking in a crossface, aka Commit This To Memory!
Romero: Quake might be too far from the ropes!
Shining: He's going to have to tap for damn sure this time!
Quake fights the hold though slowly, crawling his way towards the ropes bit by bit by bit. Charlie yanks the hold back even more but even amidst all this struggling between the two Quake doesn't tap yet! He keeps fighting to get to the ropes, he reaches for the bottom rope and is just INCHES away at this point! He reaches once more and his finger tip grazes the bottom rope and as he's JUST about to get a finger on the bottom rope someone hits Charlie himself from behind! The ref jumps up and we see none other than XHF's own RAGE as he's attacking Charlie who had his back turned to him! Charlie lets go of the hold and covers the back of his head as Rage whales away with forearm after forearm to the back of Charlie's head. The ref calls for the bell!
Winner via DQ due to Outside Interference: Charlie Velez!
*Afterward Rage ruthlessly ignores the announcer as Charlie rolls out of the ring to re-gather himself and Rage follows him outside of the ring in a state of fierce anger and lunacy for whatever reason. The two men meet on the rampway and start to brawl back and forth hitting each other with lefts and rights, it looks like an all out brawl as more Refs and Security come running from the backstage area to break up the fight.*
Romero: Whats going on here!?
Shining: Looks like the Revolutionary Redneck wanted to send a strong message of sorts to Charlie as part of his official debut in VW!
*Meanwhile Kris Quake pulls himself up to the top rope and watches the chaos ensue on the outside. He looks a bit pissed as the two men are separated in the rampway above. He's yelling down over and over at Rage "What the hell are you doing?!!" Rage looks back behind him to Quake and gives a sly grin before turning back to Charlie and breaking free from the security guards and jumping up and over all the refs and security at Charlie, continuing to brawl. Quake, now extremely frustrated in the ring, turns around and is laid out HIMSELF in the center of the ring, by of all things a Genicide Kick! None other than the most recent VXW World Champion in DOC stands over the fallen Kris Quake in the center of the ring and looks down at him with no emotion at all in his eyes. Doc then looks out to the crowd with still no emotion, then back down at Kris Quake as we slowly cut to commercial with Rage/Charlie still being separated as well in the background outside the ring.*
Romero: What in the holy hell is going on around here!?
Shining: War by god! All out WAR as it seems two well known former XHF allies in Rage and Doc have blatantly set up these two unsuspecting individuals and made it crystal clear that they each have much more to worry about than their own singles match here!
Romero: Well as things continue deteriorating out here we'll be right back folks, and can someone PLEASE restore some damn order to ringside in the meantime!
BOYHOOD DREAMS TAKE ON STRENGTH
In the first VW Main Event, The final VXW Champion, Doc, took on Dave Strong. Many people would have fancied the Boyhood Dream, Dave Strong shown the world he was going to be a handful for this company.
Doc started off with his usual game, brash, and in your face with his all round ability. However a small mistake and a ducked flying forearm allowed Dave Strong in. He worked away at Doc with a range of carefully placed holds and strikes, nibbling away at Doc's abdominal and lower back.
With Doc in a world of trouble, the Boyhood Dream dug deep, and after countering an attempt for an electric char drop, he fought back with a number of high flying blows to Dave Strong. Building himself up to try and steal a victory. However Doc,who had only just caused controversy in the previous match, seemed to run out of Gas, Strong ducked a Genocide kick and upturned Doc, placing him in the Sharpshooter. Fortunately for Doc, he was too close to the ropes to force a submission, and broke out.
Strong wasn't done however, and after launching Doc into the turnbuckle, as Doc stumbled back out of the corner Strong attempted a Strong Slam, out of nowhere though, Doc dropped down and planted the Genocide kick into the throat of Strong, and the Boyhood Dream stood tall.
This answers no questions as to what happened in our match of the week? What will happen next week as Ascendancy continues?
