“In the clash between HKW and WUK...
…I side with the fans!”
The scene opens up with Eron in front of the camera. Behind him cerulean skies. He is wearing his usual black overcoat, which covers him almost completely, and is smoking a cigarette.
“If one has to enforce on me to pick a side, I side with the fans. If one wants to ask me where my heart lies, I say with MJPW and then NPW. Thus the decision would be easy, at least at first sight, but in reality, it isn´t so. Things are never so simple.
WUK is the spiritual successor of NPW, and thus part of my heart is here, but HKW is what I grew up watching as a kid, the promotion that inscribed the love for wrestling in my heart, and part of my heart is there. Thus I decided to stay impartial in this warfare. But it never is so easy. No one can stay impartial forever unless your name is Switzerland, and when the moment comes to pick a side, you will need to pick a side.
Thus I decided to side with the fans.
What does that mean?
It means I decided to go into that ring and do my best, just like I always do, to please the people watching the show with my unconditioned passion for the fight. I decided to go out there, fighting the fight the head honchos had chosen for me, and give a hundred percent plus. It didn´t matter if the opponent would be Syberus or Windsor, it never does as far as my motivation to give it all in the ring goes.”
Eron lowers his head, looking at the ground and taking some deep drags from his cigarette. After some instants of silence, he resumes his speech in a placid tone.
“But you went and did it even simpler for me, Havok!
You went and challenged me to a match.
And? I am thankful.
I always strive to give max steam for every fight and it is even more so when the opponent respects me. You didn´t explicitly say so, but you said other things that make me understand your high opinion of my skills in the ring.
And I must admit I think the same about you.
At least about your ability in the ring.
This time it isn´t about your character traits, although I must admit it always is so when it comes to me, it is about your raw capability in the squared circle. You´ve gone and done everything you could in the Wrestle: UK ring. Your fights against Fowler for that highly praised World Championship Belt are almost stuff legends are made of. You two went and gave it all in the ring, almost leaving your heart and soul in the middle of the mat. You two went as far as making people think the only way to stop one of you was to kill you. Great fighters, more or less unstoppable.
More or Less, that is.
Because both of you are.
Stoppable.
I proved that in my last fight against Billy Fowler. He traveled the road to hell with iron steps, he almost had me there, but I managed to beat him. And since he has managed to beat you, what does that make of me? Me who has beaten him? That makes me capable of beating you too.”
Eron crosses his arms on his chest, slowly shaking his head, and continues in his usual calm tone.
“True, wrestling matches are no math, they are not an exact science, they are fights and fights are more or less unpredictable. At least theoretically. All a fighter can do is train, try to find weak spots in his opponent’s character and way of fight, and train some more while finally delivering all the punishment he can when the time is right.
Well, you are trying to make some math there Havok.
Your equation goes the way of “Hunter is almost legendary, if I beat him that equals me legendary too” and that equation is almost right, almost that is. It comes short in the part in which you want to beat me.
Sure as hell, I can be beaten. It has happened before and it will happen again. Just like the sun goes up and down again and again, just like that Eron Hunter can be beaten. But that won’t happen through science! It won´t happen through mathematical equations. It needs something else, something you surely have gotten too...
…It needs Heart!
To beat someone like me, Havok, for that you need a warrior´s heart and a fighter's passion for the challenge, for the battle. If you manage to find the real warrior heart beating in your chest, you will be able to beat me. If you go out there calculative and cold, you might be a good fighter but you will never be a legendary wrestler!
And that, Havok, is, what in your own words, you are facing.
A legendary wrestler…
..Will you be able to withstand the pressure?
Time will tell.”
Eron Hunter stops speaking. Time is there to end this monologue. The scene fades slowly to black.
